Chapter 4: Wine and Saliva

Hex led us to an inn, no one realizing that we were covered in blood while we were in the streets. After walking inside, Hex turned the innkeeper into a pawn, so we were able to stay for free. We traveled into our room, sighing with relief.

"You can bathe first, Sin. I know you can't stand grime, and you're covered in it."

Hex was right about that. I had frog remnants and blood on my hands, Hex's blood on my face and feet, soil everywhere, and leaves in my hair. It was unbearable, but I felt bad for Hex.

"I know I'm greedy, but I'll let you bathe first. Make it quick," I said, keeping seriousness in my voice so I didn't sound weak. Hex's face lit up, nodding in agreement.

"Thanks. I won't take too long."

"Good."

I was left alone in the main room of the inn. There were two beds beside each other, blue blankets atop them. The walls were bare, wood having been erected into them. The floors were also wood. A bathroom door was to my right, alone on its wall.

I wanted to lie down, but I'd dirty the sheets. I'd done too much in one day. My stomach was aching like crazy, so I was miserable. I felt deprived.

With nothing better to do, I started to pick the gunk from my hair. I pulled out leaves and twigs, letting them fall to the ground. While picking, I flinched. I felt something squishy in my hair, which disgusted me. I pulled the area of hair in front of my face. I looked at the creature with a horrified expression. A fat maggot had found its way inside. I smacked it out, then continued grooming.

While I was tidying, Hex came out of the bathroom. He was fast as he said he'd be. He wore a large, dark blue tee that went down to his mid-thighs. Baggy black pants were also worn, though they were clearly too long and spacious.

"I forgot to remove our illusions. Can you stay here for a second?"

"Yes, but why are your clothes so large?" I questioned, wondering why he'd wear pants he had to pull up every few seconds.

"I'll show you tomorrow. I would today, but I'm running low on magic."

"Understandable."

Hex looked at his clothes, rolling up the legs to his pants. They were dragging on the ground, which could ruin them. He looked back up, ready to recite.

"The eyes have been tricked, and deceit been made. Minds have been fooled. Though unattainable, my wish was granted. My eyes no longer need to be cleared, as the mirage will fade. Destroy illusion."

"I'm taking a bath, now."

Hex nodded, so I traveled into the bathroom. The floor was made of stone, the walls wooden. A brush was left on the sink edge, Hex's curly hair in the bristles. His wet towel was hung up, a fresh one beside it. The bathroom was basic with a sink, toilet, bathtub, and a few cabinets of soaps and other supplies.

I started the water, filling the bathroom with steam. I lowered my body in, instantly relaxed. The warmth felt great. The dirt started to lift from my body, so I made sure to scrub everything off. There was still stuff in my hair.

I was in the bath for around forty minutes, then I remembered that we were going to eat after. I bathed for too long. My fingers and toes were wrinkled. I slipped out of the water, starting to drain it.

While I was drying off, Hex walked in. I wasn't dressed yet, but it didn't really matter after the day we had. He walked over to me, handing me a black hair tie.

"Here. I forgot to give this to you. You can use that brush. I took this stuff on the way here."

"From stalls?"

"Yeah, I'm good at sneaking. It's how I avoid everyone at the castle," Hex explained, causing me to recall the fact I rarely saw him.

"That explains why I didn't see you when you stalked me..."

"I stalked everyone. The others were boring, but I found you funny. That's why I stayed for so long."

"I'm glad that I was entertaining... Thanks for bringing this."

"You need it. Your hair has been wild all day. Please don't take an hour with it, as we really need to start hunting for food," Hex said, knowing my brushing habits. I was starving, too, so I understood where he was coming from.

"Fine. You can leave, now."

Hex nodded, leaving the bathroom. Before I put on clothes, I wanted to brush my hair. I picked up the brush, moving it through my blond strands. I brushed for around a half an hour. It wasn't perfect, but It'd do. I took the black hair tie Hex had handed to me, and I tied up my hair into a ponytail.

Next, I needed clothes. I slipped on everything, realizing a problem. The shirt was tight. I was in a slightly baggy pair of dark red pants, which fit really well, and a black tee. The tee was hugging my skin.

I was annoyed, but I tried to calm down. Then, I walked out of the bathroom, strolling over to Hex. I had an agitated look on my face, but I didn't want to start anything.

"Good. You're clothed."

"The shirt is tight," I groaned, plucking it away from my skin. It moved back, sticking to my skin again. Hex looked at me with a slightly happy look, due to the fact we were about to go for blood.

"I know it's tight."

"Why'd you get it?..."

"Sex appeal. It's showing off your muscles, as it's too tight not to. Since there isn't space, it doesn't appear like you have fat since you don't," Hex explained, acting like he knew what he was talking about. I sort of understood, but I wasn't happy with it.

