Chapter 2

"Daisy, wait!" Nikki shouted in the hallways. Teresa is running beside her. The number of students in the hallways are increasing despite the principal's order.

Daisy paused to look behind her. "Why did you follow me?"

"You can't be alone. It's dangerous." Teresa said once they caught Daisy.

The three ran outside the campus to the school gates but they were blocked by Principal Miller along with a few teachers and school staff. They are a few meters away from the gates. Daisy couldn't see Jisoo because there were so many people outside wanting to enter the school grounds.

"What are you doing here?" Principal Miller asked. "Go back to your classroom. It's not safe here."

"What are you doing to them? It's also not safe outside. Let them in." Daisy replied.

"We're not sure. We can't be contaminated here."

"What?" It was Nikki. "You'll just let them outside?

Teresa nods, agreeing to Nikki. "They are also your students."

"Not all. Some are just random people wanting a safe place."

"Then let this be a safe place." Daisy said.

"Please, go back inside. This is not your problem."

"Our friends are there!" Nikki said.

"Go back." The principal said firmly.

Daisy rakes her hair in frustration. She needs to go see her girlfriend. There are a few teachers along with the guards at the gate, making sure no one can enter. The principal also started to join them after talking to the three.

Daisy whispers to her friends, "there is a back gate, right?"

Nikki nods. "But no one really used it anymore. I thought it was a myth."

"Do you think Jisoo knows about it and you can meet her there?" Teresa asked.

"Probably not." Daisy answered. But she can tell her. The signal might be jammed but she can still tell her. Jisoo is Korean-American and she taught her a little Korean. Hopefully no one else here can speak the language.

So Daisy ran towards the gates where Principal Miller and others were managing the raging crowd from outside, Teresa and Nikki called and followed her, and she saw Jisoo through the gates. Their eyes met. Daisy shouted, "지수, 후문에서 만나자!" She basically called her girlfriend to meet at the back gate. Jisoo understood it as she slowly pulled herself from the crowd.

"What?" Principal Miller turned to Daisy, Teresa and Nikki beside her. "I told you to go back."

"I know what she said." Someone from the crowd said. "She said the back gate is open." That's not what she said. She's not sure if the back gate is open.

The crowd began to disperse as they ran around the school to reach the other gate. Some guards and teachers also rushed towards the other side of the campus. Principal Miller angrily looked at Daisy, "what have you done?"

Daisy ran along with her friends before the principal could catch her.

They reached the back gate. It is not open but it was only wrapped in a loose chain making the outsiders enter through the space below. One of them was Jisoo. Jisoo and Daisy smiled when they saw each other. They were running to meet each other with arms wide open for a hug.

The guards couldn't handle the stampede by just simply shouting at them. They must do something to catch everyone's attention. Everyone stopped when they heard a gunshot.

Meanwhile, back at the classroom. Nothing but screams could be heard when Ned was attacked. Everyone ran towards the back of the classroom, far from the incident, except Ted who ran towards his twin and hit the attacker.

"Stay"–Ted punched the attacker–"away"–he hit once again–"from"–and again–"my brother."

The attacker let go of Ned. The attacker laughed. But he was not alone. It was just then when they noticed there are also other two guys outside their classroom, laughing while holding a cellphone, recording them.

"It's a prank!" The one holding the cellphone said.

"That hurts, dude." The attacker, who is covered in blood-like liquid, said while rubbing his back.

They were left dumbfounded when the pranksters walked away to the next classroom.

"Stupid pranksters," Brooklyn said, finally catching her breath after what she thought–like everyone else–is a real zombie. "Where did they even get the props?"

"That's not a funny prank," said Malibu.

"Are you okay?" Ted asked his twin. They locked the door again.

Ned is checking his body, there are a few red marks on him. It looks like paint now. You wouldn't notice that immediately if you were suddenly attacked. "I will never open a door again."

They locked the door again. They remained silent until a gunshot was heard from a distance. Before anyone could ever react, another bang was heard. But it wasn't another gunshot. It's from the door. A girl from their class reached for it.

"What are you doing?" asked Trey. "Didn't you learn from what happened earlier? Don't open it."

"I hate to agree with Trey but what we heard was a gunshot. Are we really opening that door?" Brooklyn said out loud.

"What I learned from earlier was that there are so many pranksters. Are we believing the gunshot this time? And I wanna pee." Their classmate said and opened the door.

Their classmate pushed the knob. The door was pushed along with their classmate, she almost fell as someone from outside attacked her.

"Ha!" Trey shouted. "You won't get us this time. Nice prank."

The attacker didn't stop. Their classmate was crying. And bleeding. The attacker is biting her neck.

"Help!" She cried. But no one moved. Some even assumed she was part of the prank and laughed.

Malibu became alert. She looked carefully. No one was filming outside. "I don't think it's a prank anymore."

Their classmate fell on the floor, leaving her unconscious. A part of her neck was missing. There is now a pool of blood on the floor. She was bleeding so much. The attacker faced them, tilting his head. He looked familiar. He is one of their schoolmates but his clothes are all stained with blood. Veins are showing angrily on his face. Almost unrecognizable. He then attacked another one from the class. Screams once again filled the classroom. It was chaotic. Everyone rushed to the door but not everyone could fit. They were pushing and pulling each other to be the first one to go out.

"Renee," Brooklyn called as she pulled Renee. "You can't just hide under the table."

Brooklyn, Renee, Malibu, and Ken are all still at the back, not wanting to join the stampede. Also not knowing what to do. The attacker attacked another one.

"We need something to defend ourselves," Ken said as he picked up a chair.

"Would this help?" Renee asked as she picked up a ballpen on the floor.

The girl who was first attacked on the floor started to twitch. "Guys, look," Malibu pointed out.

The girl is all veiny now like the attacked. Her body slowly gets up, limbs swinging flailing, her neck is cracking as she looks around almost 180°. Then she walked towards the crowd wanting to escape the room and attacked one of their classmates, biting their flesh like what was done to her.

The first attacker then looked at Malibu, straight into her eyes. She could hear her heartbeat in her ears.
