It's Really Him

               Barry is at his wits end. He may be the fastest man alive but he is not the smoothest. He ran his hands through his hair a he walked around STAR labs, letting them come to a rest on the back of his neck, his head leaning back to look at the ceiling out of exasperation. How in the world is he going to tell you who he really is? You are working with the CCPD on a case involving a metahuman but one who could hurt, if not kill, Barry if he came within just miles of him...her...it. No one is quite sure what kind of metahuman they are or what they do, other than the fact that they have acute aim of some kind of electric prohibiting beam. Barry didn't mind being left behind on this investigation just for a while, that gave him time to rack up enough courage and think of the right way to break it to you.

              His train of thought was broken by the sound of a motorized wheelchair rolling in. Barry turned and rushed over to his speed mentor. "Please, please, PLEASE help me Dr. Wells. This was your idea anyways. I didn't think it would be this hard." With great urgency he placed his hands in a prayer like form in front of his face, practically begging with his eyes.

              Dr. Wells slightly shook his head and chuckled. "Barry, calm down. Now explain to me clearly, what is it you want me to help you with?" He wheels himself over to the out cropping of wall that held Barry's Flash suit. Reaching his hand up, he touches the light weight fabric  then let his hand fall to his arm rest. "Let me guess. This has something to do with your "secret identity". You know Barry, it's not going to be much of a secret if you keep telling people when they show just a bit of interest in you." Dr. Wells turns around with a slight glint of humor in his eyes as he smirks.

             Barry can't help but cringe at his friend's accurate observation. His arm went up and rested behind his neck. "Yeah well this one is different." Dr. Wells chuckled but motioned for Barry to continue. He let out a breath, checking left and right as if you were there. "Her name is (y/n) and she has every right to know. Considering everything she has been through. She lost a parent like I did, we could connect through this. I don't want to have any walls between us. She has just confided so much in me over the past few days that I-"

             "Barry, Barry, calm down." Dr. Wells is closer now and has a hand raised to get the young speedster's attention. "We don't want you causing a time rift or anything. I happen to know (y/n)'s story so no need to keep babbling on. Just go tell her." He slowly turned around to head out of the doorway, mumbling under his breath. "It's not like you asked me for permission to tell all those others. I don't know why she is so different."

            Barry watched as Dr. Wells left and let out a low huff. He turned back around to face his suit. Being the Flash was awesome and he loved saving people and putting away baddies; he just hates having to keep it from you. You are so sweet, gentle and understanding. You first came to town looking for a simple job, but as soon as Iris saw you she instantly took you under her wing. She introduced you to everyone and now, you all hang out as if you had been there for years. Unbeknownst to Barry, you had started getting feeling for him, but you didn't want that to impede the friendship you had tried oh so hard to create with him. Now Barry sees you as someone he can wholly and completely trust.  You surly wouldn't mind finding out, right? But how to tell you, that is the real question.

~~~~~~~~
            As Barry was trying to figure out his problem of telling you who he really is, you and the CCPD have been working hard to contain the Metahuman. You were the one to tell Joe to let The Flash know that coming would hinder more than help. You may be a cop but you graduated a science major, so as soon as you saw the thick electrode barrier the enemy was creating, you knew The Flash would be no help. You have been working with the CCPD for a while now and find it amazing that you are working with the real Flash. But you aren't going to lie, you desperately wish you knew who he was. Not that you have a crush on him, cough cough, you were just curious. Besides, you have been trying to get Barry's attention, the cute little forensic scientist who always came after a  shoot out or a stand off with a Metahuman. Alas, he only sees you as a friend. Or so you thought.
         "(Y/n)!!! Get down!" You heard Joe's voice calling you before you saw him. But that didn't matter because two seconds later you couldn't hear or see anything. With ringing ears, You felt your body hit the ground, quickly berating yourself for letting your mind run when you should have been focusing.  Blinking you tried to get up but you were having issues moving  your left arm and left leg. Regaining some vision you looked over. Half of your body is pinned under a flipped car. How the car got there you could only guess but right now, you were in immense pain. Still blinking out the white light and willing your ears to clear of the ringing you tried to wiggle your way out. But to no avail , you cried out in pain, letting your body go limp. You closed your eyes and took as deep a breath as you could, seeing if you could feel if anything was broken.
        Your self-evaluation was interrupted by the distant crunch of feet hitting the debris covered ground. You moaned softly, trying you best to lift some part of your body for them to see you were still alive. But you have no idea if anything actually moved. Opening one eye, you can see a form coming closer but not one you recognize. You feel a hand on your shoulder and a familiar voice telling you that everything will be alright. You grunt again, hoping they heard that as a "Yeah so they all say" kind of reply but suddenly you didn't care because you start to get feeling back in your arm and leg. Too weak to rise you feel two pairs of hands grip you by your good arm and your body as you are haphazardly carried off. You didn't get to see who helped you or where you were being taken because your body started to go limp and your eye sight went dark.
~~~~~~

          Barry had finally come up with the best way to break it to you. He will tell you when you all get back, pulling you aside and ask to see you later, alone. Best not reveal who he is in front of more people than he planned. But that plan was nixed as soon as he got a call from Joe. All he heard was the labored breathing of your name in panic and he was off.

