• Chapter Twelve •

*Present*

Savannah woke up from her dreams and rubbed her stomach soothingly as she realized how hectic her life had been when she was only a teenager. "You okay baby?" Nat asked from behind her and Savannah turned on to her other side slowly as she nodded.

"I had dreams about the past..." She trailed off and Nat stared at her in wonder as he slowly placed his hand on her cheek and rubbed her cheek gently. "It was about everything that happened in high school. Us meeting, the loss of Emma and Luke's first child, finding out I was pregnant with Diana. It's just," She sighed as she looked up at him. "That I realized we've been through a lot over the passed ten years and I am so unbelievably in love with you. I don't ever want to lose you, Nathan." She breathed out as she pulled him in close and gave a passionate kiss.

A few hours later, Savannah woke up with a jolt and she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. "Did you pee the bed?" Nat asked groggily as he looked up at her with half closed eyes and Savannah shook her head quickly as she clutched her stomach and took in a ragged breath.

"No, my water broke Nathan. Our son is coming." She whispered and Nat's eyes popped open as he jumped out of the bed and started changing out his damp clothes.

"Oh damn! Okay, good thing I packed that bag two nights ago with all of our stuff. I'm gonna get changed and then we'll get going." He said as he started running around the room frantically trying to get everything in order.

"What about Diana?" Savannah asked teasingly and he froze in place as he looked at her in shock.

"Oh crap, I forgot about my baby! Um..." He trailed off trying to think as Savannah giggled just another contraction hit her and she hissed in pain.

"It's okay, Nat. Just call my Mom and Dad, they'll take care of her." She said softly as she slowly climbed out of the bed and started changing out of her clothes.

"I can't believe you're not going to be carrying our son in their anymore." He breathed out amazed and Savannah smiled as she opened a drawer and pulled out fresh clothes.

"I know, but at least we'll finally get to have him here with us." She sighed happily and Nat grinned at her as he pulled out his cellphone.

"You're right, I'm gonna call your parents and tell them to come on over and take care of Diana. I love you." He said sternly and Savannah smiled as she felt her eyes sting with tears.

"I love you too, Nathan." Savannah whispered and Nat grinned as he quickly grabbed the bag and jogged out of the room with the phone held next to his ear.

Savannah laid in the hospital bed as she hissed in pain and glared at her nurse. "Can I get the damn epidural now?" Savannah demanded and the nurse shook her head.

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Walker. But you're not far a long enough to get it yet, you're almost there though." The nurse said reassuringly and then left the room. Savannah huffed as she collapsed back against the pillow and looked up at the ceiling angrily.

"You're one of the most famous basketball player's in the NBA right now and you can't do anything about giving me any drugs?" Savannah pleaded and Nat shook his head sorrowfully, he hated seeing her in so much pain and there was nothing more in the world he wanted to do than to ease the pain.

"I got you the best doctors, the best hospital room, but I can't give you drugs as of right now, baby. I'm sorry." He muttered and Savannah groaned tiredly as she squeezed her eyes shut and grimaced at the pain.

"I can't believe I endured this pain at seventeen years old and now I can't even handle it at twenty-four." Savannah said sarcastically and Nat reached out and grasped her hand into his and squeezed it gently.

"You got this baby, I believe in you." He said reassuringly and Savannah nodded her head slowly as she took in a slow, deep breath and then release it.

"You're right, I've done this once already. I can do it again." Savannah said confidently and smiled at Nat who smiled right back.

"Of course you can, baby." He whispered and leaned over to kiss her quickly.

Once Savannah got the epidural, she started to feel loopy and not herself as she looked around the room in a haze. "Did you know," She said to Nat as she pointed at him, her finger wobbling around. "That I was very mad that you weren't here to see Diana being born?" She asked and Nat stared at her surprised.

"You were mad? You didn't tell anyone, Sav. You didn't let anyone besides your Mom and Emma know that you were giving birth." He reminded her and Savannah shrugged as she fiddled with her hospital blanket.

"Yeah, but still. You should've been there." She muttered tiredly and then her eyes started to drift shut and Nathan sighed. He rubbed his hand down his face sadly and stared at her peaceful face as he felt bad for not being there. He always felt bad about not being there for her and Diana almost eight years ago, but there was nothing he could do about that. He was here now and he loved his girls and his new son that was coming shortly.

Nathan shook Savannah gently later on that morning and Savannah looked up at him with tired eyes. "Hey baby, the Doctor just told me that they're prepping a delivery room right now for you. You're about to have our so finally, Savannah." He whispered sternly and Savannah smiled as she rubbed her stomach excitedly.

"I can't wait to meet him, baby." Savannah admitted and Nathan chuckled as he nodded his head. He leaned over and kissed her gently while he stroked her hair soothingly and he was never happier than he was in that moment.

"Push Savannah!" Nathan said encouragingly and Savannah moaned as she took in a ragged breath and squeezed Nat's hand as tight as she possible could and pushed with all her strength.

"It hurts Nat, I don't remember it hurting this bad when I had Diana." Savannah sobbed as tears streamed down her cheeks. Nat quickly brushed them away and he stared at her with pain in his eyes. He felt horrible that he did this to her and there was nothing he could do to help.

"You're almost done, Mrs. Walker. Just one more big push." Her Doctor said and Savannah nodded as she clutched on to Nat's hand for dear life and pushed with everything she felt the pain fad and she took in a ragged breath as the sound of a baby's cry filled the room.

"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Walker! You have a son!" The Doctor exclaimed and Savannah smiled as she sobbed while she watched them clean off her son.

"We did it, our baby lived." Savannah croaked out as she looked at Nathan in complete bliss and he cried along with her as he grinned at her.

"I knew he was going to live, I knew everything was going to be okay." He choked out and Savannah giggled as she pulled him into a tight hug.
