Battle Of Liberty

The sky was now a darker colour, the sun had shielded to a breezy weather as the people gathered around the open were standing there, holding cameras and tanning eagerly with their children. I guess, I'm not the only who is extremely happy. The man who had built an invention that I had been looking forward to was currently on stage.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, children as well. Today is a huge night for Elm City, to dissolve all the problems, to show that Elm City has some sort of prosperous monument. To show that Elm City matters." I smiled at that as a few wolf whistles were heard.

"Elm City may just be figured for the amazing police force, or its huge fast-growing coffee stores, but I assure you after this amazing invention. Elm City will be known for the willing police force, fast-growing coffee stores, ice-cream parlours — but also for this scientific technology. I present the atomic accelerator." The big screen behind Dr Flynn Bray revealed a particle accelerator and the process of how it works.

"This particle accelerator or atomic accelerator has many perks, generates the electricity to be used all over Elm City or even be generally a cool experience." Deep chuckles were heard amongst the crowd.

"Hey! Hey! Give it back!" Lilly called as I turned my head.

"That's got my documents and dissertation printed on it, Emma." Lilly pleaded, as I turned my head and saw the person taking off without turning back.

My feet started moving forwards at a slow pace before picking up a faster pace, the masked figure in front of me running was pushing past people knocking them down, as I apologised and helped them up again.

Ignoring the sharp pain shooting at my ankle, I pushed past the swarm of surprised people who were not expecting this at all.

"Sorry, sir." I apologised turning my head as I saw the person in front of me jump over a wall as I stared at them in shock, breathing for air, as I placed my hands on my knees before running again and jumping over the small wall.

Reaching a wall, I was breathing hard and turned a corner only to be hit on the face with the bag, I looked at the person who was throwing another blow. I ducked this time as they threw another punch, I blocked this one again, but spoke.

"Why don't you give me my sister's bag back." I spoke calmly only to see similar blue irises underneath the mask, I looked slightly confused, but saw it was none other than-.

I felt the taser attack my skin earning to not hold any strength anymore, making me lean on the wall for support as I saw the person run off again with Lilly's bag, I sucked in a deep breath, my brows furrowed as I started to chase after the person whom I knew.

The person stopped — hovering the bag up ready to smack me when I stopped them.

"Before you hit me. Just ask yourself this question." The person seemed a little patient.

"Why are you doing this?" I could see dark blue irises narrow, but I saw the answer evident.

Payback.

"Looks like the taser didn't work enough." I saw a knife being pulled out of their pocket.

"Stop, think about Josh." With that, the person glared at me.

"If Josh found out you were doing this, wouldn't he be upset that you'd do something like this." I tried to reason with them.

"Josh means nothing. Neither do you."

"That's not what you said that night." Their eyes softened for a bit before tightening.

It was as quick as a blink of an eye, the knife slit my hand making me pull back and hold my hand as the person threw a punch but I dodged this one as another brushed past my shoulder.

"ECPD! Put your hands where I can see them." That made sure the person dropped their weapon staring at me as Lilly came to my aid.

"Emma! Are you okay?" I nodded my head as I turned to face the only person who I thought was the person to never have done this. Ever.

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can be used against you." Lance had arrested the person as they just glared at me. I stared at the bag on the ground as Lilly had picked it up.

The pain on my hand was not affecting me whatsoever, it was replaced by pure astonishment.

"You're bleeding." Lilly spoke as soon as we reached my office, taking out some first kit. She took hold of my hand and started spraying as I hissed slightly. She placed on the bandage as I took a seat on my chair.

A phone started ringing as Lilly dried her hands, pulling it out her pocket, she answered it.

"No, Lucy. Alright, alright. I'll be there. I promise." Lilly chuckled as she hung up the phone.

"I need to go. Lucy's party is starting and since I've finished my dissertation and only need it to be checked; maybe we can do that tomorrow." Lilly grinned as I nodded my head.

"Take care of that hand." Lilly assured as I nodded my head, walking out the room. I stood up, switching on the computer, revealing the latest news stat on the atomic accelerator.

I started doing some analysis on some reports, hearing the news in the background.

"...the accelerator is still going to happen despite the terrible weather conditions. Dr Bray is assuring everyone that the atomic accelerator will proceed despite the weather." The news reporter repeated.

I stared at the reports in front of me, until I heard a noise. I turned my head around to see chemicals hovering above their beakers, making me turn back to the window to see a wave of orange float throughout Elm City.

"This just in, the atomic accelerator cannot be shut down, causing a huge orange-." The computer switched off as I moved to the glass to shut the opened window as well as pulling a lever down only to see orange coming this way. Tugging on the lever until it finally clicked, I felt something spark onto me, making it hard to pull my hand back as the huge wave of orange entered the surface, my hand shielding my eyes as I fell into shelves with chemicals, finding my vision cloudy.
