It was finally the last day of school and Bruce had told Alfred that he wanted to go to the park after school and would walk home. It took awhile but Alfred finally obliged. He should've known that's not what Bruce was doing. Instead he was going searching for his parents' murderer. They had been murdered almost a year ago and the killer was still not found.

Bruce was outraged when he found out the police had dropped the investigation so, he took the matter into his own hands.

He was walking through downtown Gotham, aka the worst part of the city. It was the most crime infested area and the place Bruce's parents were murdered. It was no doubt the boy looked out of place. He was still wearing his Gotham Academy uniform with his hair fixed neatly.

He ignored the odd looks he got and the numerous people asking for the time (obviously they would next ask for money). He turned into an alleyway but stopped when he heard someone above him calling to him. "Hey kid!" He looked up to see a girl not much older than him standing on the rail of a fire escape. She jumped down and he was able to get a better look at her.

She had green eyes and frizzy hair, a hood and goggles covering the top of it. "You're practically a walking jewel down here. Are you trying to get mugged?" She said. She remembered seeing him when the Wayne's were murdered, making her the only other witness other than Bruce. Bruce looked at her weird. "Why do you care? You steal yourself, don't you?" Bruce asked.

"Well yeah, everyone steals here. It's how you survive." She replied. "And anyways, I don't have a stone heart. I know everyone knows who you are and walking around here alone will get you killed. I'm only warning you." She finished, beginning to walk away. "Hey wait!" Bruce called. She stopped and turned back, looking annoyed.

"Can you show me where this is?" Bruce asked showing her a rippled piece of paper with an address. At school when he went to the bathroom, it was written on the mirror in marker directed towards him, saying the person who wrote it had information on his parents and the name of a place. Bruce knew it was a long shot and could either go good or terribly bad but he was willing to take the chance.

"You do not want to go there." She warned with a serious tone. "Why not?" Bruce questioned. "It's bad news, especially for you. It's where all the bounty hunters get their business." She answered. "I need to go there. It's really important." Bruce replied. The girl thought for a moment. "You know what, what the hell, why not? Your funeral not mine." She shrugged, beginning to walk past Bruce in the other direction. Bruce stood there for a second before following the girl.

After a bit of uncomfortable silence, Bruce tried to make conversation, which really wasn't his forte. "So uh, what's your name?" Bruce asked. "Selina." She answered simply. "And your..Brian? Bruno?" Selina asked, pretending to forget his name. It's hard to forget when his name is plastered everywhere. "Bruce. It's Bruce." He grumbled.

"So where'd you get the name of this place anyways?" Selina questioned, not liking the silence either. Bruce thought if he should lie about it or tell her the truth. He just met her after all. "I looked it up." He said. "Lie." She stated. Bruce looked at her, waiting for her to explain. "When you search it up it's shown as a nail salon with very low ratings." She finished. Bruce sighed before telling the truth, "It was written on the bathroom mirror at my school."

Selina laughed a bit, "And you're gunna listen to it? You must really wanna die." "I'm taking my chances." Bruce replied looking away. "You're a billionaire for fucks sake. Someone might've wrote that just to get you down here to use as ransom." Selina reasoned. Bruce scoffed. "Well this is really important. If that happens then so be it." Bruce said, a serious tone taking over his voice. Selina didn't push much further after that.

A while passed and the two finally reached a very run down building. Bruce was about to walk in when Selina caught his arm. "You can't walk in there like that." Selina said quickly, gesturing to his clothes. "Well it's not like I have anything else." Bruce replied.

Selina thought for a minute before grabbing some dirt that was poking through the cracked pavement and rubbing it on his face. She messed up his hair a bit until Bruce started pushing her hands away and saying, "Stop it!" "I'm trying to help, chill." She replied. "Take off the vest." She said, pointing to the blue vest with the Gotham Academy crest on it. He sighed before pulling it off, leaving him with a white button up. "Here, you can borrow my jacket." Selina offered, taking off her black leather jacket and handing it to him. He took it while mumbling a 'thank you'. "Good enough. Come on." She said, beginning to walk up to the building.

Bruce followed as she pushed open the large doors. Inside was full of loud men and women, gathered around tables and the bar. None of them gave much attention to the two newcomers in the room. Bruce and Selina pushed around the room as they began to get some weird glances but nothing more than that. Everyone was too busy drinking or talking.

They almost reached the bar when someone grabbed Bruce's arm. He tried pulling away but the man held a firm grip. "Let go of me!" Bruce yelled. "You're that rich kid ain't ya? Wayne." The man said. Bruce started to panic but didn't answer.

"Take your grimy hands off him Larry." Selina said, suddenly appearing in between the two. "Stay out of this street rat, this has nothin to do with you." Larry grumbled, pulling Bruce toward him. "You're nothing but a creepy bastard." Selina started. "And we'll be going." She finished, grabbing Bruce's wrist and pulling him towards her. Bruce grunted as he lost his balance for a second but caught himself. "I really think he'll be coming with me." Larry replied, pulling Bruce back to him. Bruce felt like his arms would rip off at any second if this continued.

Soon a crowd began to form around the three. Bruce panicked, wondering how they would get out of there. Gaining a sudden burst of courage, Bruce kicked the man firmly in the knee, causing him to lose his balance as well as his grip on Bruce. Selina took this as the perfect moment to get out. She grabbed Bruce's wrist and dragged him through the huge crowd surrounding them.

They dodged grabbing hands and others trying to attack them. One got a hold of Selina's shoulder and swung a knife at her, but she was quick to step on his foot and steal the knife from him. They finally got passed and bust through the door, continuing to run until they were out of sight.

They both took a second to breathe. "Are you ok?" Bruce asked, now able to catch his breath. The adrenaline from before was already starting to wear off and he felt extremely tired. "Yeah, you?" Selina replied. Bruce nodded in response. "Sorry you didn't really get any information. Things got crazy." Selina said. "It's fine. I'm just glad we got out of there." Bruce answered. "I should probably go. I gotta meet up with someone soon." Selina said, beginning to walk away.

"Wait!" Bruce called. "What is it this time?" Selina asked annoyed, while turning around. Bruce took off the black leather jacket and held it out to her. "Almost forgot this." Selina took it from him and put it on. "Right, thanks. Well I'll see you around maybe." Selina said, climbing up a fire escape. Bruce slightly waved to her, knowing she couldn't see him. He sighed and began to walk back towards the manor. But one thing stuck in his mind.

He had to meet her again.