        Running as fast a he could, duh, he made it to the scene in enough time to see Joe put his phone away. Thankfully the Metahuman was gone, or hopefully taken care of and detained. Joe came to Barry's side. and silently pointed to where he could see an over turned car.Rushing over he found you pinned. He had to physically clamp his hand over his mouth so he didn't call out your name.

        "What happened Joe? I thought you said she was experienced enough to take care of herself, and you were keeping an eye on her." Barry had to take a deep breath as he looked at your pinned body. Not knowing the best way to go about this he waited for his cop friend to make his way over.

       "I don't know son, she was doing fine one moment then was thrown across the street the next. I prosmise you, I made sure she was in the least dangerous place." Joe's breaths came out in gasps as he assessed the situation. Nodding to Barry, both men silently got to work to safely remove you from your metal prison.

          Joe called your name, hoping you would respond. Barry heard a moan and about started laughing, so happy to hear you alive but also could imagine what you meant by your halfhearted moan. Carefully Barry placed his hands on your body as Joe did his best to pull your arm and leg out. No luck. Barry then decided to quickly dig around you and pull you out from underneath. Once he got finished doing that Joe grabbed her good arm and Barry wrapped his arms around your body, successfully pulling you out and transferring you to a gurney that was placed a way off my an ambulance.

       Barry watched as you were bandaged up and placed in the emergency vehicle. Turning to Joe he silently asked to follow, he gave a slight nod but pointed to his head, pointing out that Barry will have his suit on.

       "Yeah, I know. I was planning on telling her anyways." And with that he raced off after the vehicle carrying his best friend.

~~~~~~
          You had to have surgery. Nothing major but enough that you had to be sedated. Your arm was the least injured, major bruising but only minor scratching. It was your leg that worried Barry the most. He overheard the doctor say you will be to be on crutches for a while. Barry stayed out of sight, considering he didn't bring any clothes to change into, not wanting to take the chance of missing you coming out of the OR, no matter how fast he is. Is ear perk up from his hiding spot in an empty room, hearing the OR doors open and your name be called followed by a number. After waiting a few moments Barry dashed to your room to see you asleep with a cast on both left arm and leg. He checked behind him, shutting the door, closing all the blinds, as he slowly made his way over to your good side. You look so peaceful, so serine, as you lay there devoid of all pain. Barry took his mask of and rubbed his face. Sitting down on a seat, he scooted closer to you and rested a hand on your cast-free arm.
        "Man (y/n), you sure know how to drive a guy crazy." He let out a low breath of hair and sat back  in the chair, ruffling his hair a bit. Debating on if he should put his mask back on he heard a sound of the door opening. He slipped it back on and hid behind the opening door as some nurses came in and took notes as well as leave and extra blanket. After they left, Barry sat himself back down beside you, fixing the blanket to fit more snugly around you. You softly moaned and slowly shifted a bit. Barry froze but smiled. Tucking a hair behind your ear he leaned forward and placed a chased kiss on your forehead. He leaned back in his chair, finally feeling the full effects of what happened. He leaned his head back and let out a small groan. He should have been there to make sure you were safe. Closing his eyes was a mistake, because he soon found himself sound asleep.
~~~~~~

        A high pitched beeping can be heard through the blackness that you were trying desperately to find your way out of. Something heavy can be felt on  your left arm and leg. You internally moan, they must be broken. Slowly you peak your eyes open to find everything around you to be blurry. You blink a few times but freeze. You hear something off to the side. Gingerly you turn to your right and find a sleeping body. But not any sleeping body, The Flash's sleeping body. What in the world? You have fully woken up by now and try to get a good look at his face, but unfortunately his head is bent in such a way that you cant see anything clearly but the tip of his nose. Dang it.

       Trying to be as incognito as you could with only half of your body at your disposal, you leaned forward more and reached your hand out. If only you could angle his head to the side just a bit you could get a good-BEEP BEEP BEEP!

      The Flash jumped up and made his way to the darkest part of the room. You lean back onto your bed and look at where the beeping was coming from. You look down and the monitor for your heart rate had fallen off of your finger. So much for incognito. You look up and try your best to make out his face. But he is ding the thing where his face gets all distorted and his voice all echoie.

       Folding your arms you lift your chin up, looking at him down your nose, smirking slightly. "So, does The Flash meet all the victims he saves? Let alone sleep in their hospital rooms?" You watched him carefully, taking in every nuance, hoping he unknowingly gives himself away.

      "No, not really. Joe wanted me to make sure you were alright. You took quite a beating." His voice vibrated along with his shadowed face. He took a step closer, probably to ask how you were doing, but decided against it. "Seeing as how you are awake you can tell him yourself." He turned to go but you called out for him to wait.

      Turning around he looked at you, well you assumed he was, you couldn't really tell. You let out a huff and swallowed. Might as well ask him now while he is here right?

       "Flash, why are you here? I am no one special. I am just another CCPD officer who made a rookie mistake, throwing myself in here." The speedster and somewhat friend turned fully to you. You can hear him sigh and look away slightly.

