Act 1: Scene 3

INT. BIRD ROOM - DAY

The background shows the sun setting and rising slowly to signal a new day. Angie climbs back to her own cage, Bluey flies into his, and Pear and Mika climb in theirs together.

ELIZABETH

Angie, time to wake up! It's time to train!

Elizabeth holds some millet in front of Angie to lure her to the cage door opening area, and she followed and ate as the millet moved. Everyone else on the stage looks with curiosity.

ELIZABETH

Good job! Do you want to step up?

Angie bobbed her head since it was the only responsive action she could do apart from flying away. Once Elizabeth put her hand in front of her stomach, Angie immediately jerks and flies back to her perch.

BLUEY

C'mon Angie, you can do it!

ANGIE

I'm sorry, Bluey! I just don't know if I'm ready for such a huge leap in my life.

PEAR

Hey, it took them weeks to train me because I was more nervous than Bluey.

MIKA

Yeah...what he said. Also, just focus on the millet and trust that your feet know what they're doing.

With newly found motivation from her friends, Angie bobs her head again to let Elizabeth know that she would like to try again.

ELIZABETH

You wanna try again? Okay!

Elizabeth does what she did before, just more slowly and steadily this time; Angie put one foot on her finger and another one grabbed onto the side of the cage. She ate the millet in that position.

BLUEY

That's it! Now, don't rely on the cage so much and get your left foot onto her finger as well!

MIKA

We all don't like to go back into our cages every night now, so I'm sure we can help you stop being so reliant.

Elizabeth pulls the millet closer and closer to the cage door, leaving Angie with no choice but to step up entirely. Bluey, Pear, and Mika chirp loudly.

ELIZABETH

You're such a good bird, Angie! Fly!

Angie flies out of the cage, and Elizabeth opens up Bluey's and the cockatiels' cages for them to fly together as a flock.

BLUEY

Angie, I'm gonna take a break, but keep on flying and using those wings!

BLUEY

(loudly whispers)

Pear, Mika, come down! I need to talk to both of you.

PEAR

Geez, whenever you hold these meetings, my body tenses up quickly. What's the matter?

BLUEY

It's just...I was happy when Angie came over at first, but once Elizabeth literally spent half an hour with just her and not us, I'm starting to feel that...she doesn't like me anymore...

PEAR

No, Bluey, don't say that! You're OG! You're her first ever bird.

MIKA

Yeah, how can she not like you? She wanted Angie to be your girlfriend. She's doing it for you, for you to be less jealous when I'm with Pear!

BLUEY

Okay, Pear. How'd you feel when you got Mika?

PEAR

I felt really honored at the difference, especially after Pearl passed away, and I liked how Elizabeth was still willing to play with me.

I definitely had to get used to the change as it was just us two for some time, meaning that Elizabeth would give us each half her time, but now with four birds, her attention is halved again.

BLUEY

Maybe you're right. I just need some time to adjust and to get used to it. It's all happening so fast!

PEAR

Yep! I believe in you, Bluey! I always will.

Elizabeth holds out her finger for Bluey to step up.

PEAR

Alright, if that doesn't give it away, I don't know what will. You better step up.

Bluey steps up, and Elizabeth has Angie on one side and Bluey on the other.

ELIZABETH

Millet time, everyone!

Elizabeth brings out the millet she used for Angie's training and places it on top of a large cage for everyone to see. All four birds fly and eat the millet from different angles.

BLUEY

How was the training session, Angie?

ANGIE

I felt amazing! It still feels surreal, so I'm still in the process of accepting what happened.

PEAR

Well, guess what? We have another thing in common now.

MIKA

I'm not following.

PEAR

Oh, Mika poo. Don't ruin this moment for us!

MIKA

Continue.

PEAR

We all can step onto Elizabeth's hand! Angie, isn't it nice to not feel left out anymore and to have friends?

Angie bobs her head.

FADE TO BLACK

A/N:

Ah, Angie stepped up! Who else is cheering right now?
