Battle For The Pridelands Part 22: Moving Forward
Not long after the death of the former king Amri the Pridelands slowly recovered however Asha did not. Later that night shortly after Amri's death Queen Chiku stepped onto Pride Rock looking out as all of the Pridelands lionesses looked up at their Queen and waited. The golden furred lioness finally stepped forward before clearing her throat "lionesses of the Pridelands I have been informed this evening by The Lion Guard that the tyrant king is dead, we finally have peace in the Pridelands!" The Queen smiled victoriously as all of the lions cheered. Chiku gazed out at her kingdom she felt proud, her pride was finally free and her parents had gotten the justice that they deserved. As Chiku gazed out at her kingdom Ayubu took up his place by her side. Chiku noticed offering a warm smile before facing the lions once more "lionesses I will continue to be your Queen but Queens need kings so I am appointing my mate Ayubu as my king" the Queen announced.
All of the lionesses cheered as Chiku continued "Ayubu is the one that helped me overthrow Amri and I truly believe that he will always have the prides best interests at heart so you can trust him." The golden female looked over at the dark male affectionately "I just know that he will also have your best interests at heart too." The dark male was taken back "me? As your king?" He smiled a little a bit nervous. Chiku moved her head underneath his chin to nuzzle him snuggling into his mane "of course, I wouldn't want it any other way I love you and you'll be a great king" she said before moving away from him gazing at him with a smile "that is if you'd want to be my king." Ayubu smiled warmly before pulling her closer and rubbing his head against hers "I'd be honoured my Queen" he said softly "I'll do my best." Chiku smiled as they both embraced and snuggled with each other, quiet purrs escaping them both "I know you will I have full faith and confidence in you" she replied. Vitani smiled as she watched them both clearly happy for her eldest niece and happy that the battle was finally won.
Suddenly there was a shout from the crowd as more lionesses began to gather "murderer! You're no kind of queen!" Both lions whirled their heads around to see who had spoken out, there standing in the crowd was a very angry darkened grey and light grey lioness. Chiku glared slightly at her "you have no right to call me out on what was right Bianca!" The queen said angrily. Bianca who was once Amri's most loyal follower stood amongst the rest of Amri's remaining lionesses. The group was made up of 6 lionesses including herself. As Bianca glared back at Chiku a saddened Asha remained by her side. Ever since Asha had gone against her sister to defend Amri and potentially spare him from death Chiku was livid, she never could've imagined that her youngest sister of whom she had tried to protect from Amri would actually fall for the murderous lion. After all Amri had killed their parents and taken everything from them and on top of all that he had threatened Asha multiple times.
Asha remained silent however not wanting to speak up nor make matters worse. The dark princess already felt like she wasn't whole without the rogue king who she had just watched die in her embrace just several hours ago. Right now Asha felt nothing but an emptiness and bitter towards her peers. Bianca snarled at Chiku's reply "and you have no right to sit on the throne for what you've done!" She yelled "yes Amri was a tyrant and I know he's done horrible things but he was my friend, my best friend and her" Bianca angled her head over to a sad looking Asha. The Princess had her head held low trying her best to hold back her tears. Bianca looked back at Chiku atop of Pride Rock "Amri was her king, she loved him!" A fierce growl escaped the dark grey lioness's muzzle.
"Asha was foolishly blinded by that tyrants manipulation Bianca Amri was nothing more but an insignificant, ignorant, corruptive male, he never cared for anyone but himself" the queen said. It wasn't long before Asha finally spoke up herself unable to take her sisters demanding speech anymore. A loud roar sounded. All of the lions were shocked even Chiku herself as her sister let out a mighty roar. "Enough! Stop it!" The dark Princess demanded "I can't stand your pitiful lies anymore! Amri didn't manipulate me, he loved me! And I loved him too" Asha's anger slowly subsided as tears began to fill her eyes "I loved him..." she said weeping softly as tears began to pool at her eyelids and run down her cheeks.
Bianca looked over at the young princess her angry expression changing from one of anger at Chiku to sadness and concern for Asha. The dark grey lioness moved her head in towards the dark princess to slowly lick away the tears from her cheeks before lowering her head in to nuzzle against her. Asha returned the comforting nuzzle, gently moving her head down and under Bianca's chin as she weeped into the older lioness's upper chest. Chiku's patience and anger was wearing thin at this point but not so much so as Vitani's who was practically snarling now before stepping forward. "You're nothing but a traitor! You knew what Amri was but yet you still chose to go against us because of your childish teenage crush on him!" She snarled with gritted teeth at Asha who wept against Bianca's chest.
A growl escaped Bianca's muzzle. "Shut up!" The dark grey lioness said defending Asha "can't you see she's in pain?! Or are you suddenly blind oh so high and mighty Lion Guard leader" the lioness said with a glare before frowning "she's been through enough, let her be..." the dark tan lioness growled before preparing to storm down there but was met with a stern look from the golden lioness Queen forcing her to stay put. Ayubu who had remained quiet through all of this confrontation finally spoke after this. A low sigh escaped his muzzle before the dark lion now the king but not officially official yet stepped forward "as your new king I suggest that everybody calms down and that we let this go for now" he said with concern rather than worry. "We've all made some questionable decisions today one lioness more so" Ayubu's eyes wondered over to Asha who still cried into Bianca's chest as the older dark grey lioness comforted her. The dark unofficial king sighed again "please let's just put this behind us and move on. We have suffered a loss yes and even though it is at the cost of someone else it was a necessary sacrifice, decisions had to be made today and a debt had to be payed for wrong doings and past pain that was caused" the king spoke out.
Chiku looked at Ayubu and smiled a little at her mates choice of words it was now that she knew more than ever that she had made the right choice in choosing him as her new king. The Queen just nodded agreeing with Ayubu before turning back to face the rest of the Pridelanders aswell as Amri's lionesses aswell.
The golden Queen sighed "you are all dismissed we should all get some rest it's been a long day..." she said. All of the lionesses nodded before going their separate ways and retreating to the cave for the night. Bianca followed behind of what remained of her and Amri's pride whilst keeping Asha close by. The dark princess more than needed the rest and instead of joining the other Pridelanders in the cave inside Pride Rock, Asha instead spent the night in the small cave just down from Pride Rock. After Amri had been harsh towards Bianca and had hit her she and the rest of his lionesses had retreated to the small cave to be away from the king. It was this tiny cave that Bianca and her group were resting in now and Asha despite her sadness and heartbreak found comfort with them, she didn't want to sleep in the den with her sister and her new mate and she certainly didn't want to be around Vitani and the Pridelanders right now so she had been welcomed in by Bianca and her group. Chiku sighed in a stressed out way before turning to face Ayubu. "Thank you" she said smiling warmly at him. The dark male smiled back at her as he gazed at his mate and Queen "for what?" He asked. The golden lioness leaned in to nuzzle into his dark mane "for saying all that and being a true king" Chiku whispered.
Ayubu was taken back a little surprised not expecting that at all was what he said really what a real king was meant to say in times of conflict, however Chiku's soft purrs gave him the answer as she snuggled in closer. The male relaxed smiling warmly before moving in closer and resting the side of his head on top of Chiku's head. After a while of snuggling together the pair settled down on the grass together just below pride rock cuddling up to each other as they gazed at the moon and stars before falling asleep together.
