Nine
And Felix kept his promise.
Later on that week Sydney got a text from him asking if she was free that day. Fortunately for him, it was a Friday and her shift on Fridays only lasted until noon. So with that, he made a plan that that day she would meet the rest.
"Don't worry. They'll like you," he told her via the phone.
"Are you just saying that or do you mean it?"
"I mean it. Honestly. They may tease you a lot but they tease anyone they are comfortable with."
"What if they aren't comfortable with me?"
"They will be. Don't worry yourself too much. Anyway, got to go. I'll pick you up in an hour, okay?"
"Okay."
"Great. Bye, Sydney."
"Bye, Felix."
Then he hung up.
Sydney placed her phone on the coffee table then took a good look at herself.
Gosh, how she wished all of them were as nice as Felix and Chris had made them sound but she had watched snippets of them together on Blue Moon and they all seemed really savage. And that worried her.
She did try to hard when it came to her outfit. Sydney was never one to be wearing what was in or what people claimed would look good on her. Instead she wore a simple oversized hoodie, skinny jeans and a pair of converse. She also couldn't be bothered to do her hair so a high ponytail was what she went for along with light makeup.
As promised, Felix picked her up an hour later wearing a simple t-shirt and sweatpants.
"So how was work today? Still hiding in the kitchen?" He chuckled a bit.
"I happen to really enjoy working in the kitchen, thank you very much," she said sarcastically. "The number of fangirls that wait in the café has decreased so it's not that bad anymore but they wait for me to leave work then follow me around and ask me about you. But I'm used to it now."
"So you don't mind it anymore?"
"Not really, no."
"That's good," he smiled to himself as he shoved his hands into his pockets. The rest of the trip was silent. But it was a comfortable silence and both of them didn't really kind it very much.
"I'm back," Felix shouted as soon as he opened the door. Sydney wasn't even surprised when she found out they lived in a penthouse. She had heard before that famous people on Blue Moon earned a lot of money and well, the top nine lived together so obviously they'd be loaded.
No responded to Felix but the boy didn't seem annoyed or surprised. She could tell it happened often.
Clothes and wrappers were thrown all over the place while dirty dishes were on every surface that could serve as a table.
Felix rubbed his nape.
"Jeongin and Jisung are having a movie marathon..." He explained before the they entered the living room where they saw the two boys. "I told them to clean up this morning but seems like neither even bothered."
"I see," Sydney chuckled a bit.
The whole house was a mess. But not only because it was messy. Shouting could be heard from upstairs and teh sound of someone singing came from both left and right. One coming from the kitchen while the other coming from someone's room. Not to mention the fact Jisung and Jeongin were screaming at the TV screen as if their favourite characters would hear them and take their advice.
"Sadly, it's always this loud. You kinda get used to it. Feels strange when there's no sound," the boy beside Sydney explained. "Chris is probably cooking something in the kitchen, want to go there?"
Sydney shrugged.
"Why not?"
And so they headed to the kitchen. The girl froze upon realising Chris had been singing and well, it actually sounded good. Really good. He didn't sing much at the café, or show any interest in anything musical for the matter. So staring at the boy from behind as he sang his heart out in a sweet melody made her jaw drop.
"Need help?" Felix asked as he sat on the counter next to Chris.
"Nah, I'm almost done anyway. How about you lay the table? Then gather the boys maybe. Oh, and where's Sydney? Weren't you supposed to pick her up?"
"Look behind you," Felix simply said as Chris pushed him off the counter.
"Oh hi, Melbourne. You good? You look a bit...pale, you know?"
"You can sing?" She uttered, surprising the older male a bit.
"Uh, yeah. Why?"
"You never sing at work," Sydney pointed out. "If I had a voice like that I'd never stop singing!"
"Oh come on, stop overreacting. My voice is mediocre," he chuckled a bit before passing Felix some eating utensils.
"Oh please! Your voice is nowhere near mediocre."
"You should listen to Woojin...or even Seungmin. Now they are really good a singing," Chris mentioned, turning back to his food.
"Could that be arranged?" She asked earning a chuckle from the older Aussie.
"You literally just have to ask them to sing and they will. No big deal."
"Well considering I don't really know them and they don't really know me, it kinda is a big deal."
"And that's exactly why I organised this lunch. So we could all settle together and you get to know them. Otherwise half of them wouldn't even get out of their room. And Jisung and Jeongin have practically become part of that seat with all the episodes they've watched."
"A-all of them will be there?"
"Of course!"
"I don't think I can do it," she admitted, catching Chris' attention again.
His eyes softened as he looked at her and he simply ruffled her hair while chuckling at how nervous she seemed.
"I know you can. Stop worrying so much. It all be alright...but if ever you feel worried you could always hold Felix's hand," he said with a wink before heading out with the food so he could place it on the table then call the other members.
