Part 15
Miyoung POV
“I brought the girls home with me and introduced them to my father. He had me spar with them so that he could evaluate them.”
“And?” Himchan asked.
“And my father saw their potential and invited them to join the family” I smiled.
“Okay, so now I understand how your gang family was formed and that there are rules between families, but that still doesn’t explain why we can’t be together.”
Miyoung sighed “That is because of the unwritten rules between families and gangs. I’m sure you know a little about them.”
“Like; No guy will fight a girl?”
“Exactly! That is one of the most well known unspoken rules of the gang world.”
“So, what are these other rules?”
“It is mostly about interactions between families. Most of the smaller families either want to try and hold their own or try and ally themselves with a larger family. For instance; the Cube family has worked hard to build their family so that they can hold their own and now they are well known as an independent family. Then you have the Woollim family who recently allied themselves with the SM family.”
“I heard about that!”
“I’m not surprised. It was a very big deal among the other gang families. The Woollim family was doing very well on their own, so it was a surprise that they allied themselves with the SM family.”
“Then why did they?”
“I don’t really know all the details” Miyoung replied with a smirk. “Anyways, there are only two ways families join together. One is through an alliance in which gang members are known to be in relationships and they end up becoming a formal couple. Eventually this will result in marriage thus solidifying an alliance between gang families.” Himchan nodded. “This is how the SM and Woollim families intend to ally themselves with each other.”
“Really?” Himchan was a little surprised because he hadn’t heard of the marriage. “Who?”
Miyoung smiled “The two involved are Key from the SHINee gang of the SM family and Woohyun from the Infinite gang of the Woollim family. They're a very well known couple. I’m surprised you didn’t know.”
“They probably were together long before we came to this town.”
“True” I smiled. “Anyways, the other way gang families unite is through takeovers.”
“Takeovers?”
“Yes” I smiled. “Basically that is when one gang family attacks another, practically destroys the family and then absorbs the useable gang members and discards the rest of the former gang family’s members. It is not a practice you see happen very often. Most families prefer to form alliances rather than try and takeover another gang, so it goes as an unwritten rule.” Himchan nodded as he took the information in.
Himchan POV
Okay, so I understand the alliance versus a takeover, but what does this have to do with us? “Okay, but…”
“How does it affect us?” Damn it! How can she read me so well?
“Yeah.”
“When my father formed our family, most of the other families took no notice of us until our Untouchable gang started to make themselves known. Then after my and the Secret gang’s incidents with the JYP family, we kind of became known as a formidable rising gang family. Because of that, most of the larger families wanted us to ally with them.”
“Okay…”
“That means that they would need one of us to marry into their gang family.”
“And?”
“What stronger bond could there be than to marry the daughter of the head of the gang family?”
“OH!”
She smiled “Three years ago, we were invited to the Annual Ball for the first time. Every gang in town was present and we could tell they were sizing us up. The head of the SM family approached my father and tried to butter him up in order to propose a possible alliance. My father saw through his facade and said that the only way he would accept an alliance is if their chosen fiancé could defeat my father’s chosen champion.”
“So what happened?”
“The head of the SM family accepted my father’s condition and put forth their best fighter, U-Know for the fight.”
“Crap! He is one of the best fighters out there!”
“I know!”
“What happened?”
“My father arranged for the fight to take place a few days after the ball. Every gang family showed up to witness the outcome.”
“Daebak!”
“Well, it gets better” she smiled again and I just wanted to tackle her. How can she be so adorable?! “The head of the SM family presented U-Know to my father and asked when my father’s fighter was going to appear because only my father and I were present at the fight.”
“Who was the fighter?” Why is she blushing? She couldn’t have! “You?!”
“Yeah! I was the fighter for our family.”
“But you couldn’t have! There is no way he would fight you! The first unwritten rule has never been broken!”
“Actually it has” she looked at me and blushed “And not just once.”
“No Way!”
“My father told them that I would be fighting for our family and everyone started to protest saying that it would be unfair to have a man fight me. That there was no way that I could possibly win such a fight.”
“I would have thought the same.”
“My father told them that I was the fighter and that if they wanted to withdraw from the fight, it would be the same as admitting defeat and we would win. U-Know was too head strong to allow such a defeat, so he accepted the fight.”
“Was he insane?”
“Nope! He thought that he would easily win, so he wasn’t using his full strength at first. When he started having difficulty, he started to get serious, but it was too late.”
“What do you mean by ‘too late’?”
“I had already figured out his style of fighting by the time he got serious, so it was easy to defeat him.”
“You defeated him?!”
“If I hadn’t, then we would be a part of the SM family and we wouldn’t be having this discussion right now.”
“Right” I blushed “I forgot about that.”
“When the other families witnessed this, they realized that we weren’t a family to be taken lightly. They started training their members harder in order to find someone strong enough to defeat me, but, in the end, they all failed.”
“So, why did you say that I defeated you? I never challenged you!”
“Do you remember when you stole that bread from me at the convenience store and I tried to get it back?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, I took that as a challenge and gave you a good punch in the stomach.”
“What?!”
“The funny thing is, you didn’t flinch!”
“You must not have hit as hard as you thought.”
“No, I hit you with full force. Enough to take down some of the best fighters among the bigger families” she chuckled “But you didn’t flinch! I was so shocked, that by the time I came back to my senses, you were already gone. I had no choice but to admit defeat.”
“So, my stomach pain that day was because of you and not the Boyfriend gang?!”
She blushed again “Yeah.”
“And that is why you said I was your fiancé to the head of their gang?”
“Yes.”
“Wow!” I sighed as I took everything in. “If that is the case, then they just need to accept that I am your fiancé.”
“That’s the problem!”
“Why?”
“Now that they think you defeated me, they will try anything in their power to defeat you so that they can claim me as their bride and force an alliance.”
“Think I defeated you? Don’t you mean, know I defeated you?”
“It’s not the same! We never actually fought.”
“That’s not the point. You said you were defeated by me. Whether or not it was a fist fight, is irrelevant.”
“Still…”
“So what?! What is the worst that could happen?”
Miyoung POV
“They challenge you, defeat you and insist that I marry them.”
“That’s not going to happen.”
“Why don’t I believe you?”
“You think I’m going to let someone steal my woman away from me?"
I blushed “Himchan! I’m being serious here!”
“I am too!”
“But they could kill you!”
Himchan chuckled “If you haven’t noticed, I’m not so easy to defeat. Or did you forget what happened when we fought the Boyfriend gang?” He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tightly. “I’m not going to let anyone take you away from me. You are mine!” I looked up at him and he kissed me tenderly.
