Fourteen

By midday, the state of the café was identical to the day before. People crowded outside as they held up their phones to take pictures of the boys and Sydney.

Inside, the chaos continued. Everyone was in everyone's way and orders kept on flooding in. The coffee machines were on and running non-stop, much like the employees.

"May I take a five-minute break?" Ava turned to Tori. "I feel like death threw up on me."

"I know you're tired, we all are but we have to push on. I'll close the café early today to give us a break but there's nothing we can do now. We already have a crowd outside who have been waiting hours. It just wouldn't be right to have a break at this moment," the manager explained but she wasn't just talking to Ava. Her words were addressed to everyone. Summer was going to be a hectic time for them and all they needed to do was press on despite how tired they were or how much their bodies ached.

Sydney shifted her gaze off the coffee machine and to Noah, who had replaced Felix on the other coffee machine. Felix switched his place to delivering the coffee after his fingers had become numb due to working them for many hours.

"How much do you predict we've made already?" She asked him.

Noah momentarily looked at the cash register then back to the girl.

"At least a thousand dollars today. Maybe three thousand yesterday."

"I better get paid over minimum wage after this month."

Noah chuckled.

"Yeah. Luckily for us though, Tori isn't stingy with the money the café makes. I bet the minimum we'll get would be a hundred dollars. Then again, the number of staff employed this month has doubled..."

"Honestly, we would be dead if it wasn't for the extra help. I'm glad their here."

"So am I but let's be real for a moment, the only reason you're glad is because Felix is one of them. If he wasn't you would be as happy."

"Oh come on. You know I'm not like that. So what if Felix is here? Doesn't change anything."

He gave her a look of disbelief.

"Lies. The only thing keeping you guys from flirting twenty-four-seven like Liam and Ava over there is the fact that he has a crowd of fans outside. Otherwise, you'd be all over each other."

Sydney scoffed.

"Lies. I can control myself very well, for your information. I can pretend he isn't even here if you wish. That's what I've been doing the whole day?"

Noah cocked an eyebrow as he smirked.

"Is that so?"

"Yes, it is."

"How about that time you almost dropped the coffee you were holding when he was talking to Chris behind you?"

Her cheeks instantly turned red.

"You saw that?"

"Who didn't?"

She sighed.

"Alright, fine but how am I meant to keep my cool when his voice is deeper than the Mariana Trench? Besides, I've seen the other girls fangirl too."

He passed the coffee he had made to Jisung and stared down at Sydney.

"So you're telling me that if by any chance he sneaks up behind you and back hugs you, you wouldn't freak out?"

"If I were to freak out it would be out of shock or fear."

Noah just gives her a smirk.

"We'll see about that."

"There's an awful lot of chatter going on here, " Olivia laughed as she swapped with Callum and took her place at the coffee machine beside Sydney.

"You sound like my fifth-grade History teacher. That lady was always on my case, " Noah grumbled the last part, making it clear that to this day, it still bothered him.

"Anyway, what's the chatter about? Can I join?"

"Of course. I'm just confronting Sydney."

"I like confronting. Why are we confronting?"

"Perth over here claims that if there wasn't a crowd outside, Felix and her would still not be acting like Liam and Ava."

Olivia laughed.

"Yeah, right. You guys wouldn't even be working. Just staring and flirting all day long. You're teenagers. You can't control your hormones."

"I can! And I will. You'll see."

"How about we call him over and test it out?" Noah asked.

They all turned around and watched as Felix made conversation with a fan. He had a wide smile on his face and wore no makeup, displaying how his face was speckled with freckles.

Sydney sighed as she turned back to the coffee machine and placed her head in her hands.

"You're right, " she admitted. "I wouldn't be able to."
