Confrontation
"The blood moon chose us," Marco said, cocking his head to the side. "Besides, you don't exactly own her." He pushed her behind himself, guiding her with the hand still resting on her waist. He blocked her with his body, protective and gentle, as Tom approached the couple. He was quite literally turning into a flame of pure anger and hatred, especially for the demon who had taken his "girl".
"That...that....I BROUGHT HER HERE!!!!" Tom's hair stood on end, his eyes shifting to a bright and intimidating red, fire starting to rise up around him. In a flurry of burnt party favors and tablecloths, he blew up into a ball of fire.
"TOM! I'm right here!!! And Marco is right, I don't belong to you anyways!" Star protested, her indignation apparent.
Tom heard her. He became even angrier. Star had actually sided with Marco. She actually sided with someone who she had just met. Tom and Star had a history. They had a relationship. He even had a cute nickname for her. What in the world is a cuter name than Starship?
Marco saw Tom's anger and instinctively pushed her back farther. And when he was turned around, Tom blasted him in the back pushing his body over Stars. As Marco fell over her, his hat was knocked off, and his hair loosened and fell all over his face. Star was pinned under him from the fall, their faces closer than they had ever been before, even while dancing. And Marco did something he would never have thought of in a million years.
Marco pulled her in for a kiss.
Star's heart soared, a deep swooping feeling coming from within her chest, rising higher and higher and higher, its wings a beautiful menagerie of colors and the most pleasant of feelings, when Tom crashed down on the two of them, hitting Marco's side, almost burning a hole in his side. Though he took the brunt of the blow, a part of Star's dress started to smolder, and a little burn mark appeared on her leg.
And Marco stumbled up to his feet. His eyes began to glow as he saw Star's injury. They grew more intense until they were a bright white color. Undaunted, Tom rushed forward, completely enraged, his crimson fire burning the air between himself and Marco.
"A fight? Good." Marco grinned, his hands lighting up with a blue flame, and started to speed up as he intercepted the prince. And as he ran, the dark navy inferno turned into a white ball of energy, crackling and intense. He hit the wall and launched himself over at Tom with a karate style kick across his face. Marco bounced off of the prince and hit the ground. If he had turned around from his decent any slower, he would have been too slow to deflect the fireball that came barreling towards him.
Right after, Tom sent one of the tables, that was now in flames barreling towards Marco, who cracked the table in half like a stack of boards.
The ugly jerk at the punch table seemed overjoyed at this violent development. He was screaming and swinging his cup of liquid, sloshing it all over his face. Star couldn't believe the amount that he and a couple of his friends could make such a ridiculous cacophony. It really was starting to stress her out. If, you know, the two demons fighting over her and almost destroying the building wasn't enough.
This was enough distraction and time for Star to finally compose herself, and regain her footing. She followed their bodies as they crossed the dance floor until she finally yelled,
"STOP!!!"
And froze both of them with her wand.
