Chapter 16

Rachel's POV

Twirling my pasta on my fork, I glanced at the guy in front of me. He was literally wolfing down his food like some sort of animal. But then again, he is a snob. He must have noticed me staring, because he lifted his head to look at me. He gave me an angelic smile, despite all the food he had on his face. I couldn't help but smile in return.

"Isn't this delicious?" he said with his mouth full. I wrinkled my nose in disgust.

"You do realize this is a 5 star restaurant?" I raised an eyebrow to him. He nodded his head with wide eyes, like a little kid. Pointing my fork at him, I said "Well at least behave a little. You look like you haven't had a decent meal for a while."

He smirked at me and pointed his fork at me, like I did to him. "You didn't answer my question," he lowered his fork and continued eating. I huffed at his question and looked down at my spaghetti.

Glaring at him, I finally replied, " Hate to admit it, but this food is quite good."

He grinned like an idiot. "Finally I get to witness you complimenting something. This is definitely a new achievement. I'm proud," he said while he ate.

"Not like I needed to compliment it anyway," I rolled my eyes. This guy was getting on my nerve. I couldn't even enjoy my meal in peace. I was about to eat again when something else decided to interrupt me.

My phone.

It vibrated in my pocket and I took it out. I was about to answer it when I heard a slight coughing and looked at Jhope, who just shook his head. "Where are your manners? You're not supposed to be on your phone when dining," he said with a frown.

I rolled my eyes again at him. "Says the guy who eats like a pig," I glared at him. We had a short staring contest before I finally excused myself to the restroom. Jhope look at me in disapproval as I went, and went back to eating. I grunted and cursed under my breath.

What the hell was wrong with that guy? Can't he just leave me alone?

In the restroom, I quickly answered the call. I instantly regretted that when my eardrum was greeted with a loud scream.

Me: What the hell, Krista?

Krista: You're asking me what the hell? You've been dining with Jhope when we have a mission to complete! I can't-

Levi: Let me handle this Krista. Listen, Rachel. We're just here to remind you to be careful. We think he might a little bit psychotic.

Me: Wow. I didn't think you guys would be calling to tell me to be careful.

Krista: Actually we don't. I care about Jhope, not you. Get your facts right. All I'm saying is that youre-

Levi: KRISTA! I told you to behave.

Krista: Whatever. Just get Jhope here.

I quickly pressed the end call button on my phone and restrained myself from throwing my phone out of frustrations. I would rather be in the accompany of that snobbish boy than that asshole Krista any day. Taking deep breathes, I reminded myself to keep my calm posture. Looking at the mirror, I frown at my reflection. My hair was a mess, a result from my frustration, and face red from anger.

I sighed softly, Turning on the tap, I splashed water, hoping to cool myself down a bit. I looked at my phone was again. Annoyed, I turned off both my phone and my wristwatch, our emergency communication device.

Try doing the mission yourself and see what happens.

My grip on the sink was strong, making my knuckles turn white from the lack of blood. Krista was always making me so irritated and frustrated. Who the hell does she think she is? Bossing me around like she's leader of this whole mission.

I was lost in my thoughts for a while, until something made me go back to reality. The sound of glass shattering and people screaming. My face paled and eyes widen instantly. What the hell was that? My mind wouldn't comprehend the situation properly and only had one thing on it.

Jhope

I rushed to the dining hall, silently praying that Jhope was okay. I stopped dead in my track when I saw it. I couldn't really process what was happening, and so was everyone else. People were gathering at the table where Jhope was, looking terrified. I scanned Jhope from head to toe; red face, veins on his neck were showing, hands covered in dark red liquid and shards of glass left marks on his shoes. He had gone berserk and decided to create a scene.

I quickly went to Jhope, trying to calm him down at least a bit. I took away the broken shards from his grip and slowly patted his back, whispering him comforting words. His shoulders relaxed a bit and I let out a sigh of relief. Jhope turned his head to me, and I was honestly shocked to see his pleading eyes. A scared waiter came near us, and cleared his throat. At first, I was utterly confused by his presence, but when he gestured to our surrounding, it all became crystal clear. Fumbling with my purse, I took out my checkbook and gave him an apologetic smile.

