Battle Of Liberty

"Here it is." I stared at the office in front of me.

The familiar looking office was set in front of me. I heard Gary say something, averting my attention back to reality.

"After the accident, you were transferred to the hospital, Lance, Ulrich, Harvey and I were clearing and cleaning this huge place up."

The shelves were newer but held the same look, with the computer probably changed, the chemical spillage all gone.

"Thank you." I turned to Gary as he offered me a smile.

"No worries."

I moved towards the grey draws that had been cleared out with names in the wrong order, with F at the top of the section, U at the second to A at the bottom. I closed the filing cabinet hearing Gary speak.

"Yeah, Hall was pretty inaccurate with all of the findings of names." He paused for a few seconds.

"But on the bright side, you've got your office back." I stared at the chemical station before turning back to him.

"It's nice to be back." I admired the place, as I saw Gary staring at the place before hearing a buzz.

"Avenue." I heard him say as he walked out the room, making me turn back to study the room.

Everything seemed kind of similar to how it was before, but the amount of coffee cups in the bin is not the same. Speaking of which, bin.

"Glad you're back, Emma. Hall was driving me nuts." I heard Billy say as he was taking the trash out.

"Thanks, Billy. Good to see you too." I responded as he nodded and headed out the room.

Filing cabinets.

I made my way towards the filing cabinets and thought of something, turning my back, before using my new gift and skimming through the files ensuring they're on the right files and in alphabetic order, after a few seconds of doing that. I found something useful.

Heading down the stairs, I came across Captain Rifer.

"Captain, I think this was the missing filing you were searching for." I extended the brown paper filed with the white documents inside of it containing missing and important information. The title of the file held,

Robert D. Julian.

"Where'd you get this from?" He asked me.

"From the cabinet."

"Must've taken you time, it was a mess."

"Not much time." I answered slowly.

"Well, Emma. This was key information I was searching for, there's other parts of Robert's file in my office that you dug up as well as some from Hall. But this is what I needed. Great work." He nodded as he walked off.

I felt my vision become blurry, but this time I was holding the counter for support. I blinked it away a couple of times, before I heard someone say something to me. I shook my head before hearing them.

"You have a letter." I glanced at it before taking it.

"Thank you." The woman nodded her head and walked away.

Before I could glance at it, I heard a familiar voice. Ulrich.

"Kid, you're needed." With that, I stuffed the letter into my pocket, grabbing my forensic kit and headed down the steps. Going down the elevator and exiting the station.

Running at supersonic speed, I reached at least a block away from the crime scene, near a hidden alleyway, finding my clothes on fire. My eyes widened, as my hand reached to pat the fire away which subsided away shortly.

I pulled the forensic kit up heading in the direction of the crime scene walking in my normal speed. I saw the cop glance at me turning back to his notebook, before turning back to me again.

"CSI is back!" I heard someone yell making me internally smile at the same person who always yells that.

The police man allowed me to enter without any questions seemingly dazed at the fact that I had arrived. Weird.

"Never got that reaction." I heard Hall say shaking his head.

"That's probably because you aren't CSI, man." Lance spoke as Hall shook his head.

"Why does it smell like fire?" I heard Paulina ask. I shuffled away from her moving towards the crime scene.

"Let the master do her thing." Gary kid as I stared at the scene in front of me.

I placed my gloves on before analysing what was in front of me, the numbers already formed and the process as well. I frowned my eyebrows before speaking.

"No bruises, only poisonous gas inhalation, ex-biker." I analysed.

"How do you know it's an ex-biker?" Ulrich asked curious.

"Many bikers have the similar tattoo. This biker looks like they had this tattoo freshly inked." I stood up.

"It's originally a skull or scorpion but this is a mixture of both, I'm assuming. Or what's left of it." I managed as everyone cautiously looked at the victim before nodding their heads.

"Well done, kid." Agent Leighton, smiled at me warmly. I nodded my head with a small smile at her comment.

"I'm going to get back to the station. Gary, Lance, Emma you're on break." Captain Rifer stated as everyone nodded their heads in response. I was taking my gloves off as I looked up to see Lance speaking.