"It's uncomfortable. I can barely move... It's going to rip."

"Rip it. If there are a few rips, you'll be in a little more comfort. Stay still, I'll do it for you."

"Why don't we get a shirt that fits? I don't care about appeal," I complained, stiff with my arms close to my sides.

"If you don't have appeal, how are you going to trick anyone? If you want options for food, this is your best bet. The clothes you wear at home are too loose, so you looked like a slacker."

"Fine. Rip the shirt, then."

Hex pulled out a dagger, scrapping it into me. He cut two large rips into the back of the shirt and three small ones on the front. On the back, one rip was from the center of my back, going diagonally to my right shoulder. The other was horizontal on my lower back. On the front, one was horizontal below my left nipple, one was vertical near my right side, and the last was from my belly button to a few inches away from my right nipple. He cut into my flesh with each swipe, but it healed quickly.

"Where did you get the dagger?"

"Another stall. Anyway, are you feeling better?" Hex asked, carefully sucking the blood off his blade with a sour-face and putting it back. I started moving around in the shirt. Since it was ripped, it gave me less restriction.

"I can tolerate it, now."

"Let's go get blood, then. I'm separating from you. We'll meet back here," Hex responded, giving an innocent smile.

"Why are we separating?"

"We both have different means of allure. I'll pretend I'm lost or need comforting, which will make it so I can lure them out of sight. I just need to use fake tears and sobs. However, you will attract someone. You need to flirt, then when they think you'll do more, lure them somewhere and kill."

"I'm sure I can figure it out. Have you had blood directly from a human?" I asked, wanting to know how it was. As soon as I saw humans, I felt the draw to suck from them. I thought it must be amazing to affect my instincts so.

"Once. I forget what it's like."

"I haven't. I wonder if blood is better when warm."

"I'm sure it is. I'm leaving, now. You should go to a tavern. The woman there are usually desperate and intoxicated," Hex suggested in a rush, as he wanted blood.

"I'll check it out. Do you have any money? I should buy a drink to blend in."

"Sure. I took some from the clothes store. Don't get drunk."

Hex dug around in his pocket, then handed me a sack of coins.

"I've never had alcohol. I doubt I'll get drunk on my first try."

"You say that now... I'll trust you. You'll probably be too focused on blood," Hex said. He was right. I couldn't think of alcohol, as blood was the only thing on my mind.

"See you later, Hex."

"See you later."

Hex and I walked out, separating as soon as we reached the night air. It was cool outside. It felt good to be in the darkness, as opposed to sweating to death during the day.

I walked through the streets, stopping when I found a tavern. It was noisy, as I could hear it from outside the doors. I went in, my ears filled with yelling. The people within were deplorable, and, with further searching, the building around them, too. It was filled with wooden tables and chairs. Some women were in light brown dresses, serving others drinks. The floors were sticky and covered in food particles, some partially digested.

I was disgusted, but some women looked good. I dealt with it, sitting at a table away from everyone. I ordered a glass of wine of whatever brand, as I didn't know what to get. The chair I sat on was rickety. The wine came, so I sat with it, pondering if I should drink it.

I sighed, as I didn't know what I was doing. While wondering how to talk to a woman, I had a sip of the wine. I spat it out, surprised by the taste.

For some reason, a woman came by when she saw. She was giggling, so I was immediately offended. I tried not to show it and allowed her to continue. She sat beside me, turning to face me. She had blue eyes and short, strawberry blond hair. Some freckles were on her cheeks. She wore a short blue dress, most of her thighs visible.

"You don't like wine?" she asked, grinning.

"I'd never had it before. I was surprised by the taste."

I was wondering why she was talking to me. She had alcohol on her breath, her cheeks slightly flushed. I tried smiling, appearing interested. I didn't know how to speak to women, so I figured I'd get to know her. It'd open her up, at least.

"Are you new around here? You have an accent."

"Yes, I just came to town today. What's your name?" I asked, trying to change the topic from where I came from.

"Call me Fae. All of my friends do."

Why would they call her Fae? I don't see why a human would want to be associated with the faery realm. Those things are mischievous little bastards.

I ignored it, continuing the conversation.

"I'm Sanneroal. It's a pleasure."

Fae started laughing gently. I didn't know what her deal was.

"Sounds like a bloodsucker name. Isn't their first prince called Sanneroal?" She asked, clearly trying to think about it. I wasn't aware humans knew about us. Fae was off, though. I'm not everyone's prince, just the kingdom of Zerosallow's. We're the largest kingdom, but there are plenty more.

"Yeah. He is. I'm always compared because of his name."

"Knew it. I've been studying royal families for a wide array of creatures on my free time. It's strange, but I think it's cool."

