"[Y/N]?" A familiar honey-like voice called you. You nervously turned to look at him, flashing a smile. "Hey, why'd you tell me to come here?" He asked.

This was it. You wanted to tell Jungkook everything. You thought you were just developing a mere infatuation, but years passed and you still can't help but fall in love with him more and more.

Jungkook and you were bestfriends since middle school. He's your other half, but you wished he could be more than just a bestfriend to you. You were ready to confess your true feelings for him, in hopes that he feels the same and would accept your love. So you'd tell him to meet you after college at the rooftop, where no one really visits.

You walked towards him with your moistened palms balled into a fist at your sides. "Hey, Jungkook," you said, almost inaudibly as you sucked in a shaky breath.

"Are you alright?" He asked as his beautiful, sparkly eyes looked down into yours.

"I need to tell you something," You clenched your fists tighter as you tried your very best not to break your eye contact with him. Jungkook continued listening to you, never looking away once.

"I just wanna tell you that, you've been a really great bestfriend. You know me really well, and you're an amazing companion to be with. And, I think I don't want to have you just as a bestfriend..." You trailed off, almost regretting your decision but you were already halfway through the confession.

"... I like you."

Jungkook parted his lips in a silent gasp, before he looked elsewhere. You gave a faint smile, but your heart immediately dropped when you realised he didn't return the smile. Instead, he looked guilty.

"God, uh- I'm sorry," You shut your eyes close and sighed, wishing he'd disappear instantly but he still stood there before you, unmoving.

It all must've been too sudden.

"No, it's alright," Jungkook grabbed your hand and held it in his. "Look, I really do love you, and you know that. You've been a great bestfriend for me too. But, [Y/N], I've never felt that way towards you. I'm so sorry, but please don't hate me for this."

Your eyes suddenly got watery as your mind started to get messed up. You stared down at your feet as you got overwhelmed with so much embarrassment. The situation got uncomfortable, and you didn't know how to react, neither did he.

It took all of you to just give him a slight smile, "It's alright, I'm sorry, this is just weird. I made us awkward."

Jungkook pulled you towards him, as he gave you a warm hug. You sighed, you knew his affection was none other than just a friend.

You stepped into the cold apartment, instantly dropping your bag onto the floor and kicking the door shut behind you. Your heart still wounded from the harsh truth - You love him, but he doesn't feel the same. You sighed as tears began to well up to the brim of your eyes. Leaning against the door, you clutched your skirt tightly in your hands, your body began to tremble as your emotions began to overwhelm you. Slow desolate tears ran from your unblinking eyes and rolled down your cheeks.

"[Y/N]?" A voice startled you. You realised your elder brother, Jimin, was home. Instantly, you gulped and dried your watery eyes, ridding all the evidence that showed you were in distress.

"I'm home," You responded to your brother, your voice unshaking.

You kept walking through the hallway until you saw your brother laying comfortably on the couch of the living room, munching on your favourite snack as he watched the television, but you couldn't care less. Usually, you'd be angry at your brother who loves to steal your precious titbits, but you weren't even in the mood to bicker for such a thing.

Jimin looked up at you, beaming brightly, "Hello my beloved little sister, how was college?"

Terrible.

"Great," You simply responded to him before pursing your lips.

His eyebrows furrowed at your soulless response. "Are you that upset that I ate your snacks? I'll get more for you."

You forced out a laugh, "No, it's alright."

Jimin immediately caught on. As your brother, he knew your every emotion and feelings just by looking at your expressions. He sat up, anchoring his attention on your every movement. "[Y/N]," Jimin's voice was gentle, "What happened my dear?"

"What?" You attempted to hide everything from your brother. You knew that he wouldn't let Jungkook off if you told him about it. Jimin could be an over-protective brother at times.

Jimin stood up, walking towards you before he cupped your cheek. His eyes were full of worry as he stared down at you and you felt like bursting into tears again, but you tried all your might to hold everything in as you intensely balled your fists on each of your sides. "Tell me," he said.

"Nothing, I'm fine," you lied, but you knew it was to no use.

"What's there to hide? I'm your brother," Jimin pulled away some strands of hair that fell in your face. His warm touch made your heart felt a little calm, but the terrible pain that Jungkook left you seemed to last a little too long.

You tried to convince yourself that you're strong enough to keep it to yourself. You thought that you're able to get over him, but deep inside you knew yourself better. You loved him, you loved Jungkook.

"I-I don't know," you bit your bottom lip as you looked away from your brother. Jimin quickly pulled you into his embrace by instinct, wrapping his arms tightly around your body. You couldn't get a hold of yourself anymore and eventually buried your face into his chest, hugging him back weakly as you finally decided to vent your emotions to him. Your sobs were stifled at first as you attempted to hide your grief, then they were overcome by the wave of your emotions as you break down entirely, all your defenses washed away in those salty tears.

"Who made you sad?" Jimin questioned you just like he used to when you were both younger and when you would come home from the daycare, crying.

Jimin continued to pacify you as he gently rubbed your back. He planted kisses on your head and kept whispering comforting words like 'It's okay', 'Everything's alright', 'It's all going to be fine'.

You slowly pulled away from him when your crying subsided, wiping the tears that were pouring from your eyes away from your cheeks. Your nose was already very red, your eyes swollen and sore. "I got rejected," you simply told him.

"Who dares to reject my beautiful little sister?" Jimin asked as he gently combed your hair back.

"Well, no one, but Jungkook," You chuckled unhumorously.

Jimin's brows furrowed as his mouth turned grim. "What? How dare he–"

"Please don't," You interrupted your brother who was almost fuming mad, "I know you're always fighting for me, protecting me and all. But please, just not this time. Jungkook didn't do anything wrong, it's not his fault that he doesn't feel the same towards me."

Jimin blinked owlishly as he attentively listened to what you were saying.

"... I'll be fine, I guess. I'll get over him, I promise. Just bear with me being a little emotional for now," You said to your brother.

Jimin sighed, grabbing you by your shoulders. "Listen here," He spoke, "It's alright to lose someone who doesn't love you. This rejection only means that you'll be getting someone better. Stay positive, just remember that I'm always here to listen to you and I love you very much."

"I love you too," Your lips curled up into a smile, "What did I do to deserve such a warm-hearted brother?"

"Well, I'm always very kind towards you," he grinned, ruffling your hair.

"Well," You mocked his voice, "Except for the fact that you're always stealing my snacks, that's not very kind," You said and both of you broke into chuckles.

Jimin placed another kiss to your forehead before he slid an arm around your shoulder, "Alright, enough of crying. Let's go get this little girl some snacks."

You smiled, there's nothing in the world that could replace your one and only beloved brother.
