Chapter 1
"Where's Skipper?" Barbie asked once she entered the kitchen for breakfast. Stacie and Chelsea are already eating with their mom. The puppies are chasing each other under the dining table. Their dad probably already left for work.
"She already left." Chelsea answered.
Barbie and Skipper are supposed to go to school together since they are going to the same highschool.
"Oh, I should also go then. I'm gonna be late." Barbie said.
"What about breakfast?" Margaret, their mom, asked.
Barbie grabbed one of the sandwiches stacked on the kitchen counter. "I'll eat this on my way."
Margaret shakes her head as Barbie heads outside.
"Teenagers," Chelsea also shakes her head.

Barbie is now preparing her car when Barbie 'Brooklyn' appears. Barbie 'Malibu' always drives Brooklyn to school.
"Hi Barbie!" Brooklyn greeted.
"Oh, hi Barbie!" Malibu responded.
They are chit chatting about random shenanigans while on their way to school. Soon, they reached Golden Beach High. There are still many students walking in the hallways, going to their respective classes.
Malibu parked her car and the two Barbies are now walking to their classroom. They entered just before the school bell rings. They sit next to Daisy, Teresa, Nikki, and Renee. But it isn't the ring signifying the beginning of the class. It is different. Something they haven't heard before.
Renee hides under the table. "Is that the fire alarm?"
"Why are you hiding if there's a fire?" Daisy asked. "But it really does sound like an alarm."
"That's not the alarm for an earthquake nor a fire." Nikki said.
The six look at each other and shrug, not knowing what the chaos is about. The rest of their classmates are also as confused as them. One of their classmates opens the door. The hallways are empty.
The ringing stopped and the TV hung above the board turned on. It shows Principal Miller. Renee slowly got up back on her seat to watch the announcement.
"Hello, students of Golden Beach High. This is Principal Miller. There is news about a national emergency but we are still making sure about it. There will be no classes today. Meanwhile, I am advising everyone to stay inside their classrooms until further notice. Keep calm and stay safe."
"There are no classes!" The twins, Ned and Ted, cheered which some of their classes echoed.
"Guys, haven't you heard there's a national emergency? It's not the right time to have fun." Malibu spoke to the class. But her classmates just booed her. "Boo! Don't be such a killjoy," they said.
Ken, who was seated in front, approached her. Their classmates also started roaming around since there will be no classes.
"Are you alright?" Ken asked Malibu.
"I'm worried," she answered. "Principal Miller said there's a national emergency and we're just here."
"I'm pretty sure it's not that serious. It's not like it's the end of the world." He joked but no one laughed.
The TV turned on once again with Principal Miller.
"Students of Golden Beach High. No one leaves the campus from now on. No one will also be permitted to enter gates. Los Angeles is now declared as a state of emergency as there has been an unknown zombie-like virus spreading–"
The announcement was cut. The screen is frozen and the sound is static. There is a collective gasp from the students.
"Zombie?" Brooklyn gulped. "Did I hear that right?"
"Trey is still not here." Just right after Ted said that, the classroom door opened. "Speak of the devil."
Trey enters the room and shouts, "There are zombies!"
"Is that real?" Ted asked.
"Are you sure?" It was Ned.
"I am late because I was blocked by a crowd. They looked like zombies. There are so many. I still managed to enter the school gates before they locked it. There are still students outside." Trey replied, panting as he walked to his seat to rest after running.
"Usually, I will not believe everything Trey said but this one is pretty serious." Teresa said.
"I hope this is also just one of his pranks," Ken uttered.
The TV finally shuts down. The students are now panicking. As much as Malibu wants to stay positive, she can't help but to be anxious. "Oh no, we're stuck here," she said. "How about my family?"
Malibu opened her cellphone to contact her family group chat. There are already texts from there. Her father said they are also on lockdown at work. Her mother, who was on her way to drive Stacie and Chelsea to school before going to her work, is now driving back home when they heard the news. Skipper said she is safe inside in their classroom. They are asking about her whereabouts. Malibu is about to send a reply saying she too is inside her classroom but it wasn't sent. There is no internet in their school Wi-Fi. She opened her mobile data but there was also no signal.
"Guys, can I connect to your hotspot?" Malibu asked her friends.
Nikki is also on her phone. "I also don't have a signal."
"Me too." Teresa said.
The panic noises of her classmates are getting louder which added to Malibu's distress. The rest of her classmates are on their phones looking for news updates but the connection has been cut off. Some are trying to open the TV again. Someone opened the door.
"Hey!" Malibu shouted at the one who opened the door. "Principal Miller said just stay here."
"Guys," Daisy spoke, her eyes on her phone screen. "The last text I received from Jisoo before the connection was off is that she is outside the school gate." She is talking about her girlfriend. "The guards won't let her in but she can't go back to their house because of these zombie-like creatures. I need to go get her."
"But we should stay here," Malibu said.
Daisy stands up. "Nothing will happen if we stay here. We're clueless about what's happening. We're not sure if we're safe here."
"I actually agree with her," Brooklyn said.
"Wait!" Malibu tried to stop Daisy but she already ran outside. "Should we follow her?"
"It is dangerous outside so I will follow her," Nikki said. "She needs someone with her. You guys stay here."
"I will go with you," Teresa followed Nikki outside.
"I'm scared," Renee said as she once again hid under the table.
The students' opinion is divided. Some of her classmates also left the classroom. They can see students from other sections roaming around the hallway. While some wanted to stay in their classroom. One even shouted "locked the door" which one obeyed.
There was silence. No one spoke. All afraid about the chaos outside. Ken holds Malibu's hand which brings her comfort.
Malibu's other hand is still holding her phone. Still no signal. She puts it back in her pocket.
They keep quiet for a while until someone is banging the door from the outside.
"Are those the zombies?" Renee asked from under the table.
Ned walks near the door. "Who are you?"
"Help!" Someone from the outside shrieked. Ned holds the door knob.
"Don't open it!" Trey followed Ned. "They might be zombies." Some of their classmates agreed. Some just stay quiet, waiting for what's gonna happen next.
"But they need help," Ned replied and quickly turned the knob, unlocking the door, before anyone could stop him. Trey hid behind Ted.
The door opened, revealing a guy drenched in bloody red and attacked Ned. Screams filled the room.
