The Missing Queen 

(for Mom) 

 They says she's the one 

A guy should marry 

But never does. 

 She's sick and tired

 Of dating men who've 

Abused her, 

Cheated her, 

Treated her 

Like she's second-rate 

Even when she's the Queen. 

 She's the Missing Queen,

The one everyone uses up 

Then wonders where she is. 

She's the one that men admire 

But the dregs all take her away 

Because she refuses to be 

Her own Queen Bee. 

 She's the Missing Queen, 

The one who's tired of 

Playing second fiddle 

Or being an understudy— 

A second choice. 

She cared too much 

And now she can't care at all. 

 She's the Missing Queen, 

And she doesn't want to be found 

Anymore.
