Battle Of Liberty
"Of course it is! Emma, without you being hit by lightning these past eight months would've gone normal! I had so much guilt running through me when I rushed into that hospital room seeing so many cuts on you, being rushed into the operation theatre. Three hours you were in that hospital. Eight months in the lab." She exhaled.
"I visited you everyday, trying to talk to you. Praying that you'd wake up, so I'd never feel any fully coursing through me. But it was hard work. Seeing your older sister not by your side, it was a hard time for me. I shouldn't have left you alien that night." Lilly sniffled as three tears fell to the floor, in slow motion.
"Well, like I said it's not your fault." I shrugged as Lilly stared at me.
"I'm sorry, Emma." She ended.
"You don't need to apologise. Even though you did, I accept it." I smiled at her as she breathed out, probably feeling two boulders off her shoulders.
"Who is up for some triple chocolate whipped cream flake milkshake." I glanced at Lilly as she laughed making me chuckle as well.
"You remember my favourite order." I noticed as she nodded her head.
"And of course double whipped with chocolate fudge-."
"Don't need to ask me twice." Derek spoke as he grabbed the keys.
"Let's role." Lilly spoke as we all headed out the door and towards the one desert and coffee store everyone loved in Elm City.
Glimpsing past the dainty walls of Elm City and the fresh greenery that comes along with it, Emma, Lilly and Derek were all heading down to Fudge Wonderland, the most authentic ice-cream and dessert parlour in the entire city.
Arriving shortly to the cold yet icy place, pun intended, Emma was reminiscing her times spent in Fudge Wonderland and what she had missed in the span of eight months. A lot has changed.
The walls were now a doubling shade of blue and cream, scintillating lights were outside flashing showing that this place was ready for attention and for business. The glass tables had increased showing that there was more desserts to offer. There were more new boards out with more new delicacies out.
"Emma! You're back." Dante, one of the workers spoke smiling as I nodded my head.
"Nice to see you too, Dante."
"Forget me, you've been away for eight months, are you okay?" Dante asked worriedly.
"I'm fine." He smiled at my response.
"Eight months was a long time, sweetheart." Kieran entered with milkshakes in hand as she placed them on a table, before wrapping her arms around me.
"Nice to see you, Kieran." I smiled as I was ready to pay for the shakes, however Derek and Lilly stopped me, as Derek, being the older brother placed a fifteen dollar bill on the counter, taking the change along with him.
Taking a seat at the booth, I started sipping on my milkshake, but stopped slightly seeing everything in slow motion as milkshake glasses were slipping from the tray.
My eye was staring at the glass falling as another worker had accidentally bumped into someone, resulting in this. My eyes turned back to see Emma speaking as the milkshake glasses had dropped to the ground.
Everyone whipping their heads to stare at the sudden noise, Kieran and Dante both came out to help the other worker as some customers were asking if the worker was alright.
"Poor girl. It's her first day as well." Lilly shook her head.
"I wonder who pushed her." Derek spoke as he continued slurping his shake.
"I'm going to go wash my hands, they feel sticky." I got up and moved towards the restrooms. Pushing past the door, I entered near the sinks as I switched on the tap.
Soaking my hands with the clear substance that ran through my hands as I glimpsed up at the mirror. My entire face looked slightly different.
My green eyes had a more glowing shade, my lips looked had remained their pinkish style but my cheeks felt more rosy as if electricity coursed through bringing out my cheekbones a lot more.
Did I ever have these features, or did I never bother looking in the mirror?
I dried my hands and was throwing the tissue in the ground when I felt my hand vibrate as I stared down at it, hearing the toilet cubicle, I pulled my hand down as I hid it behind me. Smiling at the lady who offered m one back and exited the restroom.
I stared at my hand which was practically unseeable, vibrating as if it could phase through something. I swallowed before somehow allowing my hand to go back to its natural stance.
Dispersing from the restroom, I moved towards the table as Derek and Lilly were chattering about something.
