"I don't get it. Why can't you just tell me the truth?"

"I'm already telling you the truth!" Jungkook raised his voice at you.

"She doesn't look like a friend to me. Why would she have her hands all over you if she's just a friend?" You debated, crossing your arms over your chest.

"I can't just abruptly shove her away, that's plain rude. Besides, she's a friend and I don't wish to hurt her, okay?!" Jungkook started getting frustrated, huffing a heavy sigh.

There was a loud silence in the living room. You were staring back at Jungkook who was sitting across you on the other couch. The intense atmosphere made you feel like running off elsewhere to release some stress, but you thought it was better to settle things right then and there.

Little did you know, it only lead to the worse.

It hadn't been a good afternoon. In fact, the past few days hadn't been too great between you and your boyfriend.

You and Jungkook barely talked. When you're free, he's busy and when he has plenty of time, you're always caught up with something. You both got quite distant after awhile.

It was slowly killing you because he started forgetting to kiss you before he leaves for work, he stopped giving you backhugs as you prepared dinner and he no longer said any cheesy pick up lines to you anymore.

You craved for his love, but he never really realised it. You started to wonder, whether he still loves you as much as you do and you always thought that he had someone else to pour out his love to.

One day, you took a day off work to fetch Jungkook after his dance practice. You thought it would be great to bring him out for dinner as it had been a long time since you both ate out together.

Unfortunately, you caught sight of a female dancer, walking out of the building with Jungkook and she was laughing at whatever joke he made while flirtatiously hitting his shoulder, repeatedly. What made you even more displeased was that Jungkook looked as if he was pretty comfortable with her. That night, you ended up making your way home alone, cancelling the reservation you made at a restaurant.

You decided to confront him about the matter on that particular afternoon, but he doesn't seem to be in a good mood, neither were you. Your thoughts were all over as you sat and stared at him, and you were even wondering what was he thinking about.

"Why are you so sensitive at times?" He suddenly spoke, almost whispering in a rather harsh tone.

"Excuse me?"

"Look at you. You overthink, way too much," he retorted.

"So do you want me to not care, or think about you?" You quirked an eyebrow. "Then, why not we just end the relationship here since there's no point of it?"

You saw Jungkook's eyes widen for a split second, but his ego got the best of him. "Well, let's break up."

Your heart instantly sank to your stomach when you heard those words slip out of his mouth. You scanned his face, hoping he'd change his mind in a second, but there wasn't even a sign of hesitation on his expressions.

You realised it was stupid of you to even suggest splitting up in the first place.

Tears unknowingly welled up in your eyes. You paused, trying to let your mind process the words he had just said to you, but you wished you didn't hear a thing. Mustering up some courage in you, you blinked repeatedly to stop the tears from falling. You thought you were the stronger one, or atleast, could be.

"Alright," you said, your voice unshaking.

With that, he didn't even take one last glance at you as he grabbed his car keys, stomping out of the apartment, leaving you alone.

It's been a month since Jungkook left you in a weeping mess. Despite many attempts trying to forget about him, it was almost impossible for you because anything and everything reminded you of Jungkook, especially when you're living in the small apartment which you used to share with him.

The apartment seemed so cold since Jungkook left. Each day, you anticipate a text or call from him and you'd ended up in a false hope whenever your phone rings, receiving calls and messages from everyone else but him.

You missed how he'd hug you whenever you're down. You missed seeing him smile, how he laughs at your little silliness. You missed his touch, you missed him serenading you to sleep every night.

You thought you and your fragile heart could get through everything. You tried convincing yourself that everything will be alright. You thought everything will be fine, as long as you're hurting alone.

What you didn't know was that Jungkook was suffering as much as you were. He'd remain cooped up in his room at the dorms. He would skip his meals and only came out of his room if his members had pester him, but he wouldn't last more than five minutes out of his room.

He repeatedly made mistakes during dance practices and got scolded so often. He was so distracted. He barely could get you off his mind.

Jungkook and his members took a break after a good three hours of dance practice. He sat alone at a corner of the dance studio, gulping down some water.

"I think it's time you forget about her," Namjoon said to Jungkook, sitting beside him as he slid an arm around the depressed young man. "It's for your sake."

Jungkook sighed, biting his tongue to stop himself from outburst.

"I don't know, hyung. She misunderstood me, and it's unfair. I shouldn't be apologising for something I didn't do wrong," Jungkook said to Namjoon as calm as possible..

