dinner.

"talk to me. are you and my baby sister dating?" he interrogated straight forwardly.

the cinematography major straightened his back and quickly said, "oh, no! we just became
friends recently."

"are you planning on asking her out?"

that question seemed to ponder in seonghwa's head. was he planning on asking her out?

"you are, huh?" jungkook huffed.

"dinner's ready!" their mother's voice echoed through the house.

jihae skipped to the living room, sensing a somewhat tense
atmosphere but what did she
expect? it's jungkook.

"come on, hwa." she invited.

seonghwa stood up slowly, careful
not to annoy the brother more.

all of them settled down in the
dining table where all sorts of
dishes were served.

the jeons' dinning table could fit eight people because mrs. jeon wanted to buy a bigger one just in case there were guest. jihae made sure to let seonghwa sit beside her, while her siblings in front of them, and her mother sat on the chair on
the end of the table.

"where's dad?" the youngest asked.

"he's been called to his office. he told us to have dinner early since he's going to be home pretty late."
soyeon explained to which the
girl just nodded tom

"dig in."

"thank you for the meal!" the
students said in unison.

the family and the guest were eating peacefully while taking what they want from what food there is.

"so, seonghwa. what do you major in?" asked mrs. jeon who seemed to be more interested in the boy than the food she prepared.

the junior swallowed the food he was chewing. "cinematography, ma'am."

"oh, there's no need to be so
formal!" their mother waved
her hand furiously.

"yeah! mom will do." the second eldest said, earning a glare from jungkook.

"you can call her mrs. jeon. i'm
sorry." jihae whispered with a tiny blush as she was embarrassed by what her sister said.

seonghwa chuckled but quickly hid it when the senior cleared his throat. "you're a junior, right?"

"yes." he nodded because he doesn't really know how to address jungkook.

he was the most popular guy in school, might as well be the most
good looking and scariest because of his skills. and now, seonghwa's
eating dinner with him.

"you're friends with hongjoong, right? i hope we can be friends as well! the more the merrier. right, ji?" soyeon butted in.

"i mean, we already are." the sophomore said just to tease her sister but the older girl already had a comeback in mind.

"just friends?" she smirked, causing the youngest to choke on the water she was drinking.

seonghwa was fast to react and grabbed a neat sheet of tissue on the the table. he wiped the corners of jihae's mouth while she was still coughing. he gave soft pats on the back. "slow down."

soyeon and mrs. jeon smiled at the boy's kindness. they were like highschool kids again, watching their best friend with the guy she likes.

"you okay?" the junior made sure after jihae calmed down.

"yeah, thank you."

things were a lot less awkward after the girl choked. she complained to soyeon, while the boys were laughing.

seonghwa also learned that the middle child might have a small interest in his best friend since she always asks questions about him, and that jungkook wasn't as intimidating as people assumed him to be. he wasn't a jerk. he's just some dude who goes soft for his sisters.

it surprised him how much the two girls bully their brother jokingly.

they once said that banana milk was not really that good, and seonghwa just had to say otherwise.

jungkook let out a, "thank you! at least someone here actually has taste!" while pointing to seonghwa.

all them had fun and enjoyed the food.

as mentioned, there were a lot
but the on dish that stood out
were the egg rolls.

they each took their share until there was only one left. jihae took her chopsticks to get the last piece however another pair of chopsticks stop her from doing so.

it was jungkook's. they had a stare down for a bit when one of them moved.

the chopsticks fought for a while until their mother warned them. "stop that or you won't have breakfast tomorrow."

jihae would normally not care but she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of the junior, so she slowly retracted her utensils which made jungkook yell in victory.

her bottom pushed upwards
watching her brother munch on
the last egg roll.

watching this, seonghwa couldn't help but give his piece to the girl. he slowly placed the egg roll on jihae's plate, slightly clearing his throat for her to notice but not the others.

the sophomore turned to the boy, seeing what he did.

"no, no. you eat it." her voice was a bit loud, making her family hear.

seonghwa was flustered for a bit due to the attention, but immediately told her, "let's just half it. you seemed so sad about that egg roll, i'll feel guilty if i eat this alone."

jihae's face lit up and instantly nodded.

