Chpater Twenty Two

"ALLLLLLLLLRIGHT!" Mic screamed. "Our first match of the one on one fights is gonna be a good one! We have...ZOË BAKUGO AND YUKI MONOMA!"
Zoë stepped into the ring, as well as Yuki, who brushed his hair out of his face. He gave a charming smile.
"Well, hey there, gorgeous! You ready for this?"
"Hey yourself," Zoë smirked back. "Oh, and just so you know, I'm a lesbian, so your little mind games won't work on me!"
         Yuki blushed.
        "H-heh, I'll keep that in mind- that's a shame!"
"OKAAAAAAAAY! Let the fight begin! Same rules as the two on two fights! Restrain your opponents or push them out of the ring! Recovery Girl is on deck- so you can go all out! BEGIN!"
Yuki rushes forward, but Zoë was prepared for that. Yuki's quirk was incredibly powerful, but if he couldn't touch her hand, he was virtually quirkless.
She ducked at the last possible moment, and fired off an explosion, dodging by flying into the air. She fired off a bolt of one for all, but Yuki dodges easily, smirking.
It was crystal clear that he was extremely aerodynamic, and he was very flexible, giving him an advantage even without his quirk. Without her noticing, he managed to get behind her, and barely touched her hand with his finger. Zoë gasped.
"Haha! Let's do this for real!"
He roared, and the crowd waited with bated breath.
Within five seconds, he collapsed to the floor, clutching his chest. Zoë instinctively ran forward to try to see if he was alright, but she could almost SEE her dad giving her his signature glare. She didn't want to look ruthless in front of Izuku, but she just couldn't just disappoint her father after he'd helped her so much. She clenched her fists and stood her ground. But she couldn't leave him completely helpless.
"A-Are you alright?!" She screamed. Yuki could barley grunt.
"W-Whats WRONG with your Quirk?!" He hissed. His palms sparked, and green lightning crackled weakly, and he screamed again, collapsing.
By then, Zoë was fighting every instinct in her body telling her to go and help him.
"M-My Quirks!" She gasped, realizing what was going on.
"Q-Quirks?! What the hell are you talking about?!" He choked out.
"I...I have two quirks! One of them I was born with, the other I inherited! Y-Your body probably can't handle it!"
Yuki growled, and Zoë couldn't stand it any more. She picked him up, and he hung limply in her small arms. She walked over to the border of the arena, and placed him gently outside of the boundary line. He instantly blacked out.
Zoë fell backwards onto her butt and looked up at the crowd. They were all roaring with delight.
"AND ZOË BAKUGO MOVES ON TO THE NEXT ROUND! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE FIGHT!"
Zoë tried her best to catch her breath, but after hours that seemed like minutes, she walked over to the now repaired arena. She had actually managed to land herself in the top three, after winning a fight against Sana, who's clones couldn't get near Zoë in the air, and her extra limbs were virtually useless. She stepped into the arena, and took a deep breath. She faced the blonde and clenched her fists.
      "Mel..."
      "Zo..."
"LET THE FIGHT BETWEEN ZOË BAKUGO AND MELODY KAMINARI , THE FINAL TWO CONTESTANTS, BEGIN!"
Melody smiled sadly, and pressed her hands to her speakers. She closed her eyes, and turned up the frequency as fast as she could. A shock wave emitted through the arena, the sound amplifying the closer it got to Zoë.
She screamed. It seemed like her head was going to explode. She couldn't hear anything, and her vision was going fuzzy. She stumbled forward, and Melody moved in for the finishing blow. Zoë weakly stumbled to her feet, and shakily took a breath. Shekels her head with her arms, bracing for the horrible sound again. She lurched forward, expecting to fall over, when her hand came into contact with what she later figured out was one of Melody's speakers. In her panic, she accidentally activated One For All, causing Melody to screech and fall to the floor, clutching the left side of her head.
