Ah, Marching Season is almost here... oh who are we kidding? It always seems to be Marching season!

Whether you're just joining this year or coming back as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior-- these are things you will either learn or agree with/remember.

Lets begin!

#1 When you first go to Camp you think "No matter what happened last year, it can't be as bad this year!"

During Camp: "Oh my gosh just kill me already!! .... Has the Director always had those devil horns?"

#2 You are a Freshman. It's 8:00 at night, you're sweaty, you're tired, and you just you wanna go back to your dorm. Suddenly, your Director says "Just one more time!"

All of the Upperclassmen groan while the other Freshmen cheer. Two hours later you are still on the practice field, repeatedly doing the same set.

Freshmen, a little word of advice, "One more time" nearly always NEVER means one more time.

#3 Everyone loves water breaks. Whether they be 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or even 15 minutes. Because you get cool water, sometimes refreshing gatorade, and get some time to cool down with your friends. Except for one type (I don't even bother with this one) a "Gush 'n Go".

Seriously, you literally have to sprint to your water, take a quick glug, and sprint right back. Yep, I just chill for those two seconds.

#4 You get back to your dorm room at 11:00 at night. No one shuts up until like midnight and then you only have five hours until you redo the same exact schedule. What's worse? The chaperons banging on your doors saying "Time to get up, rise and shine!! Its nice and warm and sunny today!!"

Yeah, they always get these 😖👿😠 looks in return but it never phases them.

Now I realize I've only talked about the "bad" things. Lets talk about the good ones! 😀

#1 You get to bond with many more people, you come out of your shell to make lifelong and lifechanging friendships.

#2 When your Director is not being annoying, you joke, play, and laugh with them. Last year we had a water balloon fight with our Director and we ended up dunking the remaining water on him! 😄

#3 You learn and enjoy so many inside jokes like "So this one time at Band Camp..."

#4 When school starts, especially for Freshmen, you start the school year with so many friends that got your back.

#5 Sometimes you get to play together. We have a Skit Night, Band Olympics, Circle Sit, Water Balloon fights, and we even play Mafia!!

When it comes down to it, Marching Band and Band Camp can be life changing experiences. You also learn that the field is not for the football team-- its for marching bands. And why is it that the bands usually have more awards than the sports team? And Marching Band is most definitely a sport!

It may not be easy, but the skills and experiences you gain are certainly worth it!

Freshmen and any underclassmen, do not take Marching Band for granted. Because it will go by really fast and you will be left wishing those days could come back and never end.

Because what you get is, basically, another family.
