Mora

As I pulled Cedric through the Vivarium entrance, we stepped into a huge grassland.

Magical creatures were everywhere. Nifflers and Puffskeins played together to our left in the high grass. Hippogriffs and Thestrals taught their offspring how to fly by a sparkling stream to our right. And far in front of us, Unicorns and Kneazles peacefully in the warmth of the sun.

I turned to find Cedric surrounded by three creatures of wings.

Fwoopers, Jobberknolls, and the only Phoenix resident.

"Welcome to my care for magical creatures classroom." I laughed as Cedric was pushed to the ground by the birds.

"How did you capture all these creatures?!" He asked as he stared at the Phoenix.

"I didn't capture them. When I found them, they were severely injured or in serious danger." I said, pulling out some food to get the birds off him.

"These are Fwoopers and Jobeknols. I rescued them from the hands of poachers.

"And this Pheinox? About a year ago, I came across his cave. It was surrounded by poachers. She came to me, and I provided the shelter she needed.

"Those Nifflers and Puffskeins over there? Their dens were threatened by toxic gas. I brought them here so their safety was insured.

"Those Unicorns' den was burned by muggles, and they had no home. The Kneazles I found as cubs all alone cause their parents were poisoned by deadly tree snakes. And the Hippogreifs were close to death because they ran into an angry Graphorn." I told him, informing him of every reason the creatures were here.

"What about those?" Cedric asked, and my heart dropped as I realized he was pointing at the Thestrals.

"I was hoping you wouldn't be able to see those.

"Those creatures I didn't capture. They were drawn to me. Because death follows me." I whispered, walking over to where the Thestrals were.

"Who did you see die?" I asked Cedric as a large large Thestral came up to me.

"My uncle. Devil's Snare got the best of him. My dad managed to get me out before it got me too. I was five." He replied, petting the Thestral in front of me.

"What about you?"

"My dad was an unregistered animagus. His form was a wolf, and as a little girl, I loved to ride him. But one glance from an armed muggle is all it took." I told him, scratching the Thestral under its wing.

"But you said that death follows you. What did you mean by that?" Cedric asked, but he realized he wasn't getting an answer.

"Maybe another time, Ced. Right now, you need to follow me. There is one more creature I need to show you." I told him, and climbed onto the Thestral's back.

"Climb on. Sora is awake by now." I said, and before he could argue, I pulled him onto the Thestral.