" I'm so sorry. I'm sure he didn't mean that," I took out a pen from my purse. " Here's a check. I think that should cover the cost," I wrote out a huge sum of money on the paper and handed to him.

Saying sorry once again, I dragged Jhope with me outside the restaurant. He kept his head down and was completely silent the whole walk. Finally, he slowly opened his mouth. "Where are we going?" he still didn't dare to look at me in the eye.

"A hospital." He yanked his hand out of mine when he heard my answer. Staring into his eyes, I saw the rage burning in it. He was gritting his teeth and he struggled to speak.

"I can't go there!"

"Why?"

"For God's sake. I'm a f.cking missing person! I can't be going to places like that. I'm not ready for the police to find me. Not yet," he turned away.

"But you're injured. We need to fix that," I tried grabbing his hand again.

"NO!" he shoved me, hard. I fell flat on my butt.

Turning around, he tried running away from me. However, the injuries he suffered was slowing him down. Sighing, I stood up and dusted my pants before sprinting towards him. I was just about to reach him when a car speed past me, stopping right beside Jhope. The tyres of a luxurious Lamborghini screeched, surprising Jhope who slightly flinched. I saw the ghost of a smile on his face as he opened the door to the vehicle. Turning to me, he gave a small smile, as if he was apologizing.

"Sorry Girly, I'm just a bad boy."

And with that, he slam the door shut. The car sped off, leaving me in his smoke. I was left in a coughing fit, the dust making it hard for me to breathe. Fanning my face, I stared into the distance, instantly regretting not able to see the license plate. But then again, I didn't remember about the goddamn license plate anyway.

I started spurting out profanities, gaining weird looks from people around me. Clenching my hands, I started blaming myself for my idiocy.  My visions slowly became blurry, which confused me at first, until I felt the warm liquid trickling down my cheeks. Dropping to my knees, I started crying with my hands covering my face.

I couldn't care less about how I look. All that matters is that I lost Jhope.

I failed the mission.

~

I wandered around mindlessly, without no exact destination. I haven't even realize it was already late, and I was still on the streets. Sighing, I started looking for a place to stay, hopefully for a few days. I wasn't really up to seeing Krista right now, especially what happened with Jhope. Thankfully, I managed to find a hotel. I entered it and the girl at the reception raised an eyebrow.

"Do you have any vacant rooms?"

"I'm sorry miss, but the hotel is fully booked for a private event."

"I'm willing to pay any amount. Just give me the biggest suite you have. And I want it close to the swimming pool if possible." I handed her my credit card, technically Danielle's but I don't think she would be needing it at the moment anyway.

The girl sighed and quickly dialed the phone, most probably calling the manager. She was talking in a hushed tone so I couldn't really make out any words. A few minutes later, her lips were pressed tightly together, forming a line and nodded before ending the call. Sighing, she took my card.

" I can get you a room, but on one condition."

"Okay. What is it?"

"If you are caught interrupting anyone or the event, you will be kicked out immediately." she said with a stern voice. I nodded.

"How many nights?"

I made a peace sign, indicating for two nights. Two nights should be enough for Krista to cool down, right? The girl nodded and quickly typed in her computer. After signing a few documents, she handed my key card and my credit card. I thanked her and went straight to my room.

To say the room was beautiful was an understatement. It was beyond gorgeous. I wonder how much this room costs anyway. My room was huge and was well furnished. My eyes quickly scanned the whole room and finally landed on the big king size bed in the middle of the room. Totally what I needed right now, sleep. I jumped on the bed, sighing in relief. Sleep was about to overtake me, when I realized I don't have any spare clothes and it was already too late to buy any new ones.

I pondered on a suitable solution to my small problem, and lot liking the outcome much. Sighing, I decided it was best to ask Levi to send my clothes over, even if it meant Krista would know my whereabouts. My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I quickly took it out. The phone screen lit up, showing me the numbers of missed call and messages I had. All from one person.

Krista. I quickly opened my phone and read the messages.
