When you tell your best friend that you were sick and they insist on visiting, you expect to be taken care of and to be consoled while you try your best to not cry over how fatigued your body was feeling; not to feel vertigo as they began jumping on your bed while you laid there, contemplating if you still had the energy to even deal with them.

"Gyuvin, you're going to make me throw up."

Everything went to a still. For a second, it meant that you weren't seeing things black out across your eyes, or at least that's how you felt because of the movement, but when Gyuvin began to jump again, you finally groaned and slammed a pillow against your face, trying to numb how your head was spinning from him, because if it didn't, that meant you really would've thrown up and you'd absolutely hate yourself if you did. Your bed covers were newly replaced and were white; two things you'd never want to stain, and if you ended up doing so because of Gyuvin's continuous burst of enthusiasm, you were going to block him on every social media site that he followed you on, or probably just max out all of his credit cards to buy better, fancier bedcovers as compensation for your soiled ones.

"Good," Gyuvin snickered, poking you on your side with his feet as he bounced. "I'm trying to help you make a good decision by getting checked by a doctor but no, you just had to say you didn't want to. Why? Because you didn't feel like it."

"And I didn't!"

"Well, too bad. It's either this or a doctor. Make the right decision."

"Can't I make my own decisions?"

"Absolutely not."

"Gyuvin, I swear, if you keep doing that I'm going to throw up on you." You began to sigh as Gyuvin stopped moving. You felt the space beside you disappear, accommodating Gyuvin's figure as he moved to lay beside you, a hand holding his face just above where yours was so he could look at you better.

"Do you want me to be your doctor then? My brother's a doctor, that makes me half an actual one."

"Yeah, right."

"Really!" Gyuvin laughed, reaching out to brush your hair away from your face, while you just closed your eyes to the feeling. "I could give you a diagnosis. Do you want a diagnosis?"

You opened your eyes again to think about it, but instead of trying to focus on the question he had given you, you ended up focusing on him instead. You've always known that your best friend was attractive.

Gyuvin always made your Valentine's days unbearable with the amount of girls that came up to you to ask you for advice on askimg him out. And Gyuvin's always made your life sort of miserable with the way you'd get questions if you were dating him or not. Those types of situations don't just happen to normal people, at least, that's what you believed in, but Gyuvin wasn't a normal person.

Bad jokes and loudness aside, Gyuvin was attractive. He had pretty eyes and a pretty face, with a pretty smile, too. You thought his smile was what completed his beauty. You never knew how much a smile could complete someone's face until you saw Gyuvin give you one of his. It was so bright. So pretty. Once, you'd even grabbed him by the face to look at it better, but all that ever did to you was become a victim of Gyuvin's teasing, who told you that you must have fallen for his good looks to do something as intimate as that, while you just rolled your eyes and fought back against it. As much as you hated to say it, he really was good-looking for someone who could never seem to shut up.

Just like that, as you stared at each other, You couldn't help but blame God for giving you the short end of the stick when it came to looks between the both of you. He was so pretty and it was so unfair.

"Go ahead."

"Really?"

"Yeah," You breathed out. "Let's see if you're a good enough half-doctor."

"Sweet! Get up then!"

Your body followed him as he sat up. He crossed his legs together and began beckoning you to come closer to him until your knees were touching each other. "You know, real doctors would ask you how you're feeling and check your temperature after but I'm not a real doctor. Besides, it's not like I don't know what you're feeling. You literally got me out of the house to complain about how sick you were."

"Just get it over with, Gyuvin."

Gyuvin brought a hand up to your temple. Was it always hot in there? You felt hot. Why was it getting hot? Gyuvin staring at you for the entire time as he did his little check-up was not helping you cool down, too. In fact, he just made it worse. You've already got a cold. You didn't want to get other symptoms from him.

"Ah, I figured it out."

"What is it?"

Gyuvin pretended to take off his imaginary pair of stethoscopes. Seeing him look so serious with it made the whole thing ridiculous for you but you still asked him about his diagnosis because you knew that, sooner or later, he'd still end up forcing you to play along with his act if you didn't so much as look interested over what he was going to say.

"You're Lovesick."

"What?" If you hadn't thrown up earlier from the dizziness he'd just given you, you might as well have done it now.

"You heard me: you're Lovesick." Gyuvin shook his head, pretending to be disappointed as you just stared at him with narrowed eyes. "Lovesickness is caused by parasites called love bugs. You can get them from everyone, and I mean everyone! They enter through your eyes and dig down deep inside your heart, eating your insides!"

"That's... disgusting..."

