Mud
You groaned as you clenched your eyes shut, silently begging for the pain to quickly subside. You leaned against the wall of the medical room in the Lab. So much for coming in early and working on getting your power under control. You got your breathing under control as the pain dissipated and right before you heard someone walk in, more like rush in.
"Hey (Y/n). Whoa, you feeling alright?"
You scrunched your nose as you slowly looked up, your eyes barely open as you plastered on a smile that you knew looked very fake. "Oh yeah, I'm just fine." You wave your hand as if to brush it off.
Barry stepped forward, his hands instinctively reaching out as if to help you. "It's your powers again, isn't it?" His voice was quiet and tinted with worry.
You held your breath as you did the barest of nods, doing your best to hold back a sob. Your ability to change and morph into anyone is a pretty cool trick, until you learned that it hurt like hell fire and brimstone. Barry was there when you changed first, just by happenstance. He was helping with stopping a train station bombing. You got frightened and suddenly changed into him, suit and all. Quickly, he took you to the lab and told the crew who you are now close friends with.
You kept your morphing to a minimum, if at all. But you wanted to be able to help Barry with his missions, so in secret you have been trying to find ways to ease the pain. Unfortunately, it has been a fruitless endeavor. Now you have to convince Barry that your plan is a good idea.
You feel his hands grasp your arms and help you to a seat. You couldn't help but lean on him, your legs taking the longest to be rid of the burning hot pain. Barry takes a seat next to you and leans his elbows on his knees, looking at you worriedly.
"Are you sure you are alright?"
You couldn't help but smile at his soft, concerned voice. You took a deep then looked at him, smiling slightly. "Yeah, I'm alright. I just wish there was a way for it to not hurt so much," you whispered.
Barry looked you in the eyes then quickly raked them over your body, just wanting to make sure. A blush sprang to your cheek at his thorough observance. He then looked back into your eyes for a moment before he stood and reached is hands out for you to take.
You raised an eyebrow as you looked from his two outstretched hands to his face. He smiles, his eyebrows doing their arch thing. "Hey, I promise not to hurt you! I think I have an idea."
You playfully roll your eyes as you take his hands and slowly stood. "If you come up with a way for my morphing to not hurt, I'd kiss you silly."
You didn't register what you said until it was too late. Your face heated up as Barry let out a small chuckle, his own face pulling into a wide smile with his own cheeks dusted with pink. You look down at the ground, silently chastising your unfiltered brain. But you looked up as you felt Barry's give your hands a light squeeze as he gave you a cheeky smile.
"I look forward to it." He chuckled and winked.
Before you could say anything, you were swept up in his arms and rushed somewhere, probably where he did his running tests. He gently sets you on the ground and you do your best to calm your wind-swept hair. You look around the deserted field, noticing mud and puddles from the recent rain. You turned to Barry all confused.
"You do know that me running won't help, right? I'm not exactly in shape." You laughed a little as you patted your middle.
Barry chuckled and shook his head. "Oh whatever. Ok so my idea was to see if sudden and strong emotions are what make it easy to change." He stands behind you, causing you to turn to look at him. "Did you feel any pain the first time we met and you changed?"
You shook your head, remembering that day like it was yesterday. "No, I just remember you looking at me like I told you I was from the future. Then you whisked me away." You shrugged.
He nodded his head and stroked his bare chin. "So what if we replicated that situation. Close your eyes and image that night and the moment you felt the most emotion."
You nodded as you closed your eyes, playing the memory back in your head. Suddenly you felt like you were back there, every smell, sound and feeling frighteningly real. You felt a shiver as you replayed the moment you came face to face with Barry. A warm feeling starting in your gut spread up to your face and fingers.
Suddenly, the sound of someone letting out a shout of surprise caused you to jump and spring to action. You turned to where you heard the shout and raised your fists, ready to defend yourself. But what you saw was Barry with his eyes really wide, raising his hands up, his feet taking him back a couple of steps. You relax and reach out to stop him from stepping into a mud puddle, but you were too late. He let out another yell of surprise as he fell backward into a large and surprisingly deep mud puddle. You started to laugh, bringing your hand up to your face, but you froze as you looked at your hand.