"Where do you wanna eat?" Lance asked the two of us as I reeled the forensic bag onto my shoulder.

"Heard there was a great food place that opened down town." Lance staring at the both of us.

"I heard about that too. Linda's, right?" Gary asked furrowing one brow slightly.

With that, we all started walking towards the new food place down town, I was enjoying the fresh breeze that was running through my hair and brushing past my face.

Hearing the bell ring as we entered, we all took a seat at a table. Gary and Lance both on the sides of me. They were chattering amongst themselves talking about something that had happened earlier onwards, downtown.

I wasn't paying much heed to the conversation because, I was too busy looking at the interior of the place, pretty lights hung up giving it a dimmed impression, with the impeccable theme of colour choices, everything seemed pretty outstanding, plus I'm not the only one who thinks so, since there are a lot of customers in line or sitting at tables.

"Hi, there I'm Jill, these are your menus, I'll be back within a few." A tall brunette called with a smile before roller skating off to another table.

"Roller-skating, nice." I heard Gary say.

"Think skateboarding would be cool." Lance shrugged as Gary and him got into a depth of laughs and agreement.

Opening the blue menu, I glanced at the dishes, they were serving. Lasagna, Pasta, Spaghetti, Shepherds Pie (NEW). Interesting, Shepherds Pie, that's quite delicious.

My eyes scrolled down, to the next items, burgers. I glanced at the selection as well as the 'on the side' options. I decided to go with a chicken burger and fries.

"Have you all decided yet, on what you'd like to order?" Jill had returned wth a notebook in hand, a pencil behind her ear, smiling at us.

Lance looked at all of us as we all nodded to each other,

"I'd like the burger and fries."

"So would I." Gary and I responded at the same time, earning a chuckle from Jill as she noted it down.

"Comin' right up." She skated away as Lance started up the conversation.

"So Emma, how does it feel coming back to work?"

"Not bad, really." I shrugged.

"How did work go over the last eight months."

"Kinda bad, since Hall would mistakenly use different words to describe the situation, so we had another CSI standing by."

"Do you know Billy had to come to your office at least three times a day, just to clear the trash. Hall would always have coffee standing by him."

"But I guess he understood how work is for you. That's probably why, Rifer suggested him to take this job, since he thought it was very easy." Lance shook his head earning me to smile.

"At least your back, I kinda missed talking to you about the staff lounge." The staff lounge was were all the cops, detectives, SSAs, CSIs, analysts, security were all discussing main themes about Elm City. It was usually a once a month meeting, but it had hilarious comebacks to it, some even busting out distinctive ideas.

It was he once place where everyone would either be serious or hold some what of a laugh, just to release all the seriousness out once in a while.

"Order up. Here are your three burger and fries." Jill came back with three plates in hand and arm delicately placing them down as she bought us our drinks, I guess the 'meal and free drink' was the right to option to pick, I mean who wouldn't?

Hearing the boys talk whilst I was savouring my burger and fries, I felt the familiar taste buds rising, I guess many love their food, maybe that belonging to junk too.

After finishing up eating, I started sipping on my drink. The taste of the Sprite made me sit back on my chair as Gary was laughing turning to me as I was nearly finishing the contents of my drink.

I felt my phone vibrate. Pulling the straw away from my lips, I excused myself leaving my drink and walking out the diner and answering the call.

"Hey, Lilly." I breathed out walking ahead.

"Hey, Emma. I was just wondering to ask you that whether you could help check my dissertation, you know, I could use your help. Derek's given me an insight but I also would like for you to check it." I found myself near the open light alleyway again.

"Sure, when I get home, I'll check it for you." I heard Lilly sigh in relief.

"Thanks, sis. You rock!" I heard her giggle as I smiled at her gesture. "See you, later."

"See you, Lilly." I ended the call, about to move when I felt my head spin and my vision go blurry. I couldn't seem to be held upright, because the next thing I knew it, I'm already on the ground with my eyes drooping shut.
