16; fools 🌸

"Hey Dad, there's this thing with the travel club." I started as I casually walked into the kitchen while he was cutting some carrots, "We have this camping thing. Can I go?"

"Camping? Sounds fun. For how long?" He glanced at me shortly then went back to washing the dishes.

"One week." I replied, my fingers crossed.

"One week?" Dad gave me a look, "And how about your school? Are you skipping school for a whole week, Venus Yoo?"

"No, we're going away during the golden week. It's like a holiday week. There's no school for a whole week." I replied, sitting myself down at table and helping him peel the potatoes, "I really want to go."

"I don't know kid. Let me think about it tonight." Dad said as he finished washing the potato cubes and put them in the casserole.

"Okay, uh, do you need help with something?" I offered because I know I need to get on his good side. I need to work hard for him to allow me to go to the fake camping trip.

"Not really. I'm practically done here anyway." He added, busy adding spices on the casserole. "On second thought, can you get me the salt? The new one is in the cupboard."

"Here." I handed him the salt and watched as he sprinkled a tiny bit of it on the casserole.

He glanced at me and smiled because I was so lost as I watched him cooking. It's always been a wonder to me how he got so good in cooking when he literally burnt an egg into charcoal before. I only realized that Dad was watching me when he chuckled at me.

"You remind me of your mom so much." Dad smiled warmly at me as he patted the top of my head gently. "My precious daughter."

I smiled up at him, "Don't get sentimental in me now. You know I hate it. Besides, it doesn't suit you, Dad."

He laughed heartily, "Yeah I know. Go on and do your homework or something. I need to see your high grades before I allow you to go to the camping trip. I'll call you when dinner is ready."

Saturday morning

Dad has gone to work already when I woke up. I got up and made my bed before I washed my face and brushed my teeth. My hair has always been uncooperative in the mornings so I just let it be. Besides, it's Saturday morning. I don't have to move a single muscle until later this afternoon for another practice with the team. To be honest, I'm a bit excited for practice later because Coach said he has our uniforms! I'll finally be able to wear my own uniform with the name and everything! I told Sydney this and she was as hyped up as me. She even offered to take stills of me when I play in my uniform later.

I literally screamed when I saw it, the note that was pinned by the fridge:

Better start packing your bags for that camping trip.

Love,
the coolest dad in the world

"Dad, you are just the awesomest!" I shouted as I jumped around and squealed. My day just couldn't get any better.

The doorbell rang. I knew it was going to be Sydney because Saturday mornings is our thing. She rang it again, "Coming Syd! Calm your tits please."

"Are there pancakes? There better be pancakes because that's all I'm here for." Sydney said as I let her inside.

We moved to the kitchen where Dad left us food. He knew Syd was coming for a visit so he cooked for two. "You know sometimes I wonder if you're really my best friend or you're just using me for food." I told her. "Are you just using me for food?"

"Hm, I'm not really sure.." She pretended to think, making me hit her arm lightly. Syd laughed when I took her unfinished plate, "No, I'm kidding. I will never sell you out for food." She hugged my waist and grinned when I returned her plate. "You know I'm loyal to you."

"Yeah right. I suppose you forgot that when you ditched me for your boy toy." I nudged her arm, sending her a grin.

"B-Boy toy?" She stammered, flushed at the thought of Jimin. "We're not like that. Besides, it was just that one time because I told you he wouldn't stop bugging me."

"Bitch please. You ain't fooling me." I teased her more, dragging out the accent. "He kissed you. I know it's more than just a date but tell me, is he a good kisser?"

"How should I know?" Syd was embarrassed. I can tell because she can't look straight at my face. "That was my first kiss.. I don't have anything to compare it with so I don't know.. if he was good or not."

A wider smile stretched across my face. I scooted closer to her as we stood beside each other while washing our plates, "But in general, how was it?"

Syd was silent and then she mumbled under her breath, "Soft."

"Soft?" I peeked at her face, confused. "What's soft? The kiss?"

"His lips. It was soft." She blushed uncontrollably, her ears getting red.

"Oh my gosh, Syd. Your ears!" I pointed at it and she sprayed water on me. My stomach started to hurt from laughing so much. "So Park Jimin's lips are soft."

"Stop making fun of me!" She whined, pouting.

"Fine. I'll stop if you answer this last question." We both stopped what we were doing. She feared the wide grin on my face. "Do you like him?"

Syd didn't andwer which led me to think that she does. I followed after her, clinging against her arm, "You do like him! I am totally shipping you two!"

"Alright, line up and get your uniforms!" Coach said. Jungkook was beside him, looking as intimidating in his own uniform as he was the first time we met.

"I guess yours is the smallest size." He said as he handed me my uniform.

"Yeah. Thanks for stating the obvious." I deadpanned.

