Twenty-one

"I'm so sorry, honey. I hope you understand," Mrs Smith exhaled as she stroked her daughter's hair.

Sydney cuddled close to her mother and sobbed a bit.

"Yeah, I get it. It's just," she breaks down into a crying mess and snuggles closer to her mother. "It hurts. I miss him."

A hand was then placed on her back. She could feel the heat radiating off it before it started to move side to side in a comforting manner.

"And you'll see him again. Just maybe after all of this is sorted out," her father uttered. "We can't have you going to hospital because of his fans."

Sydney understood everything they said and knew they were right. Everything was a mess right now and  the best option she had would be to distance herself from him. Her parents cared, maybe even too much, so she had no other option than to listen to what they said.

It had to be a bit past nine at night when there was a knock on the door. Worried that it was another crowd of fans, her parents decided to check who it was.

Tori stood before them with a bright smile tattooed to her face. Her black hair was tied into a high bun and she wore a random tee and sweatpants.

"Hello," she chirped. "I'm Tori Hemmings, the manager of the café your daughter works at."

Sydney's parents glanced at each other then back at her.

"And how can we confirm that? How do we know you don't want to whack our daughter with a baseball bat?" Her mother asked.

Tori's eyes widened and her smile faultered.

"I'd never! If you don't believe me, I give you permission to search it up online right now. Or confirm in any way you please."

And so they did. They searched her up right before her and checked a whole bunch of websites to be a hundred percent sure of it.

"So why are you here?" Mr Smith finally allowed her in.

"Although, we just met and after what happened today, you have every reason not to trust me, I just wanted to take Sydney out of the house and talk a bit."

"Out of the house? So the porch?"

"Uh, not exactly."

"Then where?"

"To a nearby beach."

"No. No way. You aren't taking her anywhere-"

"Tori?" Sydney blinked her eyes at her. "Why are you here? Is it because I wasn't in work today? Chris said that-"

"No, it's not. Calm down, pet. I just wanted to talk to you about what happened last night." She glanced at Mr Smith. "Whether it be in the porch or not."

"The porch will do," Mrs Smith uttered as she walked to the kitchen. Not to make herself anything but simply because there was a window that have the perfect view of the porch in there.

Sydney sighed at her parents before walking out with Tori.

"Sorry about my parents... They just very, very worried about my wellbeing."

"You're apologising? I would kill to have parents that caring! My dad only focused on the café and my mum, well only the heavens know where she ran off to," Tori chuckled.

"So what did you want to talk about?"

"How you completely ignored my advice."

Sydney sighed.

"Thought so..."

"Was it the overthinking?"

"Huh?"

"Did you end it off because rod overthinking?"

"Honestly, I never had any intention of ending it off. I was just so into the moment that it slipped out. I honestly thought I didn't love him until he kissed me. Man, that kiss really messed me up."

"Ok, I didn't need the detail. I mean it's cute that you two love each other and all but consider my single butt over here."

"Sorry," she chuckled.

Tori took a minute to scan all the cuts, scratches and bruises on the younger girl's face and felt her heart break a bit.

"Let me guess, you're parents don't want you anywhere near Felix anymore."

"Wow, you're good."

"It's a shame. He loves you so much. Those stupid fans just had to ruin things for everyone. If it helps, I heard that the other boys are going to do something to rebuke their fans."

Sydney smiled a bit.

"Not sure that would be enough to buy my parents favour again."

"Yeah, I thought that too after meeting them. Felix would have to figure something out then. Has he even paid you a visit?"

"He did but my mother wouldn't let him anywhere near me. She literally shut the door in his face."

"Man, you're parents don't play around, do they?"

"Not really, no."

A long silence engulfed them before Tori turned to face her car.

"I should get going now but I'll update you on things happening in the café. That's including the new season of 'Will Liam And Ava Ever Start Dating'. Today's episode ended with a cliffhanger after Liam caught Ava hugging Chris and got angry."

"Sounds interesting but what do you mean by update?"

"Oh I forgot to tell you. Felix and you are on break until you sort things out whether that means you start being all lovey-dovey again or just leave it at being friends."

With a wink, Tori stepped into her car.

"Considering my parents, we might be on break for the rest of the year," Sydney joked.

"Oh trust me, Felix would have thought something up by the time the year ends. He always has his ways."
