Battle Of Liberty

I felt my eyes flicker slowly, they were slowly blinking open, adjusting to the light. My hands were on the ground, my face on the ground and my phone beside me.

I could make out a shadow, that was staring at me in the face alerting me a whole.

I gasped pushing myself off of the ground, the girl jumped back as well. I got up from the ground as the girl stared at me for a few seconds registering something before speaking.

"Are you okay?" I nodded my head slowly.

"I'm Layla." She extended her hand out to me slowly, I shook it back as she continued.

"I discovered you falling on the ground, by the time I reached here you were already up, I guess." I glanced at the side before my gaze fell to the ground, seeing my phone. I reached down to collect the silver phone up dusting the dirt off and placing it into my pocket.

"What's your name?" She asked me turning her head to face me.

"Emma." I answered in my soft yet gentle tone.

"Nice to meet you." I heard her say.

"You too." I nodded my head in response.

"Well, I'm gonna go, nice to meet you, Emma. Hope to see you soon. See you." I heard her say,

"See you." I responded slowly seeing her smile at me.

I straightened my jacket out as I realised Gary and Lance were still at the diner, making my way back to the diner, I saw them sitting and were now chattering amongst each other. Taking my seat, I guess desserts came as Jill placed them down in front of us.

"We ordered you this, since we thought you'd like this." Lance spoke as I picked up my spoon taking a scoop of hot cookie dough and ice-cream.

Truth to be told, it was always a lucky dessert in my book, it's always been hot chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice-cream or hot cookie dough and ice-cream.

Taking another bite of the hot cookie, I heard the television buzzing with news all about different things. One that stood out to me was the aqua blur that was apparently spotted through Elm City.

"This just in, there's been a new sight in Elm City, with a flashing colour of a green shade, aqua to be precise, the new blur may just be The beginning of something special." I licked my lip as I already knew what was to come, feeling my phone buzz, I pulled it out, already knowing who it was.

Dr Fields.

Unlocking the phone and placing it to me ear, before I could say anything I heard Freddy.

"Aqua blur? Awesome!"

"Hey Dr Fields, what's up?" I asked slightly sheepishly.

"The lab, 3pm." With that, the phone conversation finished within a second.

I turned back to the guys as they stared at me in worry,

"Everything okay, Winchester?" Gary asked as I nodded my head in response.

"Doctors, just checking up." The guys nodded their heads in slight suspicion but continued to eat their desserts nonetheless as I was doing the same.

After eating and finishing up, Lance had to pay the bill, before Gary or I could. I couldn't interject because he kept me quiet, however, Gary was kept sealed too.

"Guys, chillax. Next time." Lance brushed off as he received a phone call.

"Excuse me, I'll be right back." Gary and I were standing as he glanced at me.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, why?" I asked slowly, confused.

"You look pale over something." He extended his hand out feeling my forehead.

"Your burning up." He pulled his hand back slowly as he studied my face. I touched my head feeling it slightly warm.

"Its nothing." I shrugged it off seeing Gary give me a flat expression.

"From the time, I've known you, Winchester, you tend to hate getting the cold. Your probably a little tired." I blinked a couple of times, as Gary had said that.

"We need to go." Gary and I nodded our heads before turning to Lance.

"We've got a 10-31 in progress." Gary and Lance spoke into their radio receivers as we were all running in the direction of where the crime scene was, arriving at the place, all guns were raised, at the suspect who was wearing yellow and black, with a short haircut reaching till the ears, bold brown eyes holding mixed emotions that were flooding through. However one was prominent. Mischief.

"Put your hands up in the air!" Lance called as the girl only smirked, she took a step forward only to be stopped by Cadence's voice.

"Do not move." The girl ignored and moved forwards as Ulrich, Lance and Cadence started shooting in the direction of the girl. The only thing was it wasn't affecting her, she continued walking with a smirk. The bullet going through and landing in a pile of goop.

Everyone looked astonished by this as the girl only continued to saunter in. Her finger touched the police car bonnet only for it to be having a dent and releasing steam. I was confused enough by this but decided to be remaining intact. The girl disappeared within an instant behind the steam as everyone was still struck by the sudden encounter.

"That was..." Gary started off.

"...something." Lance continued.

"Different." Ulrich finished off as everyone shook their head writing up something or going back in their cars.

I started backing away slowly, away from any of the other police officers before rushing off to A.S.T.R.A.D Labs only to see everyone staring at the news.

"Meta-human." I heard Dr Flynn say.

"I'm sorry, what is that?" I asked confused.

"Half human half inhuman." Dr Flynn continued as he was explaining.

"After the particle accelerator's explosion this must've constricted a bad side of some of the people who were affected, thus being that girl on TV."

"So by being struck by the accelerator, you mean people have just gained powers, powers that are crazy and dangerous." Freddy asked.

"Exactly." Dr Flynn nodded his head.

"Okay." He stretched.

"But, isn't there a possibility to know who were infected that day, that were present there?" Isabella asked.

"I remember installing cameras with Chuck that day, to monitor everything. We can start there." Freddy realised as the two boys walked out and headed towards the footage room.

I stared at the monitor in front of me, the police now were discussing something as the news reporters were talking about further details about this meta-human.

"...as you see it the police car has steam flooding out of it, what next, Elm City?" I turned around to see Chuck and Freddy rush back in with a few flash drives in hand and sticking one to the computer

"I remember placing them all in flash drives if we needed to see the fault of the accelerator, but guess that won't be necessary at the moment." Freddy explained as he clicked something in his tablet before the footage came up on the monitor.

"Skip it a bit." Isabella spoke as Freddy forwarded it to double speed.

"Wait, rewind that a little." I spoke slowly.

"Pause." Dr Flynn spoke as I saw the girl.

"That's her." I breathed out slowly.
