Ch. 7 Home Is Where The Heart Is
"Hold on to me." Jimin said offering her the crook of his arm to hold on to.
Sua stood up cautiously and linked her arm through his. Another hand slipped though her other hand gripping it firmly.
She looked up at Taehyung who flashed her his boxy grin. "Let's Go." He said happily walking with her.
They had somehow managed to convince her to take a walk on the estate. Sua had hesitated considering that she hadn't completely recovered yet. But they had lured her out with the promise of sunshine and fresh air with flowers unlike any she had ever seen before. She had relented which had brought her here in this pretty meadow where the two brothers had organized a beautiful picnic for her. They had eaten, played, shared stories and laughed for hours.
The sun had started to set over the horizon when Jimin had announced that they should head back to the main house. After hours of sitting and lying around on the hard ground, Sua had found her legs were wobbly and she was unsure if she could stand.
Now, holding on to the two boys she had barely known for a week but felt like she had known them all her life, she walked slowly back to the house feeling happy and content.
She looked up at Jimin. He was so beautiful, so pure and he gave the best hugs she thought. Jimin must've felt her eyes on him because he suddenly turned to her.
He winked. Her breath hitched and her eyes widened. He laughed, his giggly laughter made her heart flutter.
"Stop it, Jiminie." Taehyung warned.
"What?" He asked innocently.
Sua looked away her cheeks burning at how obviously he affected her. Embarrassed to know that he knew exactly what he was doing and how it made her feel.
Taehyung glared at Jimin.
"She's just so cute." Jimin answered shrugging.
"You're embarrassing her, Jimin-ah"
"What? No....." Jimin looked at her questioningly.
Sua turned away trying to hide the redness of her cheeks she was sure was still visible.
"Yah! Sua-ya. Don't hide from me. You know its all just fun, right?" he asked worried she might be offended by his behavior.
Sua ignored him, concentrating on walking properly and avoiding any loose rocks on the ground.
"Yah!" Jimin called again.
But Sua still ignored him so he stopped. Sua just slipped her hand off his and held on to Taehyung tighter as she continued to walk ahead.
"Yah!" Jimin called again stomping his foot but holding his ground.
Sua looked up at Taehyung and winked. Tae held back his smile as they both continued ahead.
"YAH!!" Jimin called almost screaming now.
They couldn't hold it in any longer and both of them threw back their heads laughing at Jimin who was fuming. He ran over to them punching Tae lightly on his arm and throwing the other arm around her shoulders as he pulled her closer joining in their laughter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The days passed by in a blur. It was almost two weeks since she had woken up in their infirmary and she couldn't find a single time in her life when she had been happier than she was now.
These boys, she thought fondly. They had become her whole world in just a matter of days. No matter how busy they all were taking care of their "business" each and every one of them made sure to come talk to her at least once every day.
Joon had surprised her the most. She had been a little wary of him in the beginning. He too, always kept his distance, talking only when he needed to and even then he would speak very formally and to the point. That was until he had come home late one night limping.
He had collapsed on the sofa unable to walk any further and that is where Sua had found him when she had gotten up and come down to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water, he was sweaty and his face had been twisted in pain.
He had sprained his ankle but hadn't wanted to disturb his brothers. Sua had cared for him that night. Icing his leg and heating up some of the leftovers she had found in the fridge for him to eat. She had even helped him up the stairs to his room, helping him wash up, change his clothes and settle into bed.
She had also remembered to place a glass of water on the bedside table for him along with painkillers.
The whole incident had softened him finally showing Sua the soft and loving side of his personality.
Since then, Namjoon had then taken it upon himself to make sure Sua didn't lack for anything. He had taken her to a nearby village to buy her clothes so she didn't have to keep using their old sweats that were all too big for her. He always asked her if she needed anything whenever he stepped out of the house. When he had discovered her love for nature and gardening, he had joined her in the garden whenever it was possible for him to do so, always planting new flowers, tending to the roses even sharing his gardening tools and gloves with her.
Even Yoongi had accepted her as a part of their family. He was mostly brooding and quiet but she was surprised at how caring and loving he truly was. He would always make sure she was comfortable and even slipped her extra pieces of meat when he thought she wasn't looking. They also bonded quietly over their love for music. They spent many evenings jamming together. She played the guitar or the violin and he played the piano.
