Chapter 12: Jason Todd

"What? I am not Batman." Said Bruce as the kid looked at him in confusion.

"Well, when you came back into town and helped me you used the same technique that the Batman uses on TV. Also the Batman came into town right after you came back. And I have also been trailing you so yeah." Said the kid as he looked at Bruce.

"Okay, how much to keep you from telling something?" Asked Bruce as he pulled out his wallet.

"No money Mr. Wayne I would like you to train me how to fight." Asked the kid as Bruce looked up at him.

"You want me to train you how to fight?" Asked Bruce.

"Yes, will you?" The kid asked as Bruce looked at Alfred.

"It would be nice to have someone have your back Bruce." Said Alfred as nodded yes to the kid.

"Fine! I will train you but first what is your name?" Asked Bruce as he had the kid follow him down stairs to the hidden bat cave.

"Jason Todd." Said the kid.

"Well then Jason lets start." Said Bruce as he took Jason down to the bat cave.

Jason was surprised with how many things Bruce had hidden under his manor. The real bat mobile, at least seven computers, and two different bat suits. Jason looked around and pretty much touched everything he could.

"This is amazing." Said Jason as he sat walked onto a training mat. "Is this where you will train me?"

"Yes, the mat is as tough as a concrete floor so try not to fall over." Said Bruce with a chuckle.

"Cool, so when do we start?" Jason had a lot of questions but not all of them Bruce answered.

"Right know." Said Bruce as he walked onto the mat and took of his shoes having Jason do the same. "I am going to throw a high punch block up." Said Bruce as Jason stood ready.

Bruce through two punches both Jason blocked, but he stepped back both times.

"Again." Said Bruce as he swung two more punches.

Jason blocked them both still moving back when he blocked. Bruce looked disappointed and Jason did not know why. Then it was Jason's turn to do a few punches. He threw two back to back right arm left arm, Bruce blocked them both without moving his feet. Jason looked at him noticed what Bruce was saying with out talking. Bruce swung two punches and Jason blocked them with moving his feet as little as possible.

"Much better." Said Bruce as he had Jason get ready again. "High mid punches ready." Said Bruce giving Jason no time to react.

Jason blocked the first two and the second but the third hit him right in his side. Jason fell down to the mat Bruce let out his hand and helped Jason up.

"Again." Said Bruce.

And they practiced again and again and again. Bruce and Jason spent six months practicing. Till Bruce decided it was time to give Jason something. Bruce had Jason follow him to a new cabinet that had not been there when Jason started training.

"Is it for me?" Asked Jason as Bruce opened the cabinet and showed him a red suit with a R imprinted on the left shoulder, a small grapple gun, and a black mask and cape.

"I hope this fits your comfort level." Said Bruce trying not to sound dumb or weird.

"It is perfect when do I get to try it out?" Asked Jason as he looked at Bruce who nodded to him. "Really right know, cool." Said Jason as he put on the suit.

The whole thing fit snug, not to much space just enough to have mobility. He looked up at Bruce with a glare for as if he was a criminal.

"So? Does this work?" Asked Bruce as he looked at Jason.

"Yes." Said Jason as he dropped his glare.

"Well just one more thing." Bruce said as he gave him a small bow staff.

"This is kind of small." Jason said when he held it in his hands.

"Pull on both ends." Said Bruce.

Jason pulled on both ends having it extended into a more reasonable bow staff. Jason twirled it around having this being his first time holding an actual bow staff and not just a piece of wood Bruce gave him to train with.

"Thank you Bruce for all of this." Said Jason as he gave Bruce a hug.

"Your welcome Jason." Said Bruce.