      "Look, Miss (L/n) I wish I could tell you but not...not now." Your eyes widen.

       "So you are saying you WILL tell me?" You raise an eyebrow and smile slightly. "Well, I guess I can live with that. Just don't- AH!!!" You suddenly cringe and tears start to fall down your face. Flash was suddenly at your side, placing a hand on your back, worry drenching his no longer vibrating voice.

       "(Y/n)! What is it? Is it your arm? Your leg?" Barry didn't care any more about his voice. His first priority is you. You are unable to answer him due to the pain in your leg. You reach your good arm out and point to your bandaged leg. "I will get someone to help you. Hold on (y/n), hold on." You could have SWORN you have heard that voice before, but at this point you didn't trust anything you heard or saw, pain clouded it all.

~~~~~
      Barry is now in street clothes, not wanting to risk being seen. He made sure you were taken care of before he left. He came back with Joe and Iris so he didn't seem so eager to see you, though he most definitely was. All three of them entered your room to laughing and the shushing of a nurse.
      "Please miss, I know we gave you a bit too much medicine but we need you to be quiet for the other quests." Barry watched as an exasperated nurse wrote something down on a clipboard and marched out of the room, leaving the four of them alone.
     Iris and Joe tried to have a conversation with you but you had trouble focusing. You kept glancing over at your quiet forensic friend in the corner, almost like you knew something. Joe followed your gaze and smiled. Turning to Iris, he whispered something to her and they both quietly left the room. But before Joe closed the door he gave Barry a wink and an encouraging thumbs up. Barry half smiled and ran a hand through his hair.
      As Barry made his way over to you, your eyes ever left his. To be honest it kind of freaked him out, considering that you were laughing hysterically before they entered. Sitting down, he scooted the chair forward a bit. Deja Vu. Smiling he placed a hand on your arm. You looked at the placed your skin made contact then looked back up at his sea green eyes.
     "Hey (y/n). How are you holding up?"
      "Barry I need you to be honest with me. Are you keeping something from me?" You had to know. It hit you as soon as he walked in and stood in the back of the room, right where The Flash stood. You glanced at a bag you hadn't noticed earlier. You looked back up at him, expecting an answer.
       "I...I-no, no I have not been completely honest with you. I just don't know the right way to go about it." He hung his head a bit but his hand on your arm seemed to have given you a gentle squeeze. His thumb moved back and forth almost giving you goosebumps.
       "Just tell me. I swear I won't judge you. You have seen me in my most vulnerable state. I do hope you won't hold that against me." You blush because you suddenly remember how gross you must look.
       Barry saw you blush then did something he never thought he would. He looked at the door then back at you. You watched as he snuck something out of his bag and stuffed it in one of his pockets. He came closer to you and almost started laughing. You looked at him, puzzled at his odd behavior.
      "What?" You subconsciously lifted your right hand to fix your hair but Barry really did laugh.
       "No, I'm not laughing at you. I am laughing at what I am about to do." Then, without warning he gently scooted you over as much as the surprisingly big bed allowed. Barry then proceeded to lay himself down next to you. You were speechless. What was he thinking?
       You opened your mouth to say something but your close friend softly took your head and laid it on his chest as he got both of you comfortable under the blankets. "Yeah, I know, don't ask me why I am doing this. I don't trust my words right now. Just rest." You blinked.
       "You better tell me later what the heck is going on. Too bad you are pretty comfortable." You yawned, not truly realizing how tired you were. You closed your eyes then remembered no more.
~~~~~~

      As you soundly slept, Barry took out his Flash mask from his pocket and stared at it. Well now is a good a time as any. Taking a deep breath he let the words fall from his lips.

      "I have wanted to tell you the day I met you. Not everyone knows but a good portion of the people I care about do. And you are someone I care about, deeply. But I don't want you to freak out or...or not want to talk to me ever again for keeping something like this from you. When I got the call from Joe that you were hurt I about wanted to scream. But now you can't run away from me, literally. So, here goes nothing." Barry took a deep breath and leaned his head back, closing his eyes. One hand held the mask and the other stroked your hair. "I am the Flash."

      You moaned in your sleep and shifted your weight a bit. Barry opened his eyes and looked down, hoping yet dreading to know if you were awake or not. Your eyes opened a bit and your casted hand came to rest on his stomach. You closed your eyes again and nestled your face into his chest. Under your breath and barely audible to Barry, you mumbled, "And, Mr. Flash I wish you were Barry Allen. But there is no such thing as a perfect world."

      Barry smiled. He smiled to wide and for so long he could have sworn it was stuck on his face. He looked down at your head and placed a kiss on your hair. "Well maybe there is."

This is dedicated to Whovian3135!  She hit her year mark on Wattpad yesterday. If you have not heard of her or read any of her stuff you are sourly missing out on some stellar writing!

Feel free to request! I do NOT do smut.

As you can tell these are quite lengthy, I kinda get carried away. So updates will be slow. Plus I am at my first year of College so bare with me.

Thanks for all the reads and votes my lovelies!
