Chapter Twenty

Midoriya sat next to Bakugo in the stands. Izuku was already sweating, and Bakugo was grinding his teeth and gripping his costume in a death hold.
"Welcome everyone to the U.A. Annual Sports Festival! I'm your host, Present Mic, and I'm here with my co-host Eraser Head!"
Izuku managed a smile, and Bakugo nodded. It seemed like just yesterday that they had been out there.
"Now, let's give a warm welcome to class 1A!"
Bakugo scanned all of the kids, his eyes quickly landing on his daughter, who was visibly shaking and hiding behind Kirika. He felt his heart threaten to break.
"Izuku, what if she has a full out panic attack?!" Katsuki hissed.
      Izuku took a deep breath.
"This is her moment, Kat. We have to believe in her."
Bakugo nodded stiffly, and turned his attention to the field.
There was Midnight, standing in front of a huge electronic screen. It would list the different events that all of the kids would participate in.
"Alright, let's get this show on the road!" Midnight roared. The board flashed, and landed on an event.
"Our first event will be an obstacle course!"
Bakugo and Deku shared worries looks. They remembered what had happened when they competed in the very same event.
       "Alright! On your mark...get set...GO!"
With that, the hundreds of teenagers lured out of the small hallway leading to the course that went all the way around the stadium. No one could really move, it was so jam packed, but Zoë decided she wasn't going to let anyone get ahead of her. She shouted some sort of code word to Melody, and she nodded. She amplified her speakers, and the waves caused everyone to fall down and cover their ears. Kirika and Zoë, who had known what was coming, grinned at each other and took off. Kirika grabbed both Melody and Zoë and held them up, and Zoë blew up her palms and the three of the blasted forward.
By then, the other students were starting to recover, and they looked angry. Zoë turned a corner, and expected to find the robots that her dads had fought at their own Sports Festival. But her eyes widened in horror as she came face to face with at least fifteen pro heroes. She started to panic, and before she had time to think, All Might was on her.
"I'm sorry baby," All Might whispered. "But I can't go easy on you. All of us pros have been assigned to stop you- the ones in the lead will have to fight, and take us on one on one...and you're against me!"
Zoë gasped in horror, and just barely jumped out of the way of All Might's punch.
"I...I don't want to hurt you!" Zoë screamed at her grandfather.
"Don't worry about me! Recovery Girl's ready and waiting! GO!"
Zoë nodded, still scared out of her mind. All Might has been the number one hero before her dads, and she knew he was still extremely powerful. She would need quite a strategy to take him on.
"You've got Young Bakugo's and Young Izuku's quirks...come at me with everything you've got!"
           Zoë clenched her fists.
          "ONE FOR ALL! FULL COWLING!"
All Might jumped out of the way, expecting her to punch him, but she had combined both of her quirks- lashing her palm out at lightning speed, and making an explosion on All Might's face. He laughed.
"Not bad! Now take this! DETROIT SMASH!"
His fist collided with Zoe's arm, and she hissed as she could feel her wrist break. That rendered her left side useless with her quirk coming from her palms.
No time to think!
She barely jumped out of the way, and thought back to what her dad's old hero notebooks said.
Wait a minute...I've known Grandpa my whole life...what did dad say about the day he met him...? Something about his side...his side!
        "I'm sorry!" Zoë screamed.
        "10%! DETROIT SMASH!"
All Might blocked his head instinctively, but he wasn't prepared to be hit in his left side, where his infamous scar was. He couches and folded over, giving Zoë just enough time to run away.
All Might retreated to his skinny form.
He was completely out of breath, and his side was killing him, but he was grinning.
       "Not bad kid..."