"You still love her?" Namjoon asked. Jungkook didn't need to ponder, he immediately nodded his head. "Then, do something to fix it. Go talk to her. If she still loves you as much, I doubt she'd push you away."

Jungkook simply shrugged, holding back his tears. "Thanks hyung," he gave Namjoon a faint smile, "I'll think about it."

One night when you had just have a refreshing shower after a long day at work, you came to your closet to choose something comfortable to wear to sleep. Just then, your eyes caught sight of a familiar blue shirt in a corner of your closet. You grabbed it, feeling a lump in your throat. It was one of Jungkook's shirt that you liked most, and he let you keep it. You inhaled the fragrance of the shirt that still had the faint scent of his cologne, feeling your heart thump heavily at the thought of him.

You wore that shirt for the night with a pair of your favourite pyjama pants. You climbed onto bed, before you started thinking of him again while staring blankly up at the ceiling.

Knock, knock.

Your heart skipped a beat as you heard knockings on the door to your apartment, wondering who would come to visit you when it was almost midnight. You walked out of the room and heard the knockings became louder as you approached the door.

You slightly creaked open the door, taken by surprise to see Jungkook standing before you. Your eyes widened, staring at him for seconds before you opened the door wider.

"Hey," You sounded calm, although your heart was beating like mad.

Jungkook's gaze met yours, and you swore all you wanted to do was to pull him into a hug, but neither did you know what was stopping you. "You're here to collect your stuffs?" You asked.

"No. I mean– I just," he stuttered, "[Y/N]..."

You shivered at him calling out your name. You realised Jungkook didn't look very well. He had terrible eye bags under his eyes, he looked rather skinny and his hair was quite in a mess. You gulped, feeling worried about his well-being. Your gaze met his, and you realised his eyes were a little watery.

"You wanna come in and talk?" You offered, stepping aside for him to come in and he didnt hesitate to step into the apartment.

You closed the door behind you and followed Jungkook as he walked towards the living room, obviously familiar with the apartment.

He sat at the couch, the exact spot where he last sat before he left you for a good one month.

You sat opposite him, biting your lower lip nervously.

He sighed, before his eyes travelled down to look at the shirt you were wearing. "That shirt you're wearing, it's..."

"Why are you here?" You interrupted him and cursed yourself mentally for wearing his shirt that night.

He pursed his lips into a thin line, before he continued talking, "Alright... I'm sorry. I'm not apologising because I was going out with the girl whom you saw I walked with, but I'm sorry for bickering with you the other day. I shouldn't be too harsh, but really, please believe me when I say that she's nothing more than a friend to me."

"Jungkook," your voice quivered, "Isn't it a bit too late now? You already decided to split ways with me."

"It was stupid of me, we were both just mad and we couldn't think straight. You didn't stop me from leaving either," he said, making you quirk an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry, but why are you making it sound like as if it was my fault?"

"No, listen,–"

"Jungkook," You said, "I'm not ready to speak to you, yet."

You walked up to the door, and Jungkook instantly stood up to follow after you.

"[Y/N], will you please listen to me for once?!"

"Please leave, I just can't–"

You were about to open the door and chase him out of the apartment, but Jungkook got too frustrated at you not listening to his words. He spun you around by your shoulder to face him and his hands swiftly grabbed your waist, pulling you into a hug.

Despite you trying to resist his embrace, he only held you even tighter and you ended up melting in his arms, breaking into tears. You buried your face in his chest, your sobs muffled. He gently planted a kiss on your head, calming you down from your sudden outburst.

After awhile, Jungkook slowly released you and one of his hands left your waist to cup your cheek, wiping your tears away with his thumb.

"Look, I'm really sorry, okay?" He looked into your eyes intently, his voice a little firm. "I've been really insensitive towards you but I just want you to know that, I still love you. I love you, very, very, much."

He brought his forehead to lean against yours. "I know I should've spent more time with you so that misunderstandings like this wouldn't happen."

"I'm sorry too, but I was just really afraid of losing you that I couldn't help all the suspicious within me, especially when we suddenly got so distant."

Jungkook felt bad after hearing that. He immediately pressed his lips against yours, kissing you gently and instantly erasing all the doubts you had of him.

You responded, wrapping your hands around his neck and kissing him back as passionately. You missed the way his lips tasted and finally after so long, feeling his lips on yours made you melt on your feet.

Both of your lips parted momentarily as Jungkook placed a kiss on your forehead. You smiled widely, gazing up at him.

Your heart finally settled at ease after patching back up with Jungkook, and you both promised never to let such misunderstandings happen again.