"Ready to go?" Derek asked as I nodded my head.
"Let's go." Lilly smiled as we all exited Fudge Wonderland. All of a sudden I feel my feet about to run — as if it was pushing me to go forwards.
"Uh, I'm gonna go to the Lab, Dr Flynn wanted to see me." I spoke as they nodded their heads.
"We'll come with you." Lilly offered.
"It's alright. I'll be back soon." I answered as the two siblings walked away.
I started walking fast until my feet randomly took off on their own, me landing in a corner of a building. I stared at my feet as they started moving quickly, to the side, before halting.
My feet started moving as speed picked up making me pass by people at such an incredible amount of speed, that it was probably hard that people couldn't spot me.
I could feel the fresh breeze on my face and passing by people of Elm City, I stumbled slightly ending up landing on the grass far from people and seeing that I had gained somewhat of power. A smile crept upon my face, as I was staring at my feet and hands seeing some surge of electricity going through it.
Racing back, I decided to head to ASTRAD Labs, where I stopped racing and started walking towards where Freddy, Dr Fields and Dr Flynn were waiting and were talking about something. Once they had spotted me, I could see a glimpse of worry but a whole lot of happiness in their eyes,
"Finally, you're back!" Freddy breathed out as I glanced at him.
"We need to run tests on you, Emma." Dr Fields nodded her head.
"Oh-okay." I nodded as I followed behind her, both of the two scientists were either checking my blood pressure or were checking my temperature.
"Her blood pressure is normal." Dr Fields stared at Freddy who was checking my temperature.
"Her temperature is normal." They both started talking before I felt something in my hand vibrate. I stared down at my hands to see they were vibrating again, looks like both scientists had caught on because they had started running about and placing something on my head.
"Hannah, place on the detector. Risk, see if anything changes now." Everyone nodded as they moved at Dr Flynn's command.
I heard small beeping before they changed as I stared at my hands and looked up at the three scientists in my calm manner.
"Dr Flynn, only the brain activity is changing. Her brain is picking up more in a short span of time, meaning-." Freddy was cut short.
"-she has the speed infiltrated into her." Dr Flynn smiled.
"Exactly, that'd only be possible if the particles had entered through her body and created somewhat of a collaboration, that must be the reason why she had been in a coma. To recover as well as to allow the organs to regenerate into something like this." Dr Fields spoke smiling.
"Emma, do you feel any pain?" Dr Flynn asked through the microphone. I shook my head with my bottom lip jutting out.
"Do you feel different when you phase?" Freddy asked me.
"Er, I feel more power emitting I suppose to my hand."
"Okay, has your body tried to phase through any object yet?" He asked, I shook my head not knowing how that'd happen.
"Okay. So we know she-."
"When your hands spark up the electricity do you feel anything?" Hannah asked as Freddy and Dr Flynn had stopped their conversation.
"I feel that I have energy inside of me and it's travelling through me." I shrugged hoping it'd help.
"Do you feel anything harmful from the electricity coursing through you?" Dr Flynn asked.
"No, not at all. It feels normal, like I'm used to it all."
"On the day of being struck by lightning, she had different chemicals pass through the area she was in, the lightning might've at least coursed through her that night." Dr Flynn spoke as I stared at the surroundings, the walls were a shade of beige and grey polished concrete walls, with shelves filled with different chemicals, TV monitors placed around the area, glass windows and surfaces where there was microphones and speakers fit into it, allowing others to hear as it is the open room.
"Alright, we've done a test, we need to do a couple of more." Dr a Fields spoke as she started to walk away, accidentally pushing down a chemical in a beaker.
My eyes averted towards the beaker as it was all in slow motion, all over again. My feet started moving involuntarily as they caught the beaker in hand, all three scientists completely astonished. Freddy looking quite amused.
"We've just discovered the reason behind the electricity." Freddy spoke as I saw Dr Flynn and Dr Fields all look at me in a surprised sort of manner.
