Ducks! feat. small chickens and rabbits
At long last... duckles! Ours are Muscovies, which are a really fun dual purpose breed. Interestingly enough, they aren't true ducks (if you cross them with regular ducks, you get a "mule" duck that can't reproduce), and don't quack! Instead, the females make cheeping noises and the drakes hiss.
They're also so pretty! They've been a ton of fun!
This guy (a bronze drake) has the COOLEST hair; it's hilarious.
If they're not sure they like you being so close to them, they wave their heads around and hiss.
A broody duck! See also: a face that strikes FEAR into you, I mean have you ever been stared at that intensely by a duck
It gets scarier the closer you get
(These guys might have rounded bills, but a broody duck can peck pretty hard! I have quite a few welts on my arms already. Fun fact: They can draw blood if you aren't quick about pulling your arm back. XD)
Also... guess whaaat?
They are so?? Sweet?? I didn't realize how soft ducklings were! (A different duck hatched a chicken egg, so since her duck eggs would still take two weeks more to hatch, I put the chick with this hen and her ducklings. They've done really well together! Two little ducks and their chicken sibling.)
Our latest batch of chicks!
Also... chicklets! Can you spot all the chickens?
Also, not poultry, but in case anyone was wondering how I'm entertaining myself in quarantine...
HE NEEDED A BOWL AND IT WAS ALL I HAD
Behold—some smols! (And larges! XD)
So that's how our little menagerie is going! What all have you guys been up to during quarantine?