Coach clapped his hands together to get everyone's attention, "Quickly change into your uniforms so we can start practice. Go. Let's be productive today."

Of course, because I'm a girl, I had to wait for everyone to finish before I can go in and lock the door to get myself some privacy. I hurriedly slipped into my pants and pulled the shirt down over my body. A perfect fit. Well, not really, it was loose but that's okay. That way, my chest won't be sticking out and I wouldn't have to be conscious when I run. After changing, I rendezvous with the team back in the field. They were already starting with some stretches. I joined them, placing myself between Jimin and Namjoon.

"Dude, you're bent in half like a freaking folder." Namjoon told Jimin while he struggled to reach his toes. "How are you so flexible? I think my waist is going to be dislocated if I go any further than this."

"Ah~ That's refreshing." Jimin sprung up like a small bean and smiled as he stretched his arms up.

"Jimin, help! I can't reach my own toes." Taehyung waved Jimin over and Jimin positioned himself behind Taehyung, slowly pushing his back.

"Uh, Vee? Can you tell your friend not to photograph my butt?" Yoongi shuffled closer to me as I was finishing my own stretching routine.

"Who? Sydney?" I looked at where she was seated by the bleachers and waved at her with a huge smile as I pointed at the back of my uniform where my last name was printed.

"Sydney's here?" Jimin's head snapped up and he let go of Taehyung as he went to scan the people in the bleachers one by one.

He found her too and smiled, "Hyung, she's not taking a picture of your butt. She's taking a picture of mine. If they want to see your ass they might as well stare at a wall."

"Get the fuck out, jimin, nobody wants you here." Yoongi had plainly blurted out in an attempt to drag Jimin's self confidence down.

"Yeah, right." Jimin teased the older one as he held a smirk on his lips. "We all know who's got game here."

"Game with what dick?" Yoongi made an unbeatable comeback that made Taehyung who was beside him snicker, "Keep talking ass, boy, cause you sure as hell can't beat me."

Jimin and Yoongi had a stare off before they began to race each other. I rolled my eyes, being so used around these guys made my cheeks numb. I don't even blush anymore or become flustered when they talk about porn or the hot seat mate of theirs. With a sigh, I straightened my spine and stretched the muscle around my neck and shoulders.

Jungkook called everyone when he was done with his stretches too, "Let's take four laps."

"I think those two already made ten laps." Hoseok laughed, watching Jimin and Yoongi competitively running against each other.

Jin smirked, preparing to run as well. "Show offs."

When we finished running, we were given time to rest before trying out the new game plans that coach prepared. We sat on the bench, huddled up together, listening attentively to the game strategies we were about to try out today. I was teamed up with Jungkook again and surprisingly he didn't complain. He just gathered us and told us our positions.

"Vee-" He caught his tongue. "I mean, Barbie, will be the last to bat." Jungkook said and we made eye contact for a second which was really awkward. "We got this. Just remember, team play."

The game was only going for a good thirty minutes but both of our groups refused to let the other team win. We were one point behind when Jungkook called us in again, boosting the group's morale. It was the last chance for us to score and I was the one to bat. I was too nervous as I went in position. It all depends on me. It's just a practice game but why is everyone so competitive.

Jungkook handed me the bat, "Goodluck."

I gave him a small smile. Yoongi was signaling to me, asking if I'm ready. I nodded at him, watching him digging his shoes on the ground first before throwing the pitch. The ball was thrown and, the adrenaline rushed through my veins. I gripped tightly on the bat as I swung it, twisting my torso just as Jungkook repeatedly told me and then it sounded; the ball hitting the end of my bat as it flew across the field. I ran for first base, feeling so light on my feet. Now I know why we had to put on ankle weights while running.

Jimin was running after the ball but too late since I'm already near third base by the time he threw the ball at Namjoon. I can hear my heart drumming so fast in my ears, my team mates cheering for me and Jungkook was waiting at the last base. I've never been so happy to see him.

Jungkook had to put himself before me to stop me from running. I crashed onto his body and his arms simultaneously wrapped themselves around my waist. He lifted me up, spinning me around but the awkwardness quickly set in as my feet touched the ground again.

"Sorry." Jungkook quickly retrieved his hand back from my waist as if he just touched something burning hot.

"Y-Yeah, me too. Sorry." I said as I took a step back.

Jungkook tried to think of something to say while I stare at the ground and when he couldn't come up with anything, he just mumbled one word, "Bye."

"Ok bye." I replied as fast and we both started to walk in the opposite direction, oblivious to the fact that Yoongi has seen the whole fiasco and had to suffer in our place.

"Those two are so fucking dumb." Yoongi shook his head, arms crossed in front of his chest. "I could probably write a whole essay based on their stupidity. Hm, not a bad idea, maybe that'll get me an A in English."