"hey, you're making me the bad guy." jungkook pouted with his face still stuffed from what he ate.

they all laughed as they finished eating.

seonghwa volunteered to do the dishes since yunho was still not there, but mrs. jeon quickly denies the offer.

he insisted so politely that the woman couldn't refuse anymore. she told him that they'll do it together and he happily agreed.

"you're mother must be so lucky to have a son like you." mrs. jeon stated with made seonghwa giggle.

"i'm just like every other son, mrs. jeon." he said as he placed the plates in the cabinet.

"i'm sure the world would be better if that's the case." she joked. "we're not making your parents wait for you at home, right?"

seonghwa, now knew where jihae got her concerned side. "ah, no. i actually live alone."

mrs. jeon stopped washing for a bit, realizing how lonely it must be for the boy, missing his family back home.

"well, you're always welcome to join us for a meal." she smiled which seonghwa returned.

jihae dashed to the kitchen. "hwa! yunho's almost here. i'll wait with you outside." she informed.

"i'll be there."he turned to the woman. "thank you so much for today, mrs. jeon."

"anytime, dear."

-

the two went outside, waiting for
the girl's best friend.

"i'm so sorry if anything soyeon said made you uncomfortable." jihae started. "she can get a little excited at times."

"she didn't really say anything wrong." he smiled reassuringly.

"my mom didn't say anything that could ruin my reputation, right?" she jokingly asked. well, half jokingly.

"she did tell me about that one you punched yunho because he dressed up as thor and didn't follow the harry potter theme on your birthday."
he chortled.

"he took that upon himself." she sneered at the memory of her best friend getting all the attention on her eleventh birthday.

the junior gaped at the girl trying to defend herself. "could have, you know, let him change."

she snickered. "too late for that
now. how about my brother? i left you two for a while, didn't i? while i was helping my mom." she had curious eyes.

"you really care about your image, huh?" seonghwa teased.

if it's how you think of me, then of course. she wanted to say but held herself back.

"he just did what every brother would do. he asked if we were dating." he explained which made jihae sigh.

"typical. he did the same thing with wooyoung. we were in elementary." she rolled her eyes. "anything else?"

"he also asked if i was planning on asking you out." the junior said quite confidently which made the girl's heart beat pick up it's speed.

seonghwa noticed the flustered look on the girl's face, making him smirk.

jihae shook her head. "so what'd you say?" she questioned as she tries to stay calm.

just then, a honk from a familiar car could be heard. yunho arrived.

"hey, love birds! i'm here!" he greeted, earning a scowl from jihae.

"he just had to be here in the most perfect time." the girl mentally scolded the newly arrived guy.

"i guess i'll go now. bye, ji."
seonghwa waved.

"i'm assuming you're not answering my question, so i'm letting you go." she huffed. "text me when you get home."

"of course." the junior got in the car as the blue haired sophomore started it.

"see you tomorrow, ji!" yunho said and went off.

jihae went in her house after
sending them off.

she saw her mother, sister and brother on the couch, waiting to bombard her with questions.

"so not dating, yeah?" jungkook started.

the youngest shook her head.
"no. how many times do i have
to tell you?"

"jihae, you should totally go for him! he's so nice." soyeon encouraged.

"he's a kind young man. very responsible, too. there aren't many people willing to help do chores." her mother said, approving.

"did you see how he gave jihae his egg rolls because jungkook had to steal the last one? so romantic!" the middle child exclaimed, making the youngest blush.

the eldest son couldn't even find anything to protest with because there was none. all they said was true.

park seonghwa was kind, responsible and handsome. he's not a push over or a narcissistic bastard. he studies well, from what he learned, and was definitely hard working. he knows his limits and doesn't lie.

what else do you look for in a guy?

but still, like every brother, there's still a hint of worry no matter how perfect the boy seemed to be.

men are trash. even jungkook
admits it himself.

he just hopes that this trash will be good enough to recycle.