"Vampires are cool, but it'd be terrifying to see one. How much blood do you think one would take?" I asked, grinning. I was bored, so I wanted to see her opinion on my kind. I wondered how much blood she thought we drank, as I wanted to compare to my own habits.

"You think they're cool? You're strange. I hate them, but I think their history is cool. Do vamps have limits on how much they drink? They seem glutinous. I imagine that they'd take as much as they could."

If we took as much as we could, we'd all be morbidly obese... It's not hard to kill humans, but it's good to allow them to live for later food supplies. We all take as much as we want, not can.

"You think so? Let's get off this dark topic. Tell me more about yourself."

"I've lived in this town for my whole life. I work at a book store, so I read a lot. I'm not really special."

"That's not true. You seem intelligent." I argued. Intelligence is certainly a good thing. Fae started giggling again.

"Are you sure you're not a vampire? They value smarts, though nobility seems to be lowering in it over time."

Fae kept insulting my race, which was really getting on my nerves. Humans have no right to. I guess my siblings aren't bright, though... Mother is smarter than Father too...

"Do any of the princes or princesses seem intelligent?"

"Actually, yes. I read about a magic prodigy named Hixrinas. The rest are oblivious, but he seems to have a good future. Not too promising for us humans."

And Fae offended me next... Hex isn't the only smart one...

"How about Sanneroal? I'm always compared to him," I questioned, hoping she thought somewhat highly of me. I'm not sure why, as humans aren't very important.

"I don't think he's intelligent. Maybe even mentally retarded. According to his bio, he doesn't leave his room. Not much is known about him. Hixrinas is his full brother, but I don't think Sanneroal is even close to him. He's destructive, too. Sanneroal killed one of his brothers, and he's known to be harsh. He'll harm you for slight offenses. I don't think you're like Sanneroal. You seem intelligent."

Humans think that I'm some bumbling handicap idiot... Why would that be assumed?

Fae compared me to me... Isn't taking revenge smart? They wouldn't listen to me if I didn't teach them a lesson.

"Thanks. Anyways, do you want my wine? I'm not going to drink it."

I didn't like how it tasted, so I thought I might as well fuel her intoxication. I passed it over to Fae, trying not to snap at her. She was making me furious as we spoke. Why couldn't she have been dumb and slutty?

"Are you sure? You could get used to it."

"Yeah. I don't want it." I reaffirmed. Fae blushed, glancing at the glass.

"I can help you drink it."

"Wh-"

Before I could say anything, Fae quickly took a sip and kissed me. I was sickened, as a human shouldn't do that to a vampire. She looked and smelled good but in an edible way. It was as if I was kissed by a pig, tongue and all. The wine was still bitter, but it was better than her saliva. Though I didn't want to, I acted as if I liked it by grinning. I took the wine, drinking it to get Fae's taste from my mouth. She looked satisfied.

"Do you like wine now? You're drinking it."

"It's decent. I liked you better," I purred, pretending to be attracted. I gave up, deciding I'd lie to her from here, out. I was thirsty, and I didn't want to take all day. I didn't know how to seduce people, but I figured I'd learn. Fae seemed interested in me. She blushed when I told her I liked the kiss.

"I can help you drink it whenever you want."

"Good. So, why are you out here tonight?" I asked, tilting her face near mine and looking into her eyes. I don't think she saw that I was nauseous. If I wanted blood, I was going to have to be pushy.

"Maybe so I could meet you. Do you believe in fate?"

Fate isn't real... It'd suck if we had no control of our lives. Humans have strange beliefs.

"This encounter has made me believe. Do you want to get out of here? I have a room at a nearby inn." I whispered, breathing down her frail neck.

"Sure."

It wasn't too shabby for my first time. I actually got a female interested, but I am a prince. I do look handsome. At least, I've been told so by my sisters and females of visiting castles. My hair does look good long, and my eyes are like crystals. I love the smoothness and paleness of my skin. Whoops. I turned narcissistic for a minute, but can you blame me?

Fae was holding onto my hand, which would usually cause me to smash her arm, but I had to resist. I shattered the arm of a princess from another castle when she grew attached. I was fine with the talking, but then she touched me. I didn't have feelings for the princess, so it greatly pissed me off. I saw Fae flinch, as I accidentally squeezed her hand.

"You're holding too tightly, Sanneroal."

"Sorry. I don't realize my own strength sometimes," I replied, loosening my grip. It's hard to hold someone's hand for a long period of time without damaging it.

"It's fine. I can teach you to be gentle."

"Okay."

I swear that females love the idea of "fixing" the man they're dating. Fae can't expect to make a vampire gentle. People should find someone they're compatible with, not someone they'll have to fix. Maybe details that are harmful toward one's self, but not for most things. I'll be rough as I kill her, sucking out all of her blood.

