14; brendon

My aunt and uncle were going on a date night with my parents, so Cassidy and I volunteered to watch my little cousin Addison.

"Brendon! Brendon! Look at me fly!" Addi exclaimed, and I turned to see Cassidy pushing Addi on the swings. I smiled and saw that Cassidy looked very happy. She doesn't have any younger cousins or siblings, she is the youngest.

"Wow, Addi. You're like a bird!" I said. She giggled and held on tightly to the metal chain holding the swing. Cassidy slowed the swing down and we walked over to the playground, where Addi immediately ran onto the equipment.

"Can we play lava monster? Please please please please!" She said, jumping up and down.

"Okay, sure. Brendon's it!" Cassidy said and ran over to the playground. I rolled my eyes and started counting to 10.

"One... two... three... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine... TEN!" I said and spun around getting a little sand in my shoe. I ignored it and looked around me. I spotted Cassidy and Addi hiding. I smiled and walked over, "I see you!"

"NO YOU DON'T!" Addison screeched and ran away, Cassidy following. I sighed. I stepped onto the playground and closed my eyes. That's the rules. I stuck my hands out in front of me and felt around to avoid running into something. I heard crunching of sand,

"Lava Monster!" I yelled.

"Oh no! He caught me!" Cassidy exclaimed. I opened my eyes and saw her on the ground, a big smile on her face. I couldn't help but grin myself.

After about twenty minutes of playing, we decided to walk back. Addison sprinted in front of us but we walked normally. Cassidy sighed,

"You know, I really want kids when I'm older." she said.

"Do you now?" I said, squeezing her hand that was holding mine.

"Yeah. I'd love to raise someone to be an amazing human being. Teach them my ways, you know?" She said and shrugged.

"Yeah." I mindlessly replied. I started picturing us when we are older, Cassidy holding a newborn and me running around, trying to dress a two year old. It seemed so vivid, and I'd never had those images with anyone else I've dated. I've said this before, but I hope to god I know this girl for as long as possible.

"I'm so proud of you guys." she said, pushing a hair behind her ear. I smiled,

"Me too." I said.

"You know I'm gonna stick around for a while, right?" she said. I looked at her, confused, "When you guys make it big, no matter our relationship status, I'm not going anywhere. I gotta support my boys." she grinned. I smiled.

"Thank you. I love you, you know that?" I said.

"I love you too." she smiled. We made it to the house and as soon as I unlocked tge door, Addison ran upstairs to the guest room.

"I gotta go to the bathroom, I'll be back." I said excusing myself. I went to the bathroom and did my business. I washed my hands with our new soap. I didn't know what it was, but holy shit it smelt good. I walked back out to find Addi already in bed, Cassidy reading her a story. I leaned in the doorway and watched. Cassidy's back was to me.

"And they all lived happily ever after." she said and slowly closed the book she had in her hands. She set it down carefully on the nighttable and gave Addi a small kiss on the forehead. She stood up and saw me. She put a finger to her mouth signalling for me to be quiet. I smiled and moved out of the way so she could come into the hallway. I shut off the light and closed the door behind her. "How long were you watching?" she asked. I shrugged,

"Like forty seconds." I said. She nodded, taking my hand and taking me to the living room downstairs, "Movie?" I asked as we sat down on the couch.

"Sure. Ooh! I know!" she said excitedly grabbing the remote from my hands. I laughed and let her choose. "How about Jumanji! I love that movie." she said, grinning.

"Okay, sure. I haven't seen it." I said. I feel like I just told her to go to hell or something, because she turned around and had the most offended look on her face.

"WHAT!?" she exclaimed, but kept it quiet so we wouldn't wake Addi. "We're definitely watching it now, then." she said and clicked on it. It was about to start when I got a phone call. Cassidy glared at me. "Keep it quick, ball boy." I smiled and answered the phone.

"Hey."

"Brendon, you need to come to the hospital." Spencer's voice said, a hint of sadness in it.

"Why?" I asked, Cassidy looking at me, confused.

"Its Ryan. He tried to commit suicide."