He had been hesitant to let her into the studio at first, not trusting her with the instruments even after she had told him that she had learned how to play string instruments professionally and that she had even played the cello in an orchestra in Berlin. It was only after he had been struggling with one particular piece that he had reluctantly listened to her opinion.
"A violin would add a great depth to this song." She had muttered one afternoon, wistfully looking at the music sheet put up on his piano, when she had come in to bring him his lunch.
"Show me" he had said watching her face brighten as if he had just told her that Christmas had come early.
She had struggled at first, not having so much as touched the instrument in the last 2 years, but her fingers had remembered more than her brain had. No longer had she closed her eyes than the music had flowed through her fingers. Yoongi had stared at her with his mouth hanging open.
"Play it again." Was all he had said turning to the piano and making his own magic with it.
Jimin joined them sometimes, adding vocals to their music. His voice was very sweet and made her melt. Taehyung would sing too, his deep voice hit her straight in the heart. Jin, had an exceptionally good trained voice like that of a professional. Joon, Yoongi and Hobi could rap better than most of the famous artists she had heard in the US.
She was astonished at how talented they all were.
"You should hear Jungkookie, sometime" Jin had said one time when she had been unable to control the string of praises that had escaped her after she had heard him sing in the kitchen.
"I doubt he's better than you." She had offered. She knew enough about the youngest member by now to know that everyone just loved him too much and missed him every day. He was travelling for his business for almost a month now. They were all extremely proud of him and spoke of him often.
"Oh! he is. His voice is just.... I can't explain it. All I can say is there isn't a single note in this world our Golden Maknae cannot hit." He had announced proudly.
"How are you all so good at this?" she had asked exasperated after one of their rare group jamming sessions.
"We were all housed in the same... how do you say? A halfway house of sorts maybe?" Namjoon had tried to explain. "Jin's mother would come in twice a week to teach us music, as a form of remission, you know? We bonded over music. It was a way to escape all the shit we had been through. All of us made sure we never missed a single session. Jungkook-ah could've been a prodigy if Mrs. Kim hadn't been....." his voice trailed off but she hadn't pressed noticing the pain in his voice. So they were all musical, she realised.
Jin had given her a wonderful room to herself on the top floor of the house. Hobi had helped her settle in, bringing her new clothes and other toiletries, even a few pieces of jewelry and cosmetics. When she had looked at him in surprise, he had shrugged and said "Just want you to feel at home here"
And so, life went on, on the estate that was Jin's inheritance from his mother. It comprised of a three storied main house with sixteen rooms, a library bigger than the one at her uni, a kitchen most chefs in the world would kill to have and a pool with a pool house. The garden was something Joon had added after they had moved in. The whole estate was much bigger, than she had imagined, encompassing of a small hill, a grove and even a pond.
She mostly spent her days cooking for the boys, who put away surprising amounts of food in a single seating. They especially enjoyed her fried chicken and spicy pork with rice noodles. Watching them eat had become her new favourite thing. A full family dinner was a sight to behold. They ate with such passion, feeding each other, talking loudly with big gestures and making sure Sua always had the biggest share of everything. It filled her heart with so much satisfaction when they would reach for second or even third helpings. Even a humble instant ramyeon would elicit a "Mashita" from the brothers. The first time she had made fried chicken, Jimin had cried and Tae had come kissed her hands in reverence. They were nothing if not overdramatic, she remembered happily.
There was always someone giving her company. Jin in the kitchen, Joon or Hobi in the garden, Yoongi in the office or the music room.
Jimin and Tae always came to her room at night and they spent time talking about their day, teasing and laughing with each other.
She never felt lonely or isolated anymore in spite of being cut off from the rest of the world, she was content.
Where Jimin and Tae had become her best friends, Joonie, Jin, Yoongi and Hobi had become her brothers. All of them cared for her, showing her so much affection that she never thought about leaving anymore. The life she had before them just seemed to have vanished from her memories.
They let wander around the estate freely but she was never allowed to go near the fences or the gates. It was out of bounds. Not that she wanted to escape anymore. There was nowhere for her to go. Her life was here now. With these beautiful, loving men who had shown her what it meant to really be a part of a family, even if you weren't related by blood.
All in all, she felt she like had finally found her place in the world. Here, with this gang of good-looking bad boys with their heart of gold, was where she truly belonged.
