It was a quite evening at the mountain after a mission. Artemis had just revealed the truth about her family to everyone and they were all surprised, all except one.
Robin.
She should have known that he would be the one to figure it out, after all he was the smartest out of everyone on the team and he was a great detective.
She sat on the couch lost in thought. The others seemed to be okay with that fact that her whole family were villains but everything felt totally different around them.
Everything was built on a lie and now that that lie was told, she felt lighter but also slightly more weighed down.
This whole time, she was so desperate to make sure none of them found out and now she didn't know how to be around them, they knew everything, well almost everything.
They didn't know how hard her dad pushed her, trained her. The late night fights, the bruises she constantly got. They knew nothing, but maybe Robin knew. He did know about her family and it didn't seem to matter one bit to him. He was always so understanding, she didn't get why though.
Artemis glanced over at Robin who was standing beside Wally.
She liked Wally but now, now she was seeing Robin in a new light and she didn't know how to feel about it. So she quickly got up and headed off towards her room in the mountain. She needed some time alone, some time to think about everything, to think about...Robin.
As she walked past her team, heading towards the hallway, Robin glanced over at her. His masked eyes silently asking her what was wrong and if she was okay.
Artemis simply nodded her head and kept going to her room.
She shut her door behind her and the silence in the room felt so loud to her. Artemis slowly walked over towards her bed and sat down with a sigh.
She had a new forming crush on Wally but, she couldn't figure out what she was now feeling towards Robin.
Artemis had always seen him as a little kid brother type but now, she didn't know.
She flopped backwards on her bed and stared up at her ceiling, lost in thought.
Memories of her working with Robin came into her mind, along with her and Wally. Then she remembered fighting along side Robin when the Reds attacked the mountain. He was so brave and confident that he kept her going and even though they didn't defeat the Reds in the end, they didn't save the team. They did survive, she survived because of him. She was alive because of Robin.
A tiny smile graced her face. She then thought about his jokes and laughter and his sly smiles he always wore. His presence, him being around just lit up the room.
Wally was a goof ball, he was funny also but he always got on her nerves and drove her nuts, which was one of the things she liked about him. He knew how to make her so mad but then seconds later break down some of her walls she has built up around herself over the years.
Artemis sided and rolled over and closed her eyes, she was getting a headache thinking about all of this, plus making herself feel even more confused about it all.
After a little while of still thinking about both boys a memory popped into her mind and she frown and sat up.
This sadness built up in her as she replayed it over and over again. Allowing the hurt words hurt her heart even more.
"What you proved is that your insecure and selfish'' said Wally harshly at her. She quickly got changed in her outfit and then grabbed her bow and headed out. The sadness she felt was now turning into furry inside her and it was burning her up and she wanted so badly to leave the cave and shot something, to be alone and clear her mind.
Recognized. Artemis; B-07
Robin peeked up and looked off in the distance and narrowed his eyes. Then he looked over at the others and saw that none of there were paying attention to the fact that Artemis just left the mountain without saying bye.
Robin knew that Artemis has been off lately after telling everyone the truth about who her family was but something else seemed to be clearly bothering her.
So Robin hopped over the back of the couch and disappeared without the others noticing, doing one of his disappearing ninja acts.
Robin hopped onto his R-cycle and pulled up his holo-screen and looked for Artemis' tracker. He smiled and then zoomed off down the road, after her.
Artemis was walking along side the road, carrying her bow in one hand while her eyes were fixed on the night's sky. She then stopped walking when she heard a vehicle coming her direction. She figured that it would continue past her and on its way, what she didn't think was it was going to stop behind her. She froze, gripping slightly tighter on her bow and turned slowly around, preparing herself for anything.
Her eyes were met with a familiar bike and person.
Robin.
He slowly removed his helmet and looked over at her. Her eyes connected with his masked ones and she smiled.
"But it never mattered. You're one of us.'' said Robin after she told the team who her family was.
Her anger was slowly pushed down and a light, warmness filled her chest. He smiled at her and leaned over the top of his bike, resting his arms over top his helmet and laying his chin on his hands.
"Hey'' said Robin and she walked closer towards him.
"Hi'' Artemis said to Robin.
