Ten
Sydney had expected the dinner table to be awfully quiet as the boys interrogated her, wondering who the girl Felix and Chris always talked about was and why she was always their main topic when it came to conversations together. But luckily for her, it wasn't much like that.
Obviously the boys were curious but they tried by all means to make sure she wasn't awkward and didn't feel uncomfortable.
They simply talked to each other about what had been going on in their lives recently and some didn't hesitate to through in savage comments here and there.
The atmosphere between them was something Sydney recognised from working at the café. An unexplainable feeling you get only around true family. And she liked that about it.
"So, Sydney, I hear you work with Chris. Does he nag at you as much as he does with us?" Jisung asked, earning a glare from the said boy.
"Excuse me, but I have reasons for nagging at you. You are a mess, Han Jisung, a mess! Someone needs to tell you when to clean up," Chris pointed out.
"Well, you aren't the tidiest person out there either, kangaroo," Sydney chuckled. "Forgetting I work with you in the kitchen?"
"In my defense, Kim usually offers to clean everything up. And aren't that tidy either, hypocrite."
"I'm tidier than you!"
"That's the biggest lie that's ever come out of your mouth!"
"It's true, though."
"No way."
"Stop!" Woojin yelled before pinching his nose bridge. "See what you caused, Jisung?"
"I actually really enjoyed that," the boy commented with a smile. "We need someone to expose Chan every now and then so congrats, Sydney. You just joined the family."
"Family?" She furrowed her eyebrows.
"The SK family."
"Wait, hold on. Shouldn't I have a say in this?" Chan mentioned.
"All in favour of Sydney joining the family say 'I'," Jisung said.
"I," the other seven boys shouted in unison.
"Sorry, mate, majority rules," the boy shrugged.
"But what about Felix?" Chan commented. "If Sydney's in the family, he can't marry her."
"Good point," Jisung turned to the girl. "I'm sorry, it's for the best."
"Wait, what?" She asked. "Marry? What the heck? What just happened?"
"You've been kicked out of the family. Well done, you broke Jisung's record," Minho shrugged.
"Aw, I'm going to miss having a sister," Jeongin pouted.
"Just wait until Felix marries her. Then you'll have a sister," Hyunjin grinned.
"Uh, excuse me guys, we're still here," Felix pointed out, growing embarrassed.
"Good. Now ask her out," Minho commanded.
"Guys, let them be," Woojin tried reasoning but no one was listening.
"Just think of it ' Lee Sydney'. It just rolls of the tongue... Plus it rhymes," Jisung uttered.
"I'm sorry about them," Felix sighed as he whispered to Sydney. "They are all a bit crazy."
"It's fine... Just needs a bit of time to get used to it, I guess."
"Want to go somewhere quiet so we don't have to listen to all this?"
"Would be nice."
And with that, they both stood up, excused themselves and left, making all the boys smirk.

Sydney stared down at the view of the city from Felix's room. The window was large and there was a door that led to the balcony near it.
"Why don't you go outside? The view's better from the balcony," he pointed out, after watching her for a while.
"I'm not necessarily a fan of balconies. I mean, what if they fall? Or if I fall? They're just not that safe."
Felix chuckled at her reasoning before grabbing her hand and dragging her to the door.
"It'll be fine."
"Felix, I really can't."
"Of course, you can."
"Felix-"
And before she knew it, he picked her up and carried her out to the balcony. He was right. The view was much better there. You could see skyscrapers next to smaller buildings, people walking up and down the streets, cars passing by and behind it all was the sea, adding to the already beautiful view.
He placed her down at the railing and held her hand for comfort.
"You see, it's not that bad."
"Felix, what if your fans see us? They'd hate me for sure."
He simply shrugged before gazing off at the horizon.
"If anyone hates you, they can't be my fan. Any fan would only want to see their favourites happy."
Sydney froze. Did he just say she makes him happy?
"Anyway, what do you think of the boys?"
"You were right, they are nice. Though I get the impression, the more comfortable they get around you, the more savage they are."
"Yeah, that's accurate. Don't worry, though, I'll make sure you come here often so they get comfortable around you."
"Gee, thanks. I really appreciate it."
He only chuckled as he glanced at her briefly.
"And maybe soon enough you'll be accepted in the family... Again."
Sydney cocked an eyebrow as she smirked.
"Are you trying to imply something?"
"Well, I was hoping you would get the idea and not ask but clearly we both had different ideas."
"Just ask, already."
"Fine, will you go out with me?"
Sydney grinned widely before leaning closer to him.
"Of course I will."