Zoë, our of breath and sweating, ran as far away from the battle field as possible. She took a minute to catch her breath, and looked ahead. Again, she was surprised by the obstacle, as she had been expecting the same things her parents had done.
She took a few steps forward, and was completely engulfed in darkness. She yelped loudly. She was terrified of the dark.
She started to hyperventilate, and she heard some of the other kids catching up. She took a deep breath, and activated One For All, using the green light to guide her way. However, she stopped immediately in her tracks.
It WAS the same as the second obstacle her parents had face.
The huge chasm with narrow strings in between them, connecting small islands of rock.
Oh no! How am I supposed to do THAT in the dark?!
She then heard a loud squeal of delight. Sakura flew pst everyone else, running on the air, she crossed the whole pit in less than five seconds. Zoë growled.
I don't think so.
She launched herself off of the ground with her explosions, trying to be as careful as possible, as she only had one hand to work with. She had never worked with that before, and she knew that if she fell...she'd be finished.
She activated One For All in midair, and launched herself off of one of the stone platforms, zooming through the air. She caught up with Sakura in seconds.
"Haha! Great job!" The girl encouraged. Zoë managed a small smile, before Sakura fell on her face.
"Dammit!" The girl wailed. Zoë helped her off the floor, and ran as fast as she could.
She was finally approaching the final obstacle- what looked like a huge maze.
"WHOA! Two competitors have already reached the third obstacle! INCREDIBLE! And the others aren't far behind! But the maze cancels your Quirks- be careful to avoid traps, and use your brains to succeed!"
Quirk cancelling?! No way! Without my quirk...I'm basically useless!
She ran forward, figuring her only chance was to be fast enough so no one could catch up with her. She was stopped dead in her tracks though- she managed to duck just in time as a dart flew out of the wall in front of her.
Tch! Traps! I guess they weren't kidding!
After running through the maze for another ten minutes, Zoë nearly cried when she saw the exit. She sprinted to the finish line, and nearly collapsed.
"And we have our third place winner! Zoë Bakugo!"
The crowd broke into applause. Sakura and Melody ran over to her.
"NO WAY! Mel, you got FIRST?!"
Melody laughed.
"I KNOW! Oh my god, I can't believe it! Turns out, the walls were hollow, and I could feel the vibrations! And Sakura, well..."
"I flew above the whole thing...but...I still managed to get lost..." the girl giggled.
They all high fives, and twenty minutes later, everyone had finished.
"Moving on to our second event! Each of the top 20 to finish first will be teamed up with a pro, and fight against another team! We'll battle until there are 10 teams left! Please welcome...
Cellophane!
Pinky!
Ingenium!
Uravity!
Chargebolt!
Red Riot!
Earphone Jack!"

The list went on and on, until one last name was announced.

"And the number two hero, GROUND ZERO!"

Zoë whipped around and saw her dad staring at her. She nearly wept with relief.
"ALLLLLLLLLL RIGHT!" Mic screamed. "Please, form a team of two and meet me out on the field!"
      Zoë didn't take any chances.
"DAD! DAD! PICK ME! PLEASE! I'M RIGHT HERE!" She yelled, jumping and waving, trying to make herself stand out in the crowd. By then, half of the kids had walked up to Bakugo asking to team up with him.
"Have any of you seen a small girl with green hair around here?" He growled.
"Ha, you mean Zoë? She's always hiding and having other people do her dirty work- I'm surprised she even made it- she's over there."
        Bakugo clenched his fists.
"Saying something like that isn't very heroic, now is it?"
His voice had dropped two octaves and it could be hear clearly from far away. He was shaking.
        "N-No sir! I-I'm very sorry!"
The kid bowed hastily, and Bakugo walked over to Zoë, patting her on the head.
"You ready, kiddo?" He asked gently. Zoë nodded.
"Where's Papa? Did he not want to come see me?"
         Bakugo chuckled.
"Of course he did- he just can't fight- he and your new sibling are watching from the pro boxes- don't sweat it!"
          Zoë beamed.
"Then I can't afford to lose! Not in front of all of you!"
          Bakugo almost started crying.
"Baby, no matter if you win or lose, me, Papa, and the little one will always be there for you."
Zoë crushed him in a hug, and the two fist bumped.
"Round One- Ground Zero and Zoë Bakugo VS Red Riot and Kirika Kirishima!"
