Run!
I couldn't think of anything, couldn't see anything or couldn't tell anything.
RUN.
That word got trapped in my body, my heart, my head and in every inch of my conscious state.
I didn't want to go anywhere. I didn't want to face it anymore. I didn't want to see it again and again and again.
But here it was...
Again, standing in front of me. It's breath fanning across my face. I felt something trickled down my cheek. Red. And when I acknowledged the sharp pain in my head... someone held me there, tightly. Not letting me go.
"Fa...ce.. it..." It whispered.
I looked around, frantically trying to hold onto something but I couldn't. I felt someone pressing me under that deep sea. My breathing stopped, heart pounded louder than ever. My feet was tied and I felt the grip loosen.
But then again trying to rise up from the depth, I felt my legs tied. And no matter how hard I tried, I just... couldn't.
My legs and hands became numb. I couldn't move anymore. I accepted my approaching death. With open arms... breathing shallow, I opened my eyes.
My head cleared, I could see daylights, stars, galaxies in front of my eyes. Just when I was about to succumb to my serenity, someone pulled me out.
I was still in daze. I didn't feel anything. I was still feeling that tight grip on my neck and those hushed whispers were ringing in my head.
"Wake up! Wake up Janet. I know you can do it. I know you can control it. Come on Janet, you can do better!" He said. And I felt someone pushing my chest to pump out the water. I blinked. I looked at him.
I... know him... I have seen him... somewhere.
I held his palm, and he wrapped his hands around mine.
"I knew you could do this Janet... I knew. I trust you." His said as tears brimmed in his eyes.
We were forced apart in a second, and then I saw something I never wanted to see in my entire life.
Shadowy figures danced across us. A girl, whose throat was slit... a woman who had dark marks on her neck as if someone strangled her to death. A girl who was giggling and dancing and the most beautiful among them, flipped her hair and I saw her wrist was cut open, blood dripping and staining the white dress she was wearing.
I wanted to scream. But my voice felt sore. I wanted to thrash and struggle but my body felt numb. I wanted to understand them, but my head was foggy with thoughts.
I couldn't find a clear way.
It was all in my head.
Suddenly someone tied me up and grinned , I couldn't recognise them anymore. I saw them approaching the man who just saved me. They had a big rod in their hands and without wasting any time, the beautiful girl took it from hand of another person, and stroke it hard on his head.
Just because they were surrounding him, I couldn't see him. But I heard a loud scream, pained and muffled.
My heart crushed by the sound of him. And I screamed. They all turned towards me and grinning maliciously they moved away.
I couldn't acknowledge the scene infront of me. His head was split in two. And his eyes almost bulged out of his sockets.
Goosebumps formed all over my body and tears after tears left my eyes. They only laughed.
That was the first time, I understood what evil is.
They giggled, laughed and screamed. I had to cover my ears.
I saw someone drag the rod on the ground producing screeching sounds. Horror was evident in my eyes. I knew what they were going to do. That beautiful girl came in front of me and smiled.
"I'm not going to kill you. Because I'm no more. But he is..." Astonishingly her voice was clear unlike the rest of them. I watched her dumbfounded when she handed the rod over to that man.
That man, like others turned pale and smiled mischievously.
It was all in my head. I repeated it like a mantra.
Approached me with that rod and rose his hand high to strike me....
Ha... Ha... I panted.
Daylights broke out in my room pouring positivity and happiness. My head felt dizzy again, I touched my head. I was fine.
I didn't know what to do.
Ever since I agreed to go there, the nightmare hasn't left me.
