Lakepoppy's eyes flickered open, almost seeming to glow in the dim light. She was panting softly, and her fur was drenched with sweat. Wild thoughts raced through her head as she tried to grasp the distant fleeing memories of her dream.

She closed her eyes and swallowed nervously. She instinctively reached for one of the many feathers weaved into her nest for comfort, but she got a paw instead.

She looked down, suddenly realizing that Lionstep's paw was in her nest. Her heart lifted at the thought of him. He always helped with bad dreams.

The sandy tom lifted his head slowly, as if he already knew that he was needed. In the dark of the warriors' den, Lakepoppy could just make out his eyes, staring back at her.

"Another dream?" He asked calmly. This had happened so many times that it seemed regular to him now. Lakepoppy nodded, her eyes bobbing up and down in the dark.

"It's ok. The dreams can't hurt you." He said quietly. Lakepoppy could feel the adrenaline slowly leaking out of her veins, her heart rate returning to normal.

The sandy tom slowly eased himself into her nest next to her, fine with the fact that his back legs were hanging over the edge. Lakepoppy rested her head on his shoulder.

Normally, she would be nervous if this happened. But tonight was different. She needed the comfort, needed to feel his warm fur next to her. She decided tonight she would let it slip.

"It's ok. You can go back to sleep. I'm right here. The scary things can't get you." Lakepoppy let out an inaudible sigh of comfort, and her muscles slowly relaxed. She was going back to sleep.

"And just so you know... you look beautiful tonight." He whispered softly in her ear.

"But you can't even see me..." Lakepoppy muttered sleepily.

"I don't have to see you to know."
