Chapter 21: Eternal Silence

Duvirnon led us through his room, and we ended back up in his dining room. I sat at one end of the table, relaxing while Ruin sat on my lap. Hex sat beside me, and Fall sat beside him.

Duvirnon was in another room, coming back with a bottle of wine and four glasses. He poured the maroon liquid into the glasses, placing one in front of each of us. After, he took a seat at the other end of the table and faced me.

"Hello, once again. What are you here for, Prince Sanneroal?" Duvirnon questioned, taking a sip from his glass. To my amazement, Ruin wasn't acting up and was sitting with little movement. It relieved me, as I likely looked like an ass last time.

"I was planning on departing soon. Preferably today. I'd like to have some men."

"How many would you like?"

I sat in thought, placing my hand on my chin. I took a sip of my glass, setting it back down with an answer in my mind.

"First, how many men do you have here?" I asked, my hands resting on the table.

"Around two-hundred."

"I'd like fifty, then."

"I'll give them to you. Do you want anyone in particular?" Duvirnon questioned.

I glanced to my side at Hex and Fall, wanting to see how they acted in this setting. They didn't make any eye contact, focused on Duvirnon and me. Hex took sips of his drink occasionally, while Fall didn't look very interested in her's.

"I just need strong men. How many here can resist the sun?"

"Only two aren't affected like you and Prince Hixrinas. There are about thirty more who can stay for a few minutes, but they burn before too long. The rest can't go into the sun or they'll die right away."

"I'd like those two and the thirty resisters. For the rest, can I receive the most powerful?" I asked, taking another sip of wine.

"Yes. Would you like anything else?"

"No. That should be fine."

After a few seconds of silence, Duvirnon cleared his throat to show he was about to speak.

"Where would you like me to send the men? I can't let them follow you, as it'd be too dangerous. They'll travel at a slower pace away from each other so they won't all be wiped out. Once they've all reached the town you'll be in, you can begin to give them orders."

"I don't know the land here," I said, and I turned to Hex. "Hixrinas, do you have a suggestion of where we should head?"

"The best town would be Denalivol. It's a few towns away from here, but it's not too far," Hex told, taking a sip of wine and observing Duvirnon and me for reactions.

"That sounds good," I told, turning back to Duvirnon. "Does that work?"

"Yes. I'll send them after a day or two of your leaving."

"Thank you. I appreciate this. I'm not sure how to repay you."

"You don't need to. I insist that you don't repay me. You're the first prince, so it's my obligation to help you," Duvirnon sternly responded, so I accepted it. "Now, is there anything else you'd like?"

"No. That should be all."

"I see," Duvirnon muttered, turning his attention to Fall and smiling. "Are you leaving with them, Tifenallow?"

She was about to speak up, her mouth opening slightly, but Hex motioned her not to, so she sat back and shut her mouth. I didn't like that, but I didn't want to reprimand him in front of Duvirnon. Ruin saw my annoyance, kissing my cheek and holding onto me with a little more force.

"She's leaving with me," Hex answered for her, staying formal. Duvirnon looked shocked since he didn't let her speak, especially because I allow Ruin to do most of what she pleases.

"Well, good luck. I'm sure you'll be missed by a lot of vampires here, Tifenallow. I'll be back in a moment. Please excuse me," Duvirnon told Fall, ignoring that Hex answered for her. He stood up, pacing to another room.

Fall turned to Hex, whispering into his ear. I listened in, curious of what they speak about.

"Hex, can I please speak? I used to speak regularly since I'm the eleventh strongest here. It feels wrong to leave without saying anything," Fall told Hex, almost begging.

"No. I'll speak for you."

"Please, Hixrinas."

"I said no, so stop asking," Hex aggressively demanded, kissing her so she'd stop. When he separated, Fall still wanted to speak.

"Hixrinas, I love you, but I'm begging you to let me speak. It's just for today. Not even today. Just for right now."