I lured Fae to the inn, leading her in the room. Hex wasn't back, yet. Fae was blushing, thinking this would end differently than it actually would.

I pushed Fae onto one of the beds, as I didn't want to hold her body up when I drunk from her. She was blushing heavily, as I was directly over her. I laid my chest on her breasts, putting my face directly in front of her's. I grinned, making sure she saw my fangs while I stuck them out. Her face turned grim, trying to move back.

"You-you're a vampire?"

"Sanneroal Cruorin Robirak, the first prince of Zerosallow, at your service. By the way, I'm not retarded. Destructive: yes. Unintelligent: no. I finished studying to be ruler immediately after I received the books. I'm just slothful," I lectured, licking my teeth and lips.

"No, no, no. Why are you here?"

Fae was panicking, making small talk to stall. It was a good idea on her part. Screaming wouldn't work, as she'd be dead by then.

"Does it matter? I am. Hixrinas is with me, though he's out."

"How much blood does a vampire drink?" She asked eagerly, though not wanting an answer.

"As much as they please. You won't have anything left."

"Wait! Can you spare me? You could make me a vampire. I'll be yours. I just don't want to die!" Fae frantically begged, starting to tear up.

"I'm sorry, but my fangs don't do that. As you know, vampires can make other vampires if they spare the human. However, Hixrinas and I have a variation from other's toxin. We can't turn others, but we paralyze them. It hurts excruciatingly. You won't move, but you'll feel great pain as you die."

Fae started weeping. I was growing impatient with her quickly.

"Please don't make me suffer. Can you just kill me?"

"Are you kidding me? It's going to be worse than most! I didn't reprimand you for your offenses toward me earlier. Stay still and silent, or it'll get progressively worse. You seem smart, so do as I say."

Fae understood, keeping her mouth shut. I laughed at her, breathing down her neck. Her face was twitching, her eyes trying to look away.

"First, I'll rip off your tongue. You shouldn't have kissed me. Are you okay with this?"

"No! Please don't! I apologize."

I hit her in the face, a red mark forming on her cheek. It swelled, causing an oval the size of a quail egg to form.

"I said to stay silent. Don't respond. Say goodbye to your tongue, but don't actually speak."

Fae nodded, tears rolling from her eyes. I slapped her again, and her face started to swell in yet another place.

"You suck at this. Don't move, either. Listen when I speak, or this will be worse."

I forcibly opened Fae's mouth, reaching in. It was slimy, her tongue trying to fall back in her mouth. I ripped the tongue out, throwing it away. Blood started pooling in her mouth, gargling coming from it.

"I don't want you to choke. How about another kiss?"

Strangely, Fae looked more attractive in a panicked state. I put my mouth with her's, drinking the blood. It was sweet. Hixrinas was right when he said it'd be good warm. Her saliva was mixing with the blood, so I stopped using her mouth as a glass.

"Make sure you keep swallowing your blood and gasping, or else you'll drown."

I flashed her a smirk, Fae's eyes showing her fear.

"Next, you held my hand, so I'm breaking yours. Tell me if you object, though you physically can't."

I held her hand, squishing it. The fingers went limp, the bones crushed within. I let go, letting it fall beside her. I yawned, my eyes drooping.

"I think I'm bored with you. Do you want me to do something before I suck your blood out? This is an actual option, so use your good hand to show me."

Fae put her hand on her throat, symbolizing that she wanted me to kill her quickly. I started laughing hysterically.

"You ARE smart! That'd be your best option, but I refuse. I can refuse if I want, as I am the greediest of my siblings. I want you alive while I drink from you... Can you swallow the blood from your mouth? You're choking."

I drank from her mouth to ensure she wouldn't die without feeling the pain and paralysis of my fangs. After it was sufficiently drained, I moved to her neck. I was sick of standing, so I collapsed on her. I drove my fangs in, biting with my other teeth as well. It'd be faster if I made more punctures.

Fae's body froze, as she fell under my paralysis. I switched between her mouth and throat, as she couldn't swallow the blood herself. The saliva didn't annoy me after a while. I breathed air through her lungs whenever I was at the mouth, as she couldn't breathe herself. The organs still functioned, though.

At the neck, I sucked as much blood as I could. I was extremely deprived. Fae's blood was amazing, so I lucked out. After a while, I stayed at the neck. She died, so there was no point in going to the mouth. I would occasionally stop to gasp for air, but I'd go back right after. I couldn't believe I'd never tried it warm before, as it heated up my insides, which felt good.

After I drank all of Fae's blood, I threw the corpse in the bath. My person felt hot. I washed my face, then I was ready to do it again. I was still thirsty, and I thought I could get another woman.
