Twelve

By three in the afternoon, things in the café went from a mess to utter chaos. Tori even had to call Kim out to help, but that was after they went over all the things she can do without breaking anything. They decided on the cash register.

Spoiler: she breaks the cash register.

In the end, Chan called Woojin and within an hour, all of the boys (Stray Kids) were working in the café. It became busier but at least they had the extra help.

"So, have any plans for tonight?" Felix asked Sydney as she taught him how to use the coffee machine.

"Nope, why?"

"Jisung bought two tickets to go to a cinema tonight and gave one to me then bailed out this morning and gave me the other. Do you want to go watch a movie?"

Sydney made a mug is coffee and passed it to Changbin, who delivered it to the rightful customer.

"Why not? It'll help me de-stress from this, " she motioned at what was happening around them.

Ava, Liam and Callum were outside, trying to calm the crowd down. Minho, Seungmin, Kimberly and Jeongin were at the cash registers and took orders while Jisung, Changbin, Chris and Noah gave the customers their drinks. The rest were at the coffee machines. Tori had to go out to buy some more and every now and then, the group outside would go to the kitchen to bake more desserts.

"Yeah, this is a mess. Is it always like this?" Felix asked.

"If it was, you'd be down here every day. I guess every school is out now."

"Does that mean we practically work here now?"

"Probably."

"So we get paid?"

"Ask Tori about that. And by the looks of it, we're going to be paid well this month, " Sydney laughed as she glanced at the broken cash register on the ground that was still packed with bank notes.

"If we aren't paid, I'm going on strike," he pouted as he handed Chris a mug of coffee he had made on his own.

Sydney chuckled before doing the same only to notice a bunch of people taking pictures of Felix and her together.

"Uhm, Fe," she turned back to him. "People are watching us."

"So?"

"What if they suspect things?"

"We are going on a date Wednesday night and you're worried people will suspect we're dating?"

She sighed.

"You're right. It was dumb for me to stress over this."

"If you still aren't ready for such a big spotlight on you, we can reschedule the date."

"No, don't... I just... Need to get used to this."

He turned around and shot a few fans a smile.

"Don't worry too much about them. I love you!"

"Do they?"

He forced her to turn around too then pulled her close to him. The screams coming from outside intensified.

"Ready to make them go crazy?" He asked but before she could answer he had already planted a kiss on her check. As he said, they went crazy. They screamed even louder and took more pictures, people pushed to get into the café or to a window.

They both eventually turned back to the coffee machines. Felix with a satisfied smirk on his face and Sydney in utter shock.

"I told a bunch of girls that we weren't dating this morning. Now they'll think I was lying, " the girl commented.

"Tell them you were protecting my image. Simple."

She heaved a sigh.

"How did I ever get myself into this situation?"

"You forgot to look left and right before crossing the road."

"It was a rhetorical question."

"I know. Remembering it just makes me realise God works in mysterious ways."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I never thought if end up dating someone I saved from likely death."

Sydney rolled her eyes but a smile was still evident on her face.

"Whatever. Let's just hurry up with these coffees. The café's going to close up soon."