"Stop it. Stop asking, Tifenallow," Hex snapped, turning from her and taking a sip from his glass.

I was pissed, so I slammed my fist on the table and caught their attention. Hex scowled at me, annoyed as is.

"Hex, let her speak. Stop being an asshole. This isn't how you treat someone you love," I huffed, my eyes shooting daggers at him.

"I'm doing as I please. This isn't your business, so leave me alone. I don't demand you to stop Ruin from talking, so stop demanding that I let Fall speak."

"That's not a good response. You're tainted by our brothers. This isn't a healthy relationship."

"And I'm sure the sex-crazed one you have with Ruin is fine," Hex responded, smirking and refusing to look in my direction.

"My relationship is fine. It's yours that's unstable. Are you happy, Fall?"

Fall was about to respond but stopped when she looked at Hex. He was steaming, and his eyes showed his fury.

"She's fine! Shut your freaking hole and leave me alone!" Hex shouted, his teeth and hands clenched. "Make silence loom over this soul! Sew up the mouth and freeze the tongue! Remove the will to speak and utter! Silence for eternity! I command you!"

With the creation of a new spell, my mouth wouldn't open. I tried to break out but realized it wouldn't work. I used up a good portion of my energy, deeply breathing out of my nose when I grew tired. Enraged, I stood up and walked to Hex, slamming my fist on the table and pointing at my mouth.

"What's wrong, Sin? Can't you speak? Now, leave me alone and take a seat. Stop bugging me," Hex said in a way that suggested it was an order.

I grabbed his throat, forcing him to stand. When I let go, he gasped for air and looked stunned. I pointed at my mouth again, annoyed by my lack of words.

"I'm not... releasing the spell," Hex wheezed, regulating his breathing. "You won't... do anything to me... whether I do or don't."

I began clenching my fist, punching toward his stomach. I stopped right before the hit landed, angry that I wanted to hit him. After, I furiously scratched at my head, walking to a wall and slamming my face into it until I started bleeding. Hex walked from behind me, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Cut it out, Sin. You always do this."

I turned my face to him, glaring and feeling rage. I stomped my foot on the ground, trying to figure out what to do since I couldn't talk. My hands grasped his clothes, shaking him back and forth without another option. I didn't want to hurt him, so I figured I could annoy him.

"Stop shaking me," Hex growled, pulling my arm off his clothes and backing away.

I was about to tackle him to the ground and pin him down until he released the spell, but Ruin walked up to me. She kissed my cheek, trying to calm my nerves.

"You'll regret hurting your brother. He can't silence you forever. Well, I doubt he will. Let's sit down and wait for the atmosphere to die down."

I nodded, exhaling and traveling to my seat. I sat, and Ruin placed herself on my lap. I was about to kiss her, and she leaned in as well, but I couldn't do anything but make lip contact. It was slightly awkward, as she dabbed my lips with her tongue before realizing I couldn't open my mouth. I slumped my back, holding her with nothing better to do.

Hex sat down, muttering expletives while grabbing at his glass. He furiously guzzled the wine down, taking Fall's and quickly downing her's. He gave her glass back, but she didn't seem to care that it was empty. He was completely angry, all of his slight movements showing it with their aggressive speed and sharpness.

Fall scooted her chair closer to Hex to calm him, and he forcefully grabbed and kissed her. She looked like butter in his arms, accepting everything Hex did to her. He lifted her up and placed her on his right thigh, pushing her body against his. Her breasts flattened against his muscular chest. Hex groped at her thighs, and she looked uncomfortable while he was pleased. He slowly moved his hands to her ass, and she flinched before mellowing down.

When Duvirnon's footsteps began to come back, Hex swiftly moved Fall from off of him and sat here er down. He scooted up to the table, tidying his clothing and hair.

Duvirnon strolled back in, gasping when he saw the scene. A sword within a black sheath was in his hands, and he set it down on the table. After, he took a seat and stared in disbelief.

