How to make an Oreo Crust

Making cheesecake, pies? Need an Oreo crust but don't want to buy it? No problem, just make it yourself with this super easy recipe.

~What size crust is this?

This recipe will work with:

a 9 inch pie plate, a 9 inch springform pan, and a 9 x 9 square pan.

~What do I need to make an Oreo Crust?

In order to make an Oreo Crust you will need:

4 Tablespoons Melted Butter (your choice of salted butter or unsalted butter).

25 Classic Oreo Cookies (or any other chocolate sandwich cookies).

~How to make an Oreo Crust:

Step 1: Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor whole. and crush until only fine crumbs remain.*

Step 2: In a separate, medium sized microwave safe bowl, heat the butter until it is completely melted.

Step 3Pour the cookie crumbs into the melted butter and stir until well combined.

Step 4Pour the cookie crumbs into the prepared pan and use your hands and or the clean bottom of a glass or measuring cup to firmly press the crumbs tightly into the bottom and sides of your pan.

~Recipe Notes:

*Do Not remove the cream filling. If you do not have a food processor, then place the cookies in a ziploc bag (be sure to let all the air out before you seal it) and beat with a rolling pin or mallet until only fine crumbs remain.

1)  If the recipe is to be baked - then bake according to your recipe's instructions. For cheesecakes, this crust does not need to be pre-baked unless your recipe specifically instructs you to do so.

2) If this crust is for a no-bake recipe, refrigerate or freeze for 10-20 minutes before filling.

3) If you wish to pre-bake this crust (for a crunchier crust), bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 8 - 10 minutes and then allow it to cool completely before filling.

Have fun making these! Let us know if you have any questions.