"S-Shit," she hissed. She lunged forward, activating her other speaker, but it was much weaker without her other one, Zoë managed to stay on her feet. They exchanged blows, fighting with their fists, both of them exhausted from using their quirks. Melody landed a solid hit on Zoe's chest, and she felt something break. Blood began pouring down her face, and she burst into tears. The pain was excruciating.
       N-Not good!
She barley managed to dodge, and when she did, she could barely stand. She shifted into a fighting stance, knowing she only had a few punches left in her.
She wiped the sweat, blood and tears that were clouding her vision away with her sleeve. She groaned weakly, barely managed to bag away Melody's last eat weak punch. Zoë knew she was at her limit. Taking a shaky breath, she gathered all of her little remaining energy into her right palm. She created a huge explosion, the smoke obscuring Melody's vision. The blonde coughed and sputtered, and Zoë managed to kick her legs out from under her, and she fell to the concrete. She lay there, unmoving.
"THERE WE HAVE IT FOLKS! THE WINNER OF THIS YEAR'S UA SPORTS FESTIVAL: ZOË BAKUGO!"
The crowd erupted into applause, and her vision went blurry. She collapsed onto all fours, struggling to breathe. She had started coughing up blood, and she was barley able to see Bakugo literals jumped down from the Box, as well as Kaminari, and they came sprinting over to where the two girls lay, barley moving.
        "ZOË!"
        "MELODY!"
Melody's eyes opened, as she regained consciousness.
        "D-Daddy? What happened?"
"Second place," Denki whispered. He started crying. "Oh, I'm so proud of you!"
Melody burst into tears, either out of anger or happiness, Bakugo couldn't tell. But he rushed over to Zoe's side. He picked her up, and an agonizing scream pierced his ears. She was struggling to breathe, and started shivering violently. Bakugo roared.
"KID! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!"
"She fought, just what she was supposed to do!" Kaminari hissed. Bakugo growled, and held him by his shirt collar.
"I'll deal with you later," he barked. He clutched Zoë to his chest, and rushed her to the infirmary as fast as he could. When Recovery Girl saw her condition, she paled.
"I'm calling an ambulance- you have to get her to a hospital- NOW."
Bakugo nodded, and Izuku burst into the room.
        "IS SHE OKAY?!"
"Izu, she needs to go to the hospital, the ambulance just pulled up. WE NEED TO GO."
They loaded the girl into the back, and strapped an oxygen mask over her face. Izuku sat by her side, gripping her hand, Bakugo sitting with his head in his hand.
"Hold on, kid. Oh god, please hold on..."

Zoë blinked, and her vision slowly returned. She was lying down, and couldn't seem to sit up. She could see a white ceiling, and it smelled of something sterile. She groaned quietly, and someone rushed to her side.
"Zoë! ZOË! ZOË! Are you awake?! ZOË!"
Zoë managed to nod weakly, and her bed rose up, someone pushing the button. Her vision cleared, and her faced focused on her dad.
Bakugo's shaking hand reached out for her. He touched her forehead lightly.
"Oh my god," he sobbed. "Oh my god."
He knew that he couldn't give her a hug, but by God, that was all he wanted. He held her hand, and brought it to his face.
         "D-Dad? What's going on? Where...where am I?"
"Shhh. You're okay. You're okay now," he sobbed, seemingly trying to reassure himself more than the girl. "Baby, Melody broke two of your ribs and they pierced your right lung. It caused internal bleeding, and if we hadn't gotten you here in time...you would've...you would've..."
Bakugo threw his head back and wailed, a sound so heartbreaking that Zoë started crying. Izuku rushed into the room.
         "BABY!"
Both of her parents held each one of her hands, and sat there, staring at her.
"Oh, Baby!" Izuku sobbed. "I...I thought...I thought..."
           Zoë managed a weak smile.
          "I...I...wouldn't...leave you....never..."
She drifted off to sleep, each one of her bass falling asleep with her on either side of her.
Tears stained the hospital bed, and and a faint trail of blood led from the hallway.