It wasn't yours. It looked like The Flash's.
Forgetting your drenched friend, you stared down at your body, smiling wide as you noticed you were no longer you but your fast friend.
"Barry! Look! And I didn't even feel anything!"
Barry laughed deeply as he tried to get up but slipped. "Really? I hadn't noticed. Now help me up." He slipped again so you stepped forward to help him up.
"I can't believe it worked! How did you know it would?"
He took your hand, but instead of you pulling him up, he pulled hard and was soon joined by your giggling form, that looked like him. "Well," he laughed hard, flicking mud at your face, "I saw how fast you changed at the station and you didn't seem to have any issues there so I thought maybe there was something-" He got cut off by you splashing him.
"Oh look at you Sherlock Holmes!" You laughed as you both started splashing each other.
"It is really weird splashing myself." Barry said, grimacing.
"At least I know you aren't that conceded." You laughed but then sobered. "I hope this doesn't hurt."
Barry turned to face you completely, placing his hands on his, your, shoulders. "Just feel the emotions of you or something with a lot of emotion. Feel it. Don't think too hard."
You nodded and closed your eyes. After a moment of imagining feeling your body change back to normal you hear Barry laugh. "There you go! You did it! You feel any pain."
You opened your eyes and smiled, shaking your head.
Barry smiled wide and chuckled again as he wiggled his eyebrows. "So, uh, about that kiss..."
You rolled your eyes, shoving his shoulder, causing him to laugh harder as he fell back into the puddle. You stood and looked at yourself, marveling at the fact you changed and it didn't hurt. Now all you have to do is work on making the change quickly. The enemy isn't going to wait a few moments for you to change mid battle.
You turn to the muddy man and reach out. "Come on. Let's go to my place and clean up. We need to tell the others."
Barry stood and took you into his arms, making sure to smother you with his muddy body. "We don't need to tell them everything..."
Again, before you could say anything, you both were off. What a dork.

You stepped out of your bathroom, fully dressed and clean. Rubbing your hair with your towel, you tossed a clean one to Barry as he stood outside your other bathroom in a clean pair of pants but conveniently shirtless. He caught it and rubbed his own wet hair.
"Don't you have a shirt of mine from last time I was here?"
"You make it sound so scandalous." You snort with a small smile. "Yeah, let me check the guestroom."
You hurried and closed yourself in the room, taking the time to steady your beating heart. You have always found his attractive, but after helping you so sweetly with your morphing and then seeing him shirtless in your house alone...you had to make sure not to suddenly change into someone in fear of giving yourself away to your heightened emotions.
You hear a knock at the door and quickly turn, dropping your hair towel as you turned to see Barry enter slowly. "You get lost in there?"
You shrugged. "Found Narnia. Was offered to be queen and marry a handsome king but had to turn it down."
"Oh, really now? You have someone here?" He asked with a smirk as he leaned against he doorframe.
You nodded and walked up close to him, making sure not to touch his bare chest. "Yup."
Barry's brows rose with curiosity.
You look around you like you were sharing a deep secret. You then risked leaning in a bit more and whispered, "His is always there for me. Helps me feel better when I'm sad and knows what's best for me."
Now the smirk was gone from his face, his crossed arms seemed to tighten.
You giggled as you looked him in the eyes. "And quite honestly, no mystical king could ever replace my man, Mr. Netflix."
At first Barry was confused but then he burst into laughter, his eyes crinkling as he smiled wide. You laughed along with him. Forgetting about his shirtless state you leaned against him as you laughed. You looked up at him and just smiled, loving the glow of his happy face.
After a few seconds of silence, you grinned and whispered, "Thank you."
You were answered with a small smile, it not fully reaching his eys. He looked so happy to have helped, but you knew he was elated that you won't be in pain anymore, he hated that part almost more than you did. So, without thinking you lifted on your tip toes and leaned in to give him a kiss on the cheek but he reached up and just touched your chin lightly, moving your lips to land on his.
