--ash pov--

     Today was another battle. And I'm fine with battles. It's Pokemon vs Pokemon. But the orders our general gave us were terrifying. 'Aim for the trainer, not the Pokemon'. I was just at the tip of the iceberg of insanity from this war. It just makes no sense. A Pokemon can defend, but the trainer. We have such powerful weapons, but are just so vulnerable.

     We were just waiting behind the rocks. But the other side didn't come. The tension was so high. "Advance" the orders came. We stood out from our cover. But something wasn't right. As we jogged forward a huge roar was heard. A huge Pokemon flew by, everyone screamed, but something in my head seemed to click. This Pokemon was something I know... Darkrai.

     As it swooped by trainers, it left Pokemon after Pokemon incapacitated. They were just floating there. Even as their trainers urged them to get up they couldn't. Then  I realized, I had to do something. I thought back to the past, what have I done before, but none of that can compare to this. Then I realized it, pikachu's pokeball. But would that be fair to him. Could I just do that. He HATED his pokeball. But then I knew it was this only choice. I had to get him out of here.

     But what tipped the moral scales is seeing the enemy soldiers, they began to advance. They started running at helpless trainers, sending attacks from their Pokemon. But the trainers friends were all incapacitated. Their Pokemon couldn't help. This wasn't right.

     I pulled out pikachu's pokeball and it shot out its usual line of red light. "Return" I said. The events around me seemed to happen in slow motion. Just as I called back pikachu, darkrai came by taking out all of the Pokemon around him. Then the soldiers came this way. I realized, they couldn't get pikachu. So I just turned around and threw his pokeball. I threw it as far as I could. When it landed I saw a faint flash of light and then knew he was safe.

     'Stay safe buddy' I thought as people began to run up to me knocking me on the ground and handcuffing me. I felt the wind knocked out of me, then a sharp pain in my arm and I was knocked out.
