Battle For The Pridelands Part 15: A Way Of Understanding

Asha couldn't sleep, there were many things going through her head lots of thoughts raced through her mind as she thought about the plan what if she couldn't do it? What if it failed? What if Bahati along with all his troubles decided to ruin it. With a loud groan but not loud enough to wake anyone else up Asha slowly got up and left the cave. As she walked outside she noticed the top of Pride Rock being empty, Bahati had gone to sleep and was inside the cave by the looks of it for he wasn't in the spot that they had talked just hours ago. With a sigh for herself the dark Princess stepped down from Pride Rock before returning to the very same field that she had been in the night that her sister Chiku left the Pridelands.

Asha looked down sadly before looking up at the stars for guidance. "Asha?" A voiced asked in question, the Princess tilted her head up to Amri standing not far from her behind her. Asha was quite confused why was he out here? Was he keeping an eye on her? The dark female turned towards him as he began to approach "your majesty? What are you doing out here?" She asked the male. Amri smiled a small smile "oh well actually.. I just came for some reflection" his smile turned into a frown as he looked down. Asha was taken back him Reflection? She thought to herself, I wonder why. Asha walked over to sit next to the king forcing a smile "reflection? What could you possibly have to reflect about?" The Princess asked. The orange male looked up at her a bit saddened "I don't know lately ever since Chiku has left I can't help but feel bad" he replied.

The dark Princess couldn't believe this there was no way he felt guilty, getting somewhat annoyed Asha felt herself snap a little at him "no you don't! You ruined her life why would you feel bad?!" Both Amri and then Asha were shocked at this before Asha continued "don't think I don't know what you did you murdered my parents and took over my Pride I may have been a cub your majesty but I knew what was going on why?! Just why?!" Amri growled a little "oh please Princess I did what any male would do to survive!" He calmed down before sighing and turning away from the young lioness. Asha growled slightly before noticing his sadness and looking at him confused "what do you mean to survive?" She asked looking concerned. Asha didn't want to feel this way but she cared for others even if those others were ones who killed her parents.

The king sighed "Asha.. before this life now I wasn't like any other lion, sure I was born into a normal Pride like everybody else but.." Asha looked on in concern as she listened to the orange male "I was miserable... my mother died giving birth to me and my father well he just blamed me for it then when I was a young teenager he exiled me from my home without reason." Asha was shocked at this "your majesty I–" Asha started but was cut off by Amri "Amri... call me Amri" he sighed "I don't deserve the title of king I just did what I had to to survive when I was exiled from my home Bianca followed me and came with me she didn't have to but she did and into exile we then found a group of abandoned lionesses, they joined us and I sort of became their leader because they were greatful to me for saving them."

The young Princess listened to the males tale a face of sadness and surprised "so why take over my Pride and kill my parents?" She asked as she walked up to the orange male. Amri looked at her a feeling of guilt in his eyes and this time it wasn't false. "I never meant to Asha I promise it'd just my pride and I needed a home and I wanted my own Pride to rule" Amri said before growling "my father never thought I could do it he always put me down but I showed him!" He smirked proudly before Asha gave him a sarcastic yet annoyed look. The king coughed before continuing "anyways! And so my journey began I found the Pridelands and my Pride was weak from hunger we'd lived on the dry Savannah for years and were only eating scraps left behind by other Prides" Amri sighed "I had no choice we'd already stolen prey, a lonely antelope that had wondered too far the evening before the attack it was just enough to give us strength for the plan" Amri said he then looked the dark Princess in the eyes going closer to her "I never would've done it Ash but you have to understand that we had nothing so I had no choice believe it or not I was hesitant about attacking the night before I was nervous, scared and unsure, it was actually Bianca's support and words that convinced me."

Asha growled turning away "right and then you went and killed both my parents and made my sisters life miserable and oh what a surprise it convinced you you could lead!" She snapped. Amri sighed "I know... and there are some things I regret like for instance killing your parents and lying but the Pride never would've accepted me if I told them the truth" the orange male sat on the grass next to Asha looking down. Tears burned in the back of Asha's eyes but she wouldn't let him see her cry "even if it meant hurting those around you!..." she said sadly. Amri sighed as he pulled Asha close to him but "Asha I would never do anything to hurt you in anyway I didn't have a choice you must understand that."

Asha looked away looking down from the male refusing to meet his eyes. Amri sighed as he took his paw and brought Asha's head up with it "I promise you Princess right now I swear I will never murder anybody else again the last thing I want is to hurt you be-because..." the king looked away a little shy "because I like you a lot." Asha was shocked blushing a little before looking away "how can I even trust you?" The dark Princess spoke. Asha didn't know what to think at this point she had to admit though that seeing this side of Amri was unexpected. The king looked down "I understand if you don't I don't blame you Princess but please just give me a chance to prove myself" he offered her a kind smile.

The dark Princess looked up at him before forming a small smile back at him "alright but only if you keep to your promise." The female nuzzled him unexpectedly smiling, the orange male was taken back slightly a shocked look on his face before he soon warmed up to the young Princess and nuzzled her back smiling "I promise" Amri said, although Asha had trouble trusting him she felt sorry for Amri and what he had gone through and she wanted to show him comfort. Amri too despite the way he was he did regret some things now and he wasn't sure whether or not Asha liked him back like he liked her Asha however was now conflicted between this version of Amri and the plan and her stress began to worry though but only time could have predicted what would happen next.
