"we're leaving." was the first thing san heard from his mother. it was 12pmand he was casually playing with his toys. he looked around and saw his mom pack bags full of his clothes, moving past the toys.
"are we going on vacation!" he asked excitedly seeing the suitcase they normally used when going somewhere. she looked at him sadly. "no we're going to go grandmas house for a while." she said. he's never met his grandmother, his dad would always say one day they would go to a different country together to meet her.
san walked out into the living room seeing his dad sitting on the couch, head in hands as tears stained his cheeks. "why are you crying? aren't you excited to see grandma!" he said eyes lighting up. his father looked up and smiled, grabbing the boy placing him on his lap.
"i won't be joining, but i hope you have a safe flight there." he said. "please always remember to never feel pressured when trying to achieve something, take your time." he finished, holding san close. the boy looked at his father with wide eyes. he didn't understand. what more did he have to achieve? what pressure was he facing? take his time with what exactly? his father had set him down hearing his soon to be ex wife walking down the halls with their suitcases.
"san go to your room and change, i'll be there in a second to help brush your teeth." his mother smiled. san nodded and headed towards his room to change.
"can i help him, just this once... it'll be the last time i see him." his father pleaded. she nodded her head and headed to the kitchen to grab sans juice boxes and snacks, placing them in a small bag.
"mommy i finished!" he yelled heading to the bathroom to sit on the counter. soon his father came in instead. "i'll be helping you today i hope that's fine." he said softly preparing sans toothbrush.
san looked so excited his father had to hold in his tears and make the most of the last moments. "you know san, you're such an amazing son... you probably don't understand this now, but you're the greatest part of my life... i wish you the best and if you remember this location and my words years from now i'll always open the door for you. i love you!" he said motioning for san to spit. san stood up from off the counter and smiled wide, his teeth now glowing in brightness. "thank you! i love you too!" he said hugging his dads leg tightly.
"san lets go!" his mother yelled. "i'll see you soon!" his father said waving at san. the small boy waved back excitedly jumping inside the car on his way to the airport.
"i understand now."
