Random thing I thought of
Jason- 10
_____________
Jason had never knew his father. All he knew was he abandoned him and his mother. When his mother died of drug overdose and he was left on his own on the streets, he never questioned the whereabouts of his father. He had more important things to do.
But now that he was with Bruce, he had time to think of his past. Not that he liked to, but he got suspicious of who his father was, and where he was. He didn't know why, he hadn't really established his reasoning. It was just something he felt he needed to know.
"Hey Alfred? Where's Bruce?" Jason asked, walking into the library where Alfred was dusting bookshelves. "He left on a business meeting, Master Jason." Alfred answered. Jason thought for a second then walked out of the room. He made his way to Bruce study and slowly opened the door. Once in, he closed the door behind him and walked over to the desk.
He sat in the big chair behind the large oak desk and started spinning. Whenever Jason knew Bruce was gone, he liked to play around in his study.
When he went to push himself to spin around a couple more times, his foot hit a small cabinet, opening it and causing a few papers to slip out. Jason stopped spinning and got out of the chair. He bent down to pick up the papers and put them back in the cabinet. He was about to close it when he saw a small manilla folder labeled 'Willis Todd'.
Jason's curiosity peaked as he took the folder out and examined it. He opened the top of it and pulled out a sheet of paper. On it contained information written in Bruce's own handwriting.
"Currently in prison for fraud"
"Biological father"
"Left at the age of 2"
"Abusive to Sheila"
It all clicked when Jason saw his mother's name. He stared at the information. Looking at the words, reading them over and over again. He dumped all the other papers inside the folder on the floor. He picked up a newspaper picture of Willis being shoved into a police car. Another of his mug shots.
He found it becoming harder and harder to breathe as his anger flared up and a few stray tears stained the papers on the ground. He wiped at his eyes and stood up abruptly.
Jason heard the front door open and close, and Alfred's greeting. Bruce was home. His fists clenched, he walked out of the study and to the front hall where Bruce had just walked in from. Bruce noticing Jason's presence, went to greet him, until he saw his look, his glare.
Bruce gave him a confused look as Jason walked up to him. Jason pushed him, hard enough for him to stumble back a bit. "Hey!–" Bruce started. "You, you're disgusting! You disgusting piece of fucking shit!" Jason yelled. Bruce was shocked at how Jason was acting. That was until he held up the newspaper picture of the man. "You hid my own goddamn father from me!" Jason yelled again.
"Jason–" Bruce started again. "He's a bad man.." "You kept him secret" Jason interrupted. "I didn't want you to try and find him.." "You. Kept. My. Father. A. Secret!" Jason repeated, his face red with anger as tears streamed down his face. He weakly punched Bruce in the stomach. "I know," Bruce said softly. Bruce wrapped an arm around Jason, as he threw a couple more weak punches. He finally calmed down and leaned into Bruce's hug, crying into his chest. "I'm sorry." Bruce finished.
Bruce brought Jason and himself to the ground, still holding onto the boy. Bruce ruffled his hand through Jason's hair. "If it means that much to you," Bruce sighed. "you can visit him." Jason stayed silent for awhile before answering, "I don't want to see him" Bruce was slightly shocked at his answer but didn't say anything. "Why did you hide him from me?" Jason asked. "I didn't want you getting associated with him. I knew you'd want to know eventually." Bruce answered. A few more minutes of silence passed.
"Is it my fault he abandoned me?" Jason questioned. Bruce lifted Jason off of him to look at him. "Jason, that man is not right in the head. He is a selfish, greedy man who would do anything for money. Nothing was your fault, understand?" Bruce explained sternly. Jason nodded.
"Bruce?" Jason said again. "Yes?" Bruce replied. "I prefer you as a dad over him." Jason said, gesturing to the picture on the ground. Bruce smiled.