"It's normal, sweetheart." You had to pretend to be unbothered by his term of endearment. Gyuvin's always been fond of them, even making sure to use the weirdest ones he can come up with just so he could make you grimace, but now was not the time to be hearing them. You were going to go delusional. (I mean, you had been admiring his face earlier. How does that not count as delusional?) "Besides, lovesickness isn't fatal. It has a mortality rate of 97%, and is easy to spot, like turning red, having sweaty palms, an increased heart rate, and having a sudden urge to look at your best friend like you're wondering if you should kiss him or not."

Your face felt like it was on fire and the way he winked at her wasn't helping. "Where'd you even learn this from?" You groaned, trying to hide how red your face was beginning to look like. You hated him. You hated him so much. If there was ever an award for being the most obnoxious best friend that anyone could ever have, it would have been given to Gyuvin. But why were you turning red? You shouldn't be. At least, not like this. "Is this in the Clinic Of Horrors? 'Cause I swear, I will stop buying you coins for it."

"It's a good comparison and the first thing you say is that I took it from a Webtoon? Low blow, I tell you." Gyuvin sighed, crossing his arms. Although he didn't look as upset about it when the corners of his lips were rising up from the look of your reaction. "At least I know how to tell the difference between what's real and what's not." He playfully rolled his eyes. "Like: Clinic Of Horrors is fictional, while your lovesickness isn't. You could've made it a little less obvious. I mean, I know I look this good but I never thought you'd know about it, too."

"Gyuvin, I will hit you."

"See? Denial at its finest. You're lucky you're cute when you are." Gyuvin reached over and ruffled your hair up, making you look even more of a mess than you already were, what with your cold and all, but he didn't seem to mind that. He was staring at you with what looked like a sparkle in his eyes before he decided to hop out of the bed.

"Come on, let's get you checked."

"Whay? To cure me being Lovesick?"

"No." It was Gyuvin's turn to groan. Halfway through him talking, you had to be pulled up from your position on the bed just so you could satisfy Gyuvin's want for you to at least get a prescription for your common cold. "Obviously not. Haven't you been listening to me? It'll eat your insides. It won't kill you but it'll eat your insides. Good luck wanting to get rid of it after your body has adjusted to it. Yeah, no. That'll be like surgery for Hanahaki."

"Then what am I supposed to do about it?"

"You can be so stupid." Gyuvin slung an arm around your shoulders before giving you a small peck on your forehead. To say you hadn't expected that would be an understatement. Because you really, absolutely, didn't think he'd have the guts to kiss you. His friends have always told you that he was into kissing, platonic or not, but you'd never experienced it firsthand. The sensation was quick, but soft. You almost couldn't believe it had happened until you realized how sweaty your hands were beginning to feel as you were dragged outside of the house with him and into his car, or until you noticed that you looked as red as blood when you looked at your reflection through the side mirrors, or until you placed a hand against your chest and felt your heart jump at the contact.

Oh my God. This wasn't happening to you. This shouldn't be happening to you. All the time you've spent saying that you'd give yourself Hell if you ever felt like this to someone wasn't working anymore.

"You okay?" Gyuvin suddenly spoke up. You snapped out from your daze as you turned to look at him. His eyes were on the road as he drove, but occasionally, they'd find yours while he spoke. "You look paler than you were before."

You pinched your cheeks, trying to think of an answer for that, but the only words that kept repeating in your head were: Oh my God. Oh my God. "Yeah, I'm fine." You managed to say, surprising yourself with how calm you sounded. "It's the love bugs, you know. Eating my insides and all that. Haha." You weren't supposed to say that. You weren't supposed to encourage him and his awful analogies, too, but one look at that stupid smile on his stupid face was enough to make you sink into your seat and accept everything as it was, the love bugs turning your heart into mush as Gyuvin gave you a few more words to worry about.

"You don't have to be ashamed of being lovesick, you know," he muttered. "I am, too."

"Okay."

"You're not going to ask about it?"

"I'd rather not."

"Stop being so stupid."

"You're the one who's into that."

"Wow," Gyuvin groaned. "Stop wanting to be right or I'm going to ditch the date I was planning to have with you later."

"I'm sick!"

"It was going to be a movie date but, oh well, if you don't get better because you won't go to the doctor, I'm just going to have to cancel that and future dates."

"Shut up."

Gyuvin was annoying. The type of annoying that'd get on your nerves. The type of annoying that'd make you feel like you were a fuse waiting to blow. But unfortunately, Gyuvin was also annoying. The type of annoying that gave you these love bugs in the first place. The type of annoying that got you to go to the doctor when you didn't even feel like it. And most importantly, Donghyuck was the type of annoying that made you this lovesick.

"If you want to kiss me, you can."

"Shut up."

Lovesick.

Screw needing a degree. Gyuvin was pretty good at this than you'd thought he'd be.
