[ set ] in which she takes the love test
It was a slow day at the primary school where Ashley and Valerie worked. The two shared an office in the administration building and often answered important calls, ran a few errands, or assisted some of the teachers during lunch, which was the hour when the children were especially rowdy.
Ashley sat at her desk, waiting for something to do while she clicked away at her computer. When there was nothing for her to do, they allowed her to spend her time as she wanted. The university student spent it on the internet, looking up the latest news that pertained to her favorite team. She was logging into her twitter account when she saw she was spammed with notifications.
Her face contorted in confusion and when she clicked to see what it was, she saw the words on her screen: @marcbartra is now following you!
She immediately looked across the small space of their office to the desk that belonged to Valerie.
"Val..." Ashley called.
Her friend looked up from a magazine she was reading, Chica Moderna. "What?" She said innocently, though in reality she did not know what her friend wanted, but she guessed enough.
"Marc Bartra is now following you!" She read off the page. "Mutual followers...@ValGreene15."
"Okay," Valerie sighed, "I told him your twitter username in exchange of a followback." Muttering under her breath, she added, "Oh darn, I should have asked for a Neymar and Messi followback too. I wonder what other information he might want..."
"Valerie!" Ashley half-shouted. "You will not give him information on me. Its creepy."
Her friend shrugged, "I'm just trying to help. You like him."
"No, I don't." The girl with jet black hair shook her head in denial.
As she scrolled farther down her notifications page, she saw there was a tweet from him, addressed to her. It had been retweeted hundreds of times and now she was getting mentions and follows from people she didn't even know.
marcbartra: can all of you convince @ashflores93 to follow me back? :)
A tint of red flushed her face when she was reminded of her bio and the pictures she posted on her account. Primarily, she was a fan of football because of the teams she supported and their skills. But Ashley couldn't deny she sometimes was interested in a footballer because he was attractive. Her all time favorite was Cristiano Ronaldo because she thought he had everything. He was absolutely perfect.
Ashley could not imagine that someone who knew these players could see what she was posting. Now because of Marc, several people would be looking at her page.
Frustrated, she closed the internet browser and went to her friend's desk. "You had no right to do that." She told her.
"I was trying to help you." Valerie repeated for the second time.
"Now I'm going to get so much hate for supposedly dating a guy I don't even want to date." Ashley said, thinking about all the nasty comments she might recieve.
Valerie's expression dropped to a frown. "Well...when you put it that way...you're right. I'm sorry, okay. I was honestly trying to help because he's a nice guy and he just wants to get to know you. I promise I'll stay out of it from now on." She vowed, offering her pinky for her friend to shake on. Ashley's expression softened at her friend's sincerity and they shook on it. Valerie would no longer help Marc get any information on her friend. "Now," Valerie perked up, setting the magazine down on her desk. "Lets do the love test."
"What's the love test?" Ashley crinkled up her nose.
With her index finger pointing onto the page, she said, "Its this test I saw in this month's issue of Chica Moderna. Basically you take the two names of the love birds, then you add up the amount of letters in each name for the word true and then the word love. Then you have your true love percentage."
"That sounds like bullshit." The girl with jet black hair rolled her eyes.
"It works." Her friend insisted. "I did mine with Sergi Roberto and we were destined for each other; one hundred and forty one percent."
Ashley eyed her curiously. "That doesn't even make sense."
"We're going to get married. That's what makes sense." Valerie rambled on, causing Ashley to crack a smile.
Biting back a small smile, Ashley finally said, "Okay, do the love test on Marc and me."
Then she watched as her friend tore a sheet of paper from a notebook, reached for a pen from her box on the table, and began to write down the names of Ashley and Marc, as well as the letters that spelled out true love.
Marc Bartra & Ashley Flores.
t - 1 l - 2
r - 4 o - 1
u - 0 v - 0
e - 2 e - 2
75%
"Seventy five percent!" Valerie squealed with excitement.
Ashley's nose crinkled in confusion. "What does that mean?"
"It means that the forecast for love is seventy five percent positive." She nudged her friend.
Rolling her eyes playfully, Ashley said, "You can't always believe dumb games you see in magazines. I honestly don't believe this test." She made air quotes for the word test. But the smile that threatened to make way onto her face told Valerie otherwise.
"You're heart is melting." Valerie said in a teasing voice. "I think you're falling for Marc Bartra."

i know this chap is short. but i just wanted to post something. and just reminding you guys that since it takes place in the same universe as catfish and those ones, it will have about eleven chapters. that is also the reason because i tend to work better with short stories for some reason. and i already have a spin-off planned. but i might not even post it. i don't know. its about madrid boys. ahaha.
but anyway, i also know i have a lot of stories. so i want to finish at least three of the ones i already have on here before i post any new ones.
thank you for reading and supporting me and my stories. it genuinely means a lot.
i love you.
