The group found themselves doing random chores around the house and in the backyard soon after. Steve and Nancy were in the wooden shack, covering it with random blankets or whatever they could find as the others were in around the house or on the property. "Hey, what you did... helping the kids, that was really cool."
"Yeah, those shits are real trouble you know? Don't know how Blake deals with them all the time," Steve scoffed, stepping up on the ladder as Nancy laughed. "Yeah, I know."
"Speaking of Blake," She started, "Is something happening with you guys?"
Steve chuckled nervously, "What? No, no, no nothing is happening."
"What's not happening?" Blake questioned, walking in with blankets and sheets in her arms. Steve immediately got down, taking them from her and smiling, "Oh nothing."
Blake rose a brow, smirking, "Yeah, okay, Harrington."
The pair started talking as Nancy watched them, seeing how they were around each other. She noticed Blake actually smiling as Steve made some joke.
Soon, everyone was in the back shed, taping and stapling everything to hide the bones of the shack so Will could not tell where he was. Hopper brought in the sleeping boy, tying him to the chair and waking him up with the smell of ammonia on a cotton ball. Will shot up, Joyce, Jonathan, Mike, Hopper and Blake all standing around him.
Will looked around, shifting in his chair, "What is this? Why am I tied up?"
Joyce walked over to her son, the four others watching carefully, "Will, we just want to talk to you. We aren't going to hurt you."
"Where am I?" He yelled, Hopper bending down to his level with the drawing in hand. "Do you recognize this?"
Will shook his head and Mrs. Byers sighed. "Hey, we just want to help you. And to do that, we have to understand how to kill it."
"Why am I tied up?" Will screamed, thrashing around over and over as the lights started to flicker.
"Let me go!" He started demanding, his voice not his when he did so. Mike, Blake, and Jonathan who were behind the adults all took a slight step back, chest rising up and down.
Will stopped, leaning his head on Hopper's arm, looking at Joyce who starting to speak, "Do you know what March 22nd is?"
She waited a few moments before answering, "It's your birthday. Your birthday."
"When you turned eight, I gave you that huge box of crayons, do you remember that? It's one hundred-twenty colors. And all your friends got you Star Wars toys but all you wanted to do was draw, with your new colors," She smiled sadly.
"And you drew this big space ship but it wasn't from a movie, it was your spaceship. A rainbow ship is what you called it and you must have used every color in the box. I took that with me to Melvald's and I put it up and told everyone who came in, 'My son drew this.' You were so embarrassed."
"Do you remember the day Dad left?" Jonathan questioned making Blake look at him. Neither boys liked talking about this and she knew it. The teenage boy walked over to his brother, "We stayed up all night building Castle Byers, just the say you drew it. And it look so long because you were so bad at hammering. You'd miss the nail every time."
"And then it started raining, but we stayed out there anyway. We were both sick for like a week after that. But we just had to finish it, didn't we? We just had to." Blake and Mike shared a look, the boy starting to cry as she nodded at him to tell a memory. "Do you remember the first day that we met?"
"It was... it was the first day of kindergarten. I knew nobody. I had no friends and... I just felt so alone and so scared, but... I saw you on the swings and you were alone, too."
Mike sniffled, looking up at Will who was already watching him, "You were just swinging by yourself. And I just walked up to you and... I asked. I asked if you wanted to be my friend. And you said yes. You said yes.It was the best thing I've ever done."
By this point everyone had tears in their eyes, even Blake who wanted to speak but physically couldn't without starting to cry.
"Will, baby... if you're in there, just please... please talk to us. Please, honey, please, can you do that for me? Please? I love you so much."
It was silent for a few minutes, Will's eyes shaking before he answered, "Let me go."
The group sighed, looking at each other before Hopper pulled them out, being careful not to let Will see the outside.
They all walked into the kitchen, Blake going over to Steve and hiding her face in his chest. He wrapped an arm around her waist, one hand going to her hair and smoothing it down as Dustin spoke, "What happened?"
"I think he's talking, just not with words," Hop sighed as Blake looked up at Steve, who smiled and dragged her to the table. "What is that?"
"Morse code," The boys and shorter teenage girl answered. "H-E-R-E. Here. Will's still in there. He's talking to us."
They all nodded to each other, Jonathan running and grabbing his boombox before telling them that they can go. Blake, who was talking with Steve, shook her head at them, "I'm going to stay in here. Help them translate."
The process was fast, the party translating everything Hopper was giving them. Nancy finished, holding up the cardboard she was writing on. "Close gate."
All the sudden the phone on the wall rang, everyone panicking as Dustin ran to it. He slammed the phone down the receiver before it started ringing again. Nancy took it, slamming it on the floor as Blake picked up her bat and started beating the phone with it.
"Do you think he heard that?"
"It's just a phone. It could be anywhere. Right?" Blake, who was now wiping the hair off her face cursed while looking at them, "No. He knows."
The girl proved to be right, hearing a familiar roar in the distance. "That's not good."
The others ran in, Will in Jonathan's arms as Blake tried to get the kids away from the windows. "Hey! Get away from the windows!"
"Do you know how to use this?" Hopper asked Jonathan who went wide eyed. "What?"
"Can you use this?"
Nancy interrupted the boy before he could answer, "I can."
Hop threw her the gun as Blake and Steve stepped in front of the kids, both readying their bats. "Where are they?"
"What are thy doing?" Nancy asked, hearing them outside the dining room window.
"Hunting," Blake told nonchalant, bringing the bat closer.
A snarl from the front door grabbed their attention before it stopped, one of them whining in pain and suddenly being thrown through the window.
Everyone walked to it, besides Blake who stood her ground looking at the door. The door creaked, being unlocked being unlocked on its own making everyone gasp.
"Lower your weapons," Blake whispered, all eyes widening at her words.
"Lower your weapons!" She yelled, the door opening as she did so. The girl she knew was at the door stepped in, everyone finally listening and lowering their weapons. Blake watched as Mike looked at El, tearing up as he walked forward and giving her a sad smile.
"El."
