Battle Of Liberty

"Winchester." I felt someone shake me slightly, I opened my eyes to see Gary looking at me confusedly.

I was currently back in my office with my head down on my desk, I guess I needed that extra snooze. I sat up blinking a couple of times, to see Gary analysing my face slowly.

"Your eyes are bloodshot." Slowly, he spoke.

I grabbed the little compact mirror from my desk, belonging to Lilly and saw that indeed, my eyes were bloodshot. I lowered the compact mirror down and lifted my hand up to rub my eye but was stopped.

"Don't rub your eye, that'd make it worse." I lowered my hand down again, moving towards the window. I opened the window and stuck my head out for a while to inhale the fresh breeze feeling comfort as my sleep was blown away.

Pulling myself back to the office, I saw Gary glance at his phone where he was probably texting someone with a smile on his face.

He saw me moving back to my desk and placed his phone away returning his attention apparently to my office and me, keeping his hands in his pockets.

"What's up, Gary?" I asked.

"Just came to check up on you, also, it's Ashok's party, he invited you and me." He spoke pulling his phone out and waving it.

"Oh." I spoke.

"I know you don't always go to parties as much anymore, but it'd be fun going with you, like old times."

"Who said I was going with you?" I joked as I saw Gary genuinely smile at me chuckling,

"I said." I turned my head to the door to see my dad entering the room.

"You know I'm against this for Lilly all the time, but after what's happened I want you to have at least a day off." I saw my dad nod his head making his point.

"You know I normally don't do this." I smiled at that as I nodded my head slowly already knowing what would happen.

"Great, pick you up at seven." Gary flashed his infamous smile and walked off greeting my dad along the way. My dad glanced at me as I was leaning against the window sill and y dad sitting on the chair.

"Em, you know I like Gary, he's a good kid and you've known each other for at least ten years, that's why I'm trusting him."

"I know you can take care of yourself because I've seen it, but sweetheart you can't always keep yourself hidden, the day of your accident, Lilly told me what she'd seen. You know the words that she used, 'warm and understanding'." My dad paused as I was paying heed to his words.

"Lance told me that you didn't use violence that night, you used words instead, I'm proud of you, kid." I glanced up at my dad hearing that last sentence. I would hear that a lot during soccer matches.

"The daughter I thought I lost was always with me but needed a trigger to bring back the Emma we've all known to cherish. Maybe one day you'll see it too with big flashing lights." My dad ended as he left the room.

"It can't be." Dr Fields slowly spoke confused.

"Facial recognition picked it up, it's her." I heard Freddy say as I entered the cortex.

"Ex-A.S.T.R.A.D Lab's employee, Lola Oraney." Dr Flynn stated as everyone looked curious.

"Is this about radioactive girl?" I asked as Freddy turned his head to me.

"Radioactive girl..." I heard him breath out if he was figuring it out.

"Yes, indeed, it is about an ex-employer that's used to work here, who was an important employee but vanished one day, no news ever since until today." Dr Flynn answered as on the monitor two pictures appeared.

"Why, radioactive girl?" Dr Flynn asked.

"Well I, er saw her wearing yellow and black, looking like the radioactive sign. " I shrugged as Dr Flynn nodded.

"Interesting."

"That's actually a pretty good name for the meta-human, frankly." Freddy spoke nodding his head.

I was staring at the two photos on the monitor, one with a lady with long hair and vibrant blue eyes, but the other was the radioactive woman, where her eyes were showing a darker grey and not blue.

"We had managed to see beneath those shades, those are her eyes."

The two pictures in the board showed one person but it looked like two different people. What I didn't understand is how the grey just took over the blue. Was it due to the powers she gained?

"Wait, did she gain her powers like Emma, did?" Freddy asked, as the TV in the side had turned out the news.

"I'm supposing so, since she had vanished apparently-" footage of radioactive girl was shown. "-but returned back a few months later now turned into this radioactive girl." Her eyes were zapping some cars with people running away.

I was leaning against the wall as Isabella was speaking.

"This chick is out of control." My head started spinning that I felt my body collapse onto the ground hearing muffles.

Blinking a few times as I could see a few figures hovering over me as my eyes fluttered open. I saw Dr Flynn, Freddy, Isabella, Chuck and Dr Fields all standing there.

"You passed out." Isabella stated, as I got up from the bed, seeing a few wires connected to my hand.

"Turns out you've been having more encounters of these." Dr Flynn spoke.

"You were experiencing dizzy spells, blurred vision and even passed out once." Chuck listed off calmly.

"And you didn't think it was necessary to tell us this?" I heard Dr Fields start off calmly, taking off her gloves.

"We're your doctors, you of all people know that in science, we don't keep secrets, we share them." Dr Fields angrily spoke before exiting the room.

"Wow, haven't seen her that angry since Dayton." I saw Freddy walk chase after her.

Chuck blew out a breath, Dr Flynn was monitoring something and Isabella looked more annoyed than she already was. I just sat there inspecting, the wires connected to my hand.