"Prince Sanneroal, what happened while I was away? I'm sure you know, but your head is bleeding."

I sat in thought, wondering what to do. It was extremely rude not to respond, but I couldn't. I sent burst after burst of my energy toward breaking the spell, but it didn't work. I grew tired, slouching and placing my hand over my face.

"Hixrinas placed a spell of eternal silencing on him. He can't speak," Ruin explained, looking at me sorrowfully.

Duvirnon turned to Hex, appearing confused.

"Why did you do that to Prince Sanneroal?"

"It's our own business. I'd like you to stay out of it," Hex snapped, shocking Fall, Ruin and me. I glared at him, annoyed that he was being rude to someone helping us out. Duvirnon was angry, turning back to me.

"I shouldn't say this as Prince Hixrinas' lower, but I can as yours. Do you need to reprimand him? I have a room for torture and punishments if you'd like to use it," Duvirnon told me with extreme seriousness.

Hex chuckled, finding humor in the idea of me punishing him. Fed up with him, I nodded in agreement. Hex stared at me, and his eyes widened.

"You can't be serious, Sin. I know you won't hurt me."

I intensely stared at him, and he scowled and sat back with disbelief since I was serious. Fall looked fearful for Hex, putting her hand on Hex's thigh for him to slap it off.

I grew angry enough to try and break free again, firing off burst after burst of my energy. Even after I felt warn, I continued and started going faster. I felt my shackles slip, so I gave one more burst and opened my mouth. I heaved in exhaustion, clearing my throat now that I could use it again.

"Hixrinas, don't think I'm just going to keel over when you've done this to me," I told, clenching my teeth. Hex's pupils shook in the whites, and he was baffled.

"H-How did you break free? That was an unbreakable spell. How the hell did you break through it?!"

"I'm stronger than you, Hex. You'll never understand how my strength works."

I stood up, moving over to him and grabbing his hair. Hex stood, turning back to me and looking fearful. I faced Duvirnon, moving my grip on Hex to the collar of his robe.

"Where am I heading? I apologize for my brother's behavior. I am greatly thankful for all you've done. He hasn't been like this for long, but I will take care of this," I said, ashamed of Hex. He was trying to get away from my grasp, but I held tighter and glared at him. He backed down, angrily giving up.

"You don't need to apologize. I understand. Go to the first floor and head to the orange door."

"Thank you for all you've done."

I yanked Hex with me, motioning Fall and Ruin to follow. Once we'd gotten outside, Hex pushed me away and stood in front of me. Fall went beside him, unsure of what she should do. Ruin was staying back from me, as she could tell that I was pissed.

"I'm going to my room to shower and prepare to leave," Hex told, acting as if he was off the hook.

"No, you aren't. You're coming with me. You embarrassed me in front of Duvirnon when he's trying to help us. You also messed with me which isn't okay in the slightest. Listen to what I say, Hixrinas."

"You don't understand yourself, do you? You were yelling at me for making Fall do what I wish since I love her, but what are you doing to me currently? You're telling me to listen, and I tell her to listen," Hex cockily remarked, smirking and starting to walk away.

I grabbed onto his collar, tugging him to me. I stared him in the eyes, spitting on his face. He wiped it off, angry with me.

"I DO understand myself! I allow you to do so much, but you went too far! You don't even let Fall speak! You must respect me! I demand it! I tell you to listen when you act like a fool!" I shouted, and Hex looked toward the ground. I started thinking, and I felt guilty. "This is partially my fault. I didn't teach you all that I should have. I could've if I wasn't in my room, so this is on my head. But I need to take initiative and punish you. I never have, so I think it'll be for the best."

"Please don't, Sin," Hex begged, looking terrified.

"I'm sorry."

I sent Ruin and Fall to our rooms, then took Hex with me to the first floor. Hex was frantic, and I was extremely plagued by remorse for the past.
