date.
it was finally the end of the day.
bouncing on the balls of her feet, jihae was excitedly waiting for the boy she's been texting nonstop since they chatted again.
"ji!" she grinned widely hearing the familiar voice she hasn't heard in a week.
"hwa!" she sprinted rapidly and lunged her herself towards him. "i missed you."
seonghwa returned her embrace with a tighter one. "i missed you more."
the girl scoffed as she looked up to him. "don't compete with me."
"i'm stating facts." the junior shrugged which made jihae scrunch her nose with a pout.
seonghwa found this too cute to ignore so he lets out a soft giggle. "okay, fine. we just really missed each other." he concluded.
the sophomore pretended to think about it before saying, "fine."
just then, somebody cleared their throats, making them let go of each other.
"we're still here, you know." mingi said with a fake annoyed tone.
"yeah, jihae. you could have waited for us." yunho came jogging behind her along with wooyoung. "right, woo-"
"sannie!" the silver haired boy made his way to his boyfriend, making the taller sigh.
after the little banters of their friends, seonghwa faced jihae again. "should we go?"
"yeah, let's ditch 'em." jihae whispered with a nod.
"thanks a lot, jihae." yunho rolls his eyes.
"uh- is he okay?" san asked wooyoung who snickered loudly.
"he's sad because his crush wouldn't believe he likes her." the grey haired explained. "and us being lovey-dovey just makes him more miserable." he kissed san's cheek to tease the tall blonde.
"as much as i would love to hear your moping, yun, i have a date!" jihae beamed, clinging on seonghwa's arm.
"later, guys." seonghwa bid farewell to the boys as he and the girl walked towards his car.
"do you also wanna go on a date, sanshine?" wooyoung asked his partner.
"wanna come over to my place? my mom's been looking for you." san invited boldly, making wooyoung agree vigorously.
"bye, slendermen!" the silver haired boy waved while dragging his lover.
"are they really our friends?" yunho asked the redhead.
"i would say yes but that would mean i was lying." mingi answered jokingly. "wanna grab a macchiato?"
"sure, why not?"
-
as the car stopped, jihae couldn't even wait for the boy to open the door for her. she frantically stepped out of the vehicle and went over to the junior's side.
"aren't you excited?" seonghwa chuckled, making sure the car has been locked.
"wow. you could only tell now?" the girl deadpanned.
the older only smiled sheepishly as he bravely took her hand. when he noticed the flustered but happy look on jihae, he only said, "your hand looked lonely."
"i was lonely." she tched and looked away.
when the sophomore wasn't looking, seonghwa lets go of her hand. she wondered why since she loved the feeling and decided to turn her head back to where he was.
before she could however, she felt a pair of arms wrapping around her shoulders and a chin resting on top of her head.
"it would be unfair for the rest of you if i only held your hand, so let me hold you." the boy said softly.
after recovering from her flustered state, she smiled warmly as it turned to tiny giggles. "if you wanted cuddles, we could have just stayed in your apartment."
the junior finally separates their bodies as he faced the girl. "i'm a guy."
"so? i've been at wooyoung's and yunho's place." jihae stated, not making it a big deal.
seonghwa sighed. "i'm a guy who likes you." he rephrased.
"a respectful guy who likes me, and who i like back." she emphasized. "and i've already slept there before."
"still doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't be alone at a guy's house, missy." the ravenette booped her nose.
"i think it's a little to late for that." jihae joked. "i've been alone with wooyoung, yunho, and mingi before."
"they all have people they like." the boy only laughs slightly. "are you trying to make me jealous?"
the girl huffed. "it doesn't seem to be working."
"you're adorable." seonghwa ruffled her hair. "how 'bout we just enjoy this time since we are alone?"
the sophomore's grin made its way back on her face, intertwining their fingers once more. "that sounds good."
the pair talked and strolled on the pavement beside the grass. they told stories that they've been dying to tell one another, like MAYHEM's hiatus or that newly debut group called Sparkling.
seonghwa told her about his funny encounters with customers at the bar, as well as the irritating ones.
jihae told him about how she almost got kicked out of the volleyball club due to being distracted.
after minutes of sharing what they've missed on, they tried searching for the ice cream cart they saw before but to their dismay, it wasn't there.
looking around, jihae happened to see something that sparked her interest.
"hwa, look! a fountain!" she pointed at the architecture that was jetting water. "let's make a wish."
the boy lets himself get dragged by the sophomore the to said structure, giggling at the charm and innocence of this girl. "what do you wanna wish for?"
jihae shook her head. "i'm not telling you unless it comes true."
"well, i guess i'd better make a wish too, then." he takes out some coins out of his pocket.
the two closed their eyes and silently prayed to the fountain.
"how long do you think it'll take for your wish to come true?" jihae piped up as they opened their eyes.
"i can find out right now whether or not it'll be true." the senior stated, slightly letting out an airy chuckle.
"hm?" she wondered.
the timing was perfect for seonghwa. the sky was beautiful, colors like pink, blue and orange were mixing as it was already sunset.
"can i court you?" he asked with all his courage.
"no." jihae said with a puff, making seonghwa's eyes droop. "do you actually think i wanna wait more?"
it took a while for the junior to get what she meant. "oh."
"ask me the question." the girl almost demanded, but the boy got too intrigued.
"hm.. do you want to go eat?" he playfully asked, causing her to whine.
"seonghwa~"
after laughing heartily, the cinematography major looked at her seriously while taking both her hands in his. "will you be my girlfriend, jihae?"
the question made jihae break out the biggest smile she had on this day as she nodded vigorously. "of course, seonghwa!"
her smile reflected on seonghwa's face, expressing how happy he was with a dorky dance. he embraced her tightly, placing a kiss on her head.
"that was quick." he whispered.
"what was?"
"my wish came true." he cheesily grinned at her.
"mine, too!" she exclaimed happily. "i think this is what they call soulmate things."
"i thought yunho was your soulmate."
the girl hushed him. "seonghwa is soulmate." she childishly claimed while burying her head on his chest.
"whatever you say, ji."
-
the sky was already dark and their date had finally come to an end, but they still felt the jitters inside as if it was the first time they knew they like one another.
seonghwa had dropped her off in front of her home and the two were currently standing outside.
"so, see you tomorrow?" the junior voiced out softly.
"yeah."
even after sharing the slight goodbye, they still didn't move.
seonghwa suddenly began looking around as his shoulders raised. "goodnight kiss?"
jihae grinned for the nth time today and went on her tippy toes to give a peck on the boy's lips.
"goodnight, hwa." she said calmly despite her being flustered. "text me when you get home."
"i will. night, ji." seonghwa waved and waited for her to get in their house.
once she did, he instantly let out all his excitement and happiness by returning back to his car, all giddy.
"jeon jihae, you will be the death of me." he tried to do a serious look staring at his reflection, only to fail as he only beamed brighter. "not that i'm complaining."
