The day had started out so normal, so ordinary. Nothing different, nothing new. The ongoing days of fighting villains and petty crooks, the sleepless nights that lead to exhaustion until their bodies couldn't take it anymore and they blacked out had taken a huge toll on their physical and mental health. Of course it would, it would to any human. Any normal person wouldn't had even lasted this long, they wouldn't need to. It's not exactly 'normal' to go out at night and play vigilante.

Dick woke up on the floor of the Batcave, still in the Batman suit. His head hurt like hell– he must've fallen again. The collapsing had been occurring more often. Damian tried his hardest to stay awake for as long as he could but that failed him a couple days ago. Both Dick and Damian hadn't slept in over two weeks, other than three minute power naps. Gotham hadn't taken a break. It was murder after robbery after kidnapping. It. Never. Stopped. Of course Batman and Robin couldn't stop either. Gotham was their city, their responsibility to protect it. If they went just one night without patrol, more chaos than ever would spread throughout the city.

"Joker's out again." Damian said tiredly as he scanned the screen of the Batcomputer. Dick groaned before standing up. "What's he done this time?" Dick asked, rubbing his head where he landed on it. "He's at the docks. He's not alone." Damian said, starting to sound more serious. "Harley?" Dick questioned. Damian kept looking at the screen. "And Poison Ivy, and Riddler, and Scarecrow." Damian answered. "What're they all doing together?" Dick said, walking over to Damian. "Not sure. We should get down there before they do whatever they're planning. Dick nodded.

The two got into the batmobile and sped out of the cave. Dick's driving was a little wobbly but he was focused enough not to kill them.
Once they made it to the docks, they hid the batmobile and found where the villains were meeting. They found them in a big abandoned warehouse (why is it always warehouses) that was riddled with spiders, rats, and dust. For a warehouse it was quite clean. Cleaner than some alleyways in Gotham.

Batman and Robin snuck into an open window near the top of the building. They watched and waited as the villains schemed and plotted. "Batman." Damian whispered. "Yeah, Robin?" Dick whispered back. Damian hesitated before saying, "Promise you'll stay safe?" Dick smiled. "I promise." They waited a little while longer before ambushing the villains. Damian got behind a stack of boxes near where all 5 of them were. When Dick's signal came, he pushed the bottom box. They all tumbled down on top of the villains, who were all surprised by Batman and Robin's appearance.

And just like that, the fighting commenced. Although how exhausted Damian and Dick were, they seemed to be winning. Damian was fighting off Poison Ivy and Harley while Dick handled the others. It was going well..until Damian heard a gunshot.

Everything seemed to go in slow motion. Damian turned as soon as he heard the loud bang. Dick was laying on the ground, covering a wound in his chest that was bleeding profusely. Damian ran over to him, the Joker laughing maniacally in the background. Panic struck Damian as he lifted Dick's head up and put more pressure on his wound. There was so much blood, too much blood. Tears stained Damian's mask as he whispered, "It's going to be ok, you'll be ok." Dick's free hand reached over and held Damian's, a pained smile on his face as tears filled his own eyes. "It'll be ok, Robin.." he trailed off. His head fell and his hand went limp. Damian shook him repeatedly.
"No, you promised. You promised me!"
