The White Portuguese

The next day, Barbara decided to pay a visit to her mentor and friend, Bruce Wayne, AKA Batman. And Alfred too. "You need a ride to Wayne Manor?" Dr. Woof offered. "I would love one," Barbara said jovially. The two companions then went into the TARDIS. "This thing never ceases to amaze me," said Barbara as Dr. Woof set the coordinates for Wayne Manor. The TARDIS then travelled all the way to Wayne Manor outside. "Can you stay here?" asked Barbara. "Yeah, take your time," replied Dr. Woof as Barbara then patted him on the head. Barbara got out of the TARDIS and went to the door outside Wayne Manor. What Barbara didn't know was that Alfred had been bickering with Bruce about stealing Kryptonite from Lex Luthor to use to kill Superman. Alfred was anything but pleased. Their argument was interrupted when Barbara rang the doorbell. "Hold that thought Master Bruce," said Alfred as he went upstairs to see who rang. He went to the front and opened the door, and saw Barbara, who was actually walking! "Miss Gordon," Alfred said with surprise. "Hello Alfred," Barbara said happily. "What a pleasant surprise," Alfred said jovially, mostly because he didn't expect Barbara to be walking again all of a sudden. "Is Bruce home, Alfred?" asked Barbara. "Yes he is," said Alfred, "you're meaning to surprise him, aren't you?" Barbara smiled while nodding yes, and Alfred mutually nodded, knowing Bruce would at least like this surprise. "Come with me to the cave Miss Gordon," said Alfred as Barbara then closed the door behind her, following him. "Perhaps you can reason with Master Bruce," said Alfred as they took the stairs, descending into the Batcave. "What's he up to this time?" Barbara asked with dismay. "Oh, you'll see," said Alfred.

By then, they made it to the Batcave, and Barbara looked around. She looked at Jason's old Robin costume that had been spray painted with, and I Quote, "HA HA HA JOKE'S ON YOU BATMAN" She sighed sadly.

"Oh Bruce, I have a surprise for you!" Alfred called out. "What is it Alfred?" asked Bruce as he walked in, then suddenly saw Barbara. "Barbara?" Bruce asked in surprise. "Hey Bruce," said Barbara as she happily hugged him. Bruce wasn't really the hugging type of person, but he was willing to let the one person whom he considered a daughter to hug him. "You're walking again," Bruce said. He wasn't sure how she was walking again, but that didn't matter. He was happy for her. Even if he didn't show it. "Surprise," said Barbara as she looked at him. "I recently talked with your father," said Bruce. "Yeah, he knows that I can walk again," said Barbara. "He was none too happy knowing you're Batgirl," said Bruce. "Guess the cat's out of the bag," Barbara said bashfully. "So, what have you been up to?" Barbara rhetorically asked. "Recently found out about a mineral from the planet Krypton," explained Bruce, "it has the capability to weaken a Kryptonian's cells, and it's being delivered to Lex Luthor."

Being the daughter of the Commissioner and being mentored to whom she considered the World's Greatest Detective, she picked up on these detective skills. "You're going to steal this Kryptonite?" asked Barbara. "Kryptonite?" Alfred asked, baffled. "Actually, that's not a bad name," said Bruce. "Thank you," said Barbara, "what are you going to do with this Kryptonite?" Bruce gave Barbara a look she was all too familiar with. That's when she realized. "No..." She realized that Bruce intended to use this Kryptonite to kill Superman! "Barbara, he's dangerous," said Bruce. "Bruce you're judging him too quickly," Barbara said, trying to reason with him. "You saw the damage he's caused!" Bruce said. "What if it was unintentional?" Barbara said. Unlike Bruce, she was the type of person that believed that maybe there was good in people. She saw good in this Superman, and he didn't seem like the type of person to be evil. Unlike Joker. The Joker was a monster, plain and simple. "Barbara, I'm doing this, period," said Bruce. Barbara sighed sadly. Bruce sadly looked at Barbara as he said, "it's too late for me, Barbara. But it's not too late for you. You'll be a far better hero as Batgirl that Gotham deserves more than me."  Barbara smiled sadly at Bruce as she then hugged him and said, "I don't condone what you're about to do, but please be safe..." Bruce nodded and said, "I will."
